FROM PHILADELPHIA MAGAZINE
Two cultural VIPs (from the Curtis Institute and Kimmel Center) bought this roomy log cabin in 2013 as an escape from city life. Then they gave it an overhaul, adding the perfect mix of vintage elements (an enameled wood stove from Norway) and new stuff (spa-like bathrooms, a private suite) for a gorgeous upscale-yet-cozy look. Lucky for you they're willing to share. Drive 10 minutes and you'll find Lake Nockamixon, antiques shops, and quaint enclaves like Frenchtown.'

About Chuck Finch
I live in downtown Philadelphia in a 4 story townhouse built in 1803. I grew up in a family that developed property for over 100 years, so my love of interesting architecture and restoring houses is in my blood.
Chuck Finch purchased this House in 2012
Why Chuck Finch chose Upper Black Eddy
There is no type of property that offers such a distinctly warm and welcoming appeal as a log home. By updating the house without making it too contemporary, I think that Raspberry Hill has a unique combination of sophistication and rustic charm.
What makes this House unique
The outdoor property is very private and quite beautiful. Although a cozy log house, all of the technology and luxury you could ever want is available.

Great House! Will exceed your expectations
Very rarely do you pull up to a rental house and it far surpasses the pictures online. This house blew us away. Our group enjoyed an amazing long weekend at this beautiful home. The owner Chuck was so accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped and great to cook in. All the bedrooms were spacious and well appointed with comfortable beds. The fireplace was amazing and we really enjoyed the hot tub while it was snowing. I can't say enough about this home, we will definitely be back. I highly recommend as everything was absolutely perfect!
Perfect extended family weekend celebration!
Our family celebrated my parents’ 50tn wedding anniversary at this beautiful house. Ages 3 - 72 there was something for everyone. The new master suite was perfect for my parents: bright, sunny, first floor, comfortable and beautifully decorated.
The rest of the house was cozy and warm for 4 kids and their parents. We all used the hot tub and loved it! We cooked delicious dinners in the fully stocked kitchen and enjoyed them at the long dining table. This experience was pure luxury! Chuck was very responsive and kind. Wow!
I'm so glad your family had a great time at Raspberry Hill. You were wonderful guests, and I loved that your mother left comments in the visitors book in the living room.
All the best,
Amazing winter weekend
I can't say enough about the home, or responsiveness of the owner, Chuck. My large family gathered in this amazing home to celebrate my moms birthday, and it could not have been better. We all hope to visit again one day.
Family get-togethers are well suited to Raspberry Hill, and I'm so glad that the "Birthday Girl" had a great time.
You're a great bunch to treat your mom to such a fun celebration.
Super well kept and the kitchen amenities were fantastic. Chuck as beyond helpful and responsive and the entire experience was a joy. We are planning another trip to the house already!
A cosy and very charming house
Loved our stay, Charles is a very great man always available to help. A nice welcome gift was on the counter when we arrived, which makes it even better. Hot tub is definitely a plus. I only wish I knew there was no speakers so I would have brought mine. Bedrooms are very comfy and it’s such a quiet place, ideal for family reunion or peaceful week end between friends
So much fun texting back and forth during your stay. But you didn't read all of the manual I sent. The living room and dining room have JBL bluetooth stereo light bulb speakers in all the floor lamps. You could have been streaming music the whole time. There's also a Google Home, Mini, and next week a Max in the house.
Next time you come you'll be able to play music all over the place!
Perfect Thanksgiving Weekend
Upper Black Eddy was just perfect for our Thanksgiving family weekend. The property has a private setting and is quite and tranquil, with easy access to local amenities. The house is well appointed with comfortable beds, quality linens, properly furnished interiors, and a fabulous hot tub. The kitchen had every little thing we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving celebration. Chuck Finch was able to provide helpful responses to all of our questions, and provide recommendations to local attractions and services. Upper Black Eddy is our new favourite vacation house and we will look forward to our next stay. Highly recommended!
Thanks so much for the great review, Wesley. I'm so glad your trip from London was a happy one and that you had a perfect Thanksgiving with your boys.
We look forward to hosting you in the future!
Nestled on several acres of landscaped property, and surrounded by hundreds of acres of woodland and fields, your only neighbors are 2 horses and a red barn. Not visible from the road, the house is completely private, but minutes from wonderful antique stores, restaurants and state parks.
