Why Jill MARTINI chose Porte Saint-Martin
I fell in love with this late 19th century flat that recalls Marcel Carmé's classic film Les Enfants du Paradis.
What makes this Apartment unique
An authentic French apartment in the centre of Paris, right near the historic Porte St. Martin and steps away from major transportation (three metro lines and two train stations).
Local Services & Businesses
A tidy, spacious place in a convenient location
Arranging this stay was easy, and we were met by Jill's daughter, who showed us everything and explained where things were in the neighborhood. The kitchen is tiny but complete, except there's no microwave. The bed is bigger than you usually find in Europe. The building is quiet with the windows closed, but it's on a busy street so there is some road noise.
The best thing is probably the location, about 2 minutes from the Strasbourg St Denis metro station (lines 4,8,9), and near stops for bus routes 38, 39, 47, and a couple of Noctilien routes.
We were happy to welcome David and his wife and we are glad they appreciated their stay in our apartment.
We did not fix a microwave on purpose: according to many scientists, microwave entails health problems. On another hand we fixed a good standard oven, working very well.
regarding the noise, unfortunately PARIS is a noisy city, especially this part of the town: Porte SAint MArtin is lively: many theatres, bars and restaurants. Therefore we cannot do more than fixing double glass windows everywhere in our apartment.
A true Parisian experience with all the comforts required
This property was ideal for our needs in Paris. It gave a true Parisian experience being an authentic Parisian apartment! It was secure and close to the Metro rail station with an elevator. It was handy to a market and all necessary shops. On top of that it was well fitted out with everything required with excellent wi-fi as well as a washing machine. The second bedroom was ideal for our daughter. It was not lacking in anything for our needs with a very comfortable bed. It was a great experience living in the local area of Saint Denis with easy access to the rest of Paris by the Metro just around the corner. Overall would thoroughly recommend this property. The owner was easy to deal with, was prompt with any enquiries and provided information for our Paris visit. Would be booking this property again if we return to Paris.
We were very glad to welcome Ian and his family in our apartment.
Obviously their stay went well.
They were perfect guests and we look forward seeing them back in the future.
Great home base for exploring Paris
We stayed for four days and found this apartment to quite suit our needs. It was clean and comfortable, check-in/out was quite easy. The bed was comfortable and there wasn't much street noise since it's down a small alley. We didn't use the kitchen at all besides refrigerating drinks (because French food), but it seemed small but serviceable. The shower was large by European standards and the washer was very convenient. The neighborhood is close to the Metro, a bit more of a locals neighborhood than your stereotypical charming Parisian tourist spot. The location made getting around Paris quite easy (the first night we walked to Notre Dame after dinner) and was easy to get to from the airport on the RER. It felt safe and there were shops and cafes nearby, though we never ate in the immediate neighborhood, usually ending up closer to Marais since we tended to set out on foot exploring. They left a great book of information, including wonderful restaurant recommendations (with which we had far better luck with than Rick Steves's recommendations!). We'd certainly recommend this apartment to fellow travelers.
Very happy to have welcomed Mary and her husband. They were perfect guests
Very clean and spacious apartment in the center of Paris.
Great place Jil was very kind and very helpful
Cozy and convenient
This is a comfortable, cozy apartment with great public transportation links. It stays quiet even during busy times since the windows face an alley off the main street. Just a 2-minute walk to a metro station with 3 lines and easy connections to several train stations. The neighborhood also boasts many markets and restaurants within short walking distance. We felt safe in this apartment and surrounding area. Kitchen is small but well-equipped. Combined washer-dryer is perfect for tourists in the middle of a longer trip. The shower is amazing, very large by European standards!! The second bed is really for one person only. It's small and had a broken panel that was fixed with tape. Not sure it could accommmodate two comfortably. Overall, this apartment was perfect for our Paris vacation and we would stay here again without hesitation!! Thank you, Jill, for a great apartment.
I was Very happy to welcome Abby and Her Dad. I am pleased They enjoyed their stay. I am looking forward seeing them again in the future. Best regards.
The apartment was spotless. Plenty of towels, soap for washing clothes and dishes, multi-channel satellite/cable TV. The bed was very comfortable and there was more than enough storage space.
Apartment is close to all your everyday needs: bakery, markets, bus, subway, and more, all within one block in every direction.
I chose not to pay high-priced US roaming charges nor buy a local SIM card for local phone service. Since everything I needed could be found on the Web, I used the apartment's WiFi to research everything I wanted to see and do as well as for sending and receiving daily emails. Super easy and free.
The owner is very nice and well organized. You will find a notebook containing instruction manuels for the apartment's appliaces and the owner is never too far away if you need help.
Since I prepared most of my own meals, I could have used an extra pot or two with lids. Otherwise, the kitchen was well equipped also.
The property is located near the Grands Boulevards, Paris' historical theatre district. It is an up-and coming place full of cafés and restaurants, a five minute walk from the Marais.
