About Camilla Nugent

We are the Nugents! Charlie and Camilla. We love the lake and lived by it since 1995. We have been married for 24 years and we have a College bound teen volleyball player daughter, my parents live with us, + the 5 dogs we have rescued.

Camilla Nugent purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Camilla Nugent chose Lake Lanier

There is something to be said about location, right? Exactly!

It is just perfect! Simple, Rustic, Charming, Cozy, Natural!

It is not easy to find a quiet cove with deep water year round, quick access to medical, restaurants, shopping, and being close to the highway.

We had 2 black labs that were always swimming with us and I was very pregnant, when our rent was up, with great neighbors that didn't want to see us leave the area, so they convinced the owner of our soon to be NEW HOME to rent-to-purchase this great piece of heaven we are now sharing with you.

We have everything you can imagine around here and we are a short drive to Atlanta if we want to get a big city access to museums or large events. And a shorter drive to the mountains if you want to get further away from the city ;)

We love this cove!

Dead end on the lake makes it also very car quiet and we take walks with our dogs all the time.

Like I already said, it is just perfect!

Simple, Rustic, Charming, Cozy, Natural!

What makes this cabin unique

The sun rises through our sliding deck doors into our dining area and this golden glow just energizes you for the whole day. Sipping a cup of coffee and looking at the lake, greenery, and wildlife we have around is just the closest to mother nature as you can get without camping outdoors!

Stroll to the dock and jump into fresh and flowing water. ... There is so much serenity in the mornings.

Take a boat ride to the dam, fish early morning, go to Lake Lanier Islands, or just hang out at the dock with a good book until lunch time.

Grill your favorite food and start your nap at the hammock under the magnolia tree or get off the heat, watching a movie or playing cards also a good option if the rain comes to water our gardens.

The house is cozy, and it is great to keep you close to your family. It's open format allows you to cook, grill, and entertain without any effort.

All the amenities and gadgets are right there for you!

Water sports, Volleyball, Hiking, Parks, shopping, restaurants! Either you do a bunch of activities or you can just relax and do nothing instead, you choose.

Beautiful property, owners did not communicate at all.

  • 3 of 5

The property itself was beautiful. Great place to unwind. Me and 4 friends stayed for the weekend of Oct 21st and loved the cabin. Only issue is neither of the keys that were left for us unlocked the apt above the garage. We paid a fee for an extra guest (I believe it was for the 5th guest) which is fine, but we needed the extra space above the garage. I texted and left Camilla a message explaining the situation, but she never contacted us back. Very disappointing since the reviews said she is good at communicating.

Perfect Rental in Every Way

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect cabin for us in every way. We wanted a place on Lake Lanier that was quick to get on the highway and into Alpharetta and Atlanta. We were 15 minutes from door to door to my daughter's in Alpharetta and I had to drive to the Atlanta airport in peak traffic and was able to get to the airport with little difficulty. The cabin had a spacious deck that was perfect for grilling out and eating outdoors overlooking the lake. We ended up with extra guests that had not been planned (sister in law who couldn't get a flight due to the hurricane and my parents and brother who came later during our stay for my daughter's wedding). The cabin slept 4 comfortably (5 to 6 easily if we used the futon in the living room). There was also an efficiency apartment above the garage that was perfect for my sister in law the first 3 nights and my parents the last 4. We brought our dog and the owners were very welcoming and easily accessible for any questions. They had a washer and dryer on site as well as a dog wash station. The dock was perfect for our boat and the lake is absolutely gorgeous. The owners had gone to a lot of trouble to make sure that all of your needs were taken care of and the place was easy to find, extremely comfy and cozy and all and all perfect in every way. I would definitely recommend this rental to anyone who is looking for a place on Lake Lanier and has to make a few trips into the city (or anyone who wants to get away and not leave the cabin/lake area). I cannot express how much we enjoyed our stay and how appreciative we were to have been lucky enough to have found this rental. I cannot imagine anything that could have been improved except maybe a few more vacation days.

Relaxing and Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

Thanks for a great week at the lake during our fall school break. Cabin was very comfortable for three adults, an 11yr old and two big dogs. Great views of the lake from the big wrap-around deck. Covered swim dock had deck chairs and loungers and easily held our 25' deck boat.

The walk down to the lake is a bit steep and the steps down to the dock WERE a bit of a challenge for my 78yr old mom (esp. as the lake level is down a bit this year.) We didn't use the above garage suite, but it is very nice and would have been a great "retreat" for my mom if we had come with more of her grandkids. ;-)

Cozy and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We had a nice time. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The view of the lake was beautiful and our dogs loved to swim in the lake. Our bed was so comfortable, I didn't want to get up. The location is pretty good as far as traveling to Atlanta and only about 10 miles from Buford which has every store and restaurant you could imagine as well as the mall of Georgia. Charlie was very helpful when I forgot my hairdryer. He brought one early the next day ( although in the Georgia heat I realized my hair would be in a ponytail all week ) also he came almost instantly when we couldn't start the grill. Had a good time, so glad we chose this place to stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you Christine!, with today's craze for big and indoors, your comments made my heart melt. We love to have dog lovers like us bring their dogs with fair warning, so we can prepare the property accordingly. We also just bought a new grill :) so that it is easier for all new guests! Thank you for your kind words! Camilla & Charlie

Lovely

Completely enjoyed our stay in the lake. We are from the area but had recently moved to Dallas. It is a very clean quiet home on a beautiful lake. Camilla is very helpful and nice. We hope to stay again in the future when visiting Cumming.

Quite and relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

My family and I really enjoy our stay. It located on the lake and the house has everything we needed. My only complaint was that the BBQ grill was not clean. But over all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice, quite and relaxing getaway, that's not to far from the city.

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed staying at our Cabin. I am so sorry about the grill. Whenever you stay at a VRBO property feel free to let us owner's know right away when something is not right so that we can immediately remediate. Some of us use cleaning services and not always is the same people and that can be a challenge to get the checklist completed. Thanks again for staying with us!
