Beautiful place own by a special person

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property from HomeAway to get away from the path of hurricane Irma. We wish we could have enjoyed this piece of paradise more but we spent our days and nights glued to the TV monitoring Irma on the weather channel. Because of that, this review is more on the owner, Kevin, than on the property. On our way to the cabin, we called the owner to ask a few questions and the first thing he told us, without us asking, was that if we needed to stay a couple of extra days we could, and on him, free of rent. We also informed him we had extra people with us that decided to evacuate at the last minute and he said it was fine. Irma took a different path and instead of hitting the east coast of Florida it hit the west coast. We ended up leaving as planned and not needing the extra days but his offer made it a lot better for all of us staying in his property. The place is truly beautiful and the owner is very special. Thanks Kevin for being so kind and compassionate. God bless you and your family.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful, relaxing time. The home had plenty of room and everything we needed. The view was gorgeous. We attended a music festival and fireworks in Andrew, antiqued and drank craft beer in Bryson City, hiked every morning, and rafted the Nantahala. It was grand.

Perfectly maintained house on the top of a mountain

  • 4 of 5

This is a very comfortable vacation cabin with good beds for 8 people. We were just 3, so lots of room for everyone. But not much privacy as the wall between the 2 main bedrooms does not extend to the vaulted ceiling, so the bedrooms share light and noise. Everyone should go to bed at the same time.

The kitchen is fully stocked with basic supplies and there is a Mr Coffee maker with a filter. A Big grill conveniently sits on the deck.

The entrance is hidden, but once the owner sends directions this house is easy to find.

Enjoy

Beautiful Home With A Beautiful View!

  • 4 of 5

The owners were quick to respond to my questions prior to our trip. Soon after we booked the cabin the owner texted me the codes to get through the gate and into the home and some information on how to get to the cabin and said all we need to bring is food. No other information was given. We were 4 adults and 3 children. We drove up in separate cars from S. FL. We left our homes on 12/26 with intentions of stopping for the night. The other family decided to drive straight through. They arrived at the cabin early the morning of the 27th to find the cabin occupied. They had to wait until noon to get in. We didn't receive any instructions about arrival and departure times so it didn't dawn on us that there might be an issue when they decided to arrive early the morning of the 27th. The cleaning lady tried to hurry and did a fine job given the circumstances. We ended up putting pillowcases on and folding towels. The kids were all excited about checking out the down stairs but the cleaning lady said the door was locked and not even she could get down there. We accepted it. There are a few locked doors as would be expected. The second day as I was wandering around outside I happened to try to lift the garage door and realized that it wasn't locked. The garage was spacious and fairly empty so we decided it would be okay to use. There were no instructions or information laying around to let us know what we could and couldn't do. The kids had a fun time running around in the garage/basement. Some things to note: we had no cell phone service and there is no land line. I heard Verizon is the only carrier that gets signal. Plan ahead, you wont be surfing the internet to find activities once you start entering the mountains. Another thing to note that was quite interesting is the wall between 2 of the bedrooms (Master and 2nd bedroom that has a queen and two twins) does not go all the way to the ceiling. All noise was amplified between the two rooms. There was NO privacy whatsoever. I could hear someone from the other bedroom snoring and talking in his sleep. Aside from that, we LOVED the house and had such a wonderful, relaxing time. We visited Fontana Dam, Stecoah Gap trail, Several falls near Franklin (Bridal Vail, Dry, Falls, etc), took a long drive to the Lost Sea, Hiwassee Dam, Rufus-Morgan Trail and Falls, Wayah Bald Tower. We had to buy hand soap and paper towels and spent a lot of time hunting down wood to burn because not much was provided.

This cabin was perfect for my family. It felt more like home than a rental. The owners are very nice and quick to respond to any questions. More beautiful in person than in the pictures. I would give this cabin 10 stars if able. We will definitely use this rental property again!
