Ocho Rios Pearl (aka “The Pearl”) is a privately owned ocean view two-bedroom Penthouse suite overlooking the resort town of Ocho Rios. The location is superb; nestled in a tropical garden on the side of the hill in downtown Ocho Rios. Within five minutes walk you will find shopping, restaurants, night club, cinema, you name it. It is also close to Jamaica’s most famous tourist attractions such as swimming with the dolphins at Dolphin Cove, climb the famous Dunn's River Falls or zip lining at Mystic Mountain to name a few. The Pearl is situated in Columbus Heights, a gated and secure vacation rental community with approximately 221 individually owned apartments used by owners as holiday retreats or vacation rentals. No where in Ocho Rios and perhaps Jamaica have a view quite like this. Come and see for yourself! You will love it.
The Pearl View
The sea view from The Pearl’s extra large balcony (balcony alone is 360 sq ft!) is nothing short of spectacular. You are so close to the water, you want to reach out and touch. The only thing that separates you from the sea is the hill, a road and some trees. You also have front-row-seats to the Ocho Rios Cruise Ship Pier to watch ships like Carnival Freedom arrive with hundreds of tourists. It is as if the ship is in your living room! Both bedrooms , and the living room enjoy this magnificent sea view.
Not to be outdone is the view of the beautiful, well manicured garden and pool from the kitchen, living room and both bathrooms. There is a beautiful view from every room in this Penthouse.

9-5 Services Included: Allow yourself to be pampered by your own personalized housekeeper, cook and nanny every day from 9-5 at no extra cost! That’s right, this service is included! Having personalized staff wait on you everyday adds to the enjoyment of your vacation especially if you are traveling with teenagers, young children or older family members. Your personalized staff will go to the market, buy groceries, wash your clothes (tokens are purchased for the laundry) take care of your loved ones and prepare all you meals. You only need to pay for the ingredients. This saves you hundreds of dollars on the cost of food since you can choose when to eat out! Meals can be arranged in advance for a seamless inclusive experience.
(N.B. for guest who wish to stay 30 days or more, housekeeping is done twice a week and the cook can be arranged at an extra cost. Also, monthly guest are required to pay their own hydro bills. This is because monthly guests are on a lease (unlike other guests) and so service and prices differ as a result.)
The Pearl Penthouse Features
Size: With a total of 1,200 sq ft, you will never what to stay anywhere else! Lot of room to relax and enjoy your vacation. The penthouse is on the second floor and is accessed by one flight of stairs.
Two Bedrooms and two bathrooms (sleeps 6): There are two bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom. The Master bedroom has a king size bed while the second bedroom has two twin beds that can easily be made into a king bed on request. The Pearl is designed for maximum privacy so that the bedrooms are separated by a large living and dining room. The bedroom sleeps two persons each and there is also a pull out sofa in the living room. This penthouse is suitable for one large family or two small families who would like to spend vacation together.
Living and Dining and large balcony: The large Open concept living and dining seamlessly leads out into the large balcony for amply entertaining space
Full Kitchen: The kitchen includes a full stove, large fridge, microwave, pots and pans, cutlery, dinnerware, etc. All that you need. Your housekeeper can whip up all your meals, if you like, especially if you have dietary restrictions.
Other features, at no extra charge: Wireless internet Access Included, TV and Blue Wray player with access to free movies included, Magic Jack telephone in master bedroom that allows unlimited free calls to US and Canada. The Pearl Amenities
White Sand Beaches: There are two beaches that are just five minutes walk down the hill. There is a beach at Island Village Shopping Centre in front of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. Only patrons of Margarita Ville get to use this beach. Just buy a drink before you swim.
There is also Ocho Rios beach which is a bigger two mile white sand beach. This is a pay per use beach. There is also a marina and boat launch on this beach. You can access water sports such as jet skies, glass bottom boat rides and scuba diving from this beach.
Swimming Pool: The swimming pool is at the bottom of the Penthouse steps right outside your door. The complex has a total of six swimming pools for your enjoyment.
Tennis Court: A large tennis court is less than five minutes walk up the hill
Large Gym: A private large gym is located on site. This is a paid gym, but when you see it, you won’t hesitate to pay the cover for your stay. It has every equipment you can imagine.
Laundry facilities: There is a coin laundry facility in the common area on site (not in the Penthouse).

Both my wife and l grew up in Jamaica and we are now residing in Canada. Ocho Rios is where my wife was born so she knows the place intimately. No where in Ocho Rios offers the spectacular views of Ocho Rios. The Pearl Penthouse is our opportunity to share the beautiful tradition and culture with the rest of the world.

Why Vernon chose Saint Ann Parish
One of the largest condos in this community (approx 1, 200 sq. ft) boasting 2 large bedroom, 2 ensuite bathrooms and sleeping up to 6 people, comfortably. This Penthouse suite is one floor from the ground by stairs for easy access and is complemented on the ground floor by a large swimming pool tucked away in a tropical oasis of flowers and trees. This penthouse has sea views to the north and pool views to the south (there is a magnificent view from every window!) The property boast amazing amenities such as six swimming pools, a mega gym(just 2 minutes away from the Penthouse) that has every equipment you can think of, as well as a large tennis court complemented by the awesome sea breeze and view.

It is a wonderful place to stay while enjoying Jamaica!
The Pearl is accurately described and reflected well in the pictures. It is kept very clean. The was the first property my husband and I used as part of HomeAway. We have been there twice in the last six months.
While the property has a great view, you will hear traffic noise since it is located above one the main thoroughfares.
The overall property is very hilly, which will provide a great cardio workout.

This is indeed a wonderfully laid out penthouse with an amazing view! Ocho Rios is a fabulous location in Jamaica. My husband, sons and I enjoyed an entire week and still had lots left on our 'want to do' list. The condo was sparkling clean when we arrived and stayed that way thanks to Michelle. It was great to have Michelle's advice about places; she even accompanied us to the local market for fresh local fruits and vegetables at the local, rather than tourist, prices. The Jamaican meals she prepared for us were so tasty too. The owners are great to work with and very responsive to questions, requests and needs. We look forward to recommending this condo to friends and family.
Wonderful view, everything else a let down
First let me clarify the owners response concerning the bedroom AC in the master bedroom. It was not replaced until we stayed there. It packed in on our first night. We then had to wait around the condo for four days while a new one was installed. Although the unit was being installed by a relative of the owner he told us not to trust him and to have someone in the condo at times the workmen were there. We waited two days before anyone turned up and a further two days until the installation was complete. Four days of our vacation wasted. The AC in the second bedroom never did work and the one in the living room was disconnected. After having it reconnected and seeing the amount of electricity it used I can see why. Beware, if you are a long stay guest you have to pay for the electricity which in Jamaica is horrendously expensive. As for the updated kitchen it is true there is granite counter top installed but the cupboards are in a very poor state. The apartment was absolutely filthy when we arrived and as the owner has already stated his regular housekeeper was on vacation, not for the two weeks we were told but for three months. I'm sorry to say that Michelle was not much of an improvement. She helped herself to any food she fancied without asking. When we brought this to the owners attention he just said that was the local culture. We could not use the closet in the master bedroom because it smelled of mold. When the AC was being installed the dressing table had to be moved, the dirt behind it was terrible there was even an empty insulin pen. Under the couch which has been stated as being very uncomfortable was some sort of stain plus mountains of dust which we were accused of making. The office staff as has been stated are no use at all. Everything seems too much trouble. It was stated that a local cell phone would be provided which it was but it was not activated and could not be used. I could go on but I think anyone reading this will get the point. I would have given it one star but the view gets an extra star. Everything stated in the previous negative review is true.

“Michelle (the housekeeper) is back and I am very pleased…We went out today and came back to a beautiful clean apartment, we are very pleased, Michelle addressed our issues and the place is sparkling clean” … Thank you again for addressing our issues, the new A/C in the 2nd bedroom is working like a charm…sleeping like a baby.”
Is this the same persons who wrote the review above?
We will admit, there were a few issues during their stay, but nothing that was not addressed. The A/C in one of the bedroom died while they were using it and the regular cleaner Michelle was away. The housekeeper the office used to replace Michelle is an older woman who is not as capable as Michelle.
We the owners acted promptly to address ALL their issues, hence the email from Mr. D thanking us.
We didn’t just address their issues. We went way beyond! We did a major upgrade of the apartment after they checked out. This includes:
· The A/C in the master bedroom was also replaced, resulting in 2 brand new A/Cs
· The entire penthouse was professionally painted from top to bottom
· All doors and cabinets were professionally spray painted
· The safe in the master bedroom was replaced. The old safe worked, but many guest found it hard to use.
· The patio chairs and balcony were re-painted
· ALL sofas was professionally cleaned
· More mesh was put on the windows
· The kitchen was refreshed.
The result?: EVERY GUESTS WHO STAYED AFTER THE DAVIES GAVE THE PENTHOUSE FIVE STARS! These are not just VRBO guests but guests from other rental sites as well. See Sara’s review on VRBO above. She stayed at the Penthouse after Mr. D.
So, does the penthouse deserve this rating because issues came up during their stay? In the true spirit of rating a vacation rental, it is not the fact that there are issues that should determine the rating; it should be what the owners/managers do with these issues. Do you feel like a valued customer and are your issues addressed? Using Phyllis and Keith's own words, “…Thank you again for addressing our issues, ”.
We asked VRBO for an opportunity to review these guests but since Mr. D took as long as 4 months to post their review, we were not given an opportunity to voice our opinion. These guests used loopholes in VRBO to avoid being reviewed! Many of the staff expressed relief when they checked out because they were overbearing.
View was outstanding but other aspects of condo and condo property were lacking.
The condo property landscaping was well attended to, but the buildings, were in poor shape, many of the buildings had black mould on the exterior and needed a good cleaning. Our pool in phase 1 lacked the necessary attention and the pool chairs were in disrepair.
The condo was marketed as newly renovated, with a well equipped kitchen. The kitchen could only be considered well equipped if eating out was your thing; it was a good thing that we never had dinner guests. The balcony was very spacious and the seating was ample, one of the chairs was broken, and it is difficult to understand why I discovered it needed repair. The chair was taken and returned fixed. The side table of the double rocker was lacking a nut to secure the board from tipping, I provided the screw to the office and in the four weeks it was never repaired. A safe in the closet did not work, it was discovered that this was a problem from a previous review. I complained of ants in the condo and that was never resolved. The living room furnishings were not very comfortable and the bedroom furniture was dated. The second bedroom had no dresser for clothes, we had to use end tables which were not adequate.
The "Pearl Experience" was of no help, every question was answered with an I don't know shrug, it seemed the office had many "Chiefs" and there were only a few "Indians".
I would have given a two and a half rating but the review allowed only whole stars.
This guest stayed in my condo for a month. When someone is practically living there on a lease contract (different price and service arrangement than a weekly guest by the way) at least one issue is bound to come up. I always reach out to all my guests on a regular basis to ensure they are completely satisfied.
This guest did not mention these issues while he was there, despite my attempts to reach out to him on several occasions. I was aware that he was not particularly happy with the Jamaican culture (people,island time, etc) since he had never stayed in Jamaica for any extended period of time before and was not use to the culture. This may have tainted his impression of his stay. None of the issues he is now pointing out are big issues. They could have been easily addressed. In addition, my apartment has been renovated with granite countertop, new oven, new bath tub and toilets, a new a/c in the master bedroom, etc. My regular helper and cook was away, so I hired a substitute. Since the substitute was am older woman, I can only assume Willi was not very happy with her. Glad to say that Michelle, my regular staff is back and she always gets raving reviews from all guests.
As an owner, my guests enjoyment is very important and they must be well taken care of during their stay. I take great pride in my penthouse and always go the extra mile to make my guest happy.
The property was all that was described online. The owner was great to speak with before getting to the location. This is a lovely getaway in the Ocho Rios area. It offers quiet surroundings on the property and if you need to get to a restaurant or shopping it is within walking distance. The place was clean and kept cleaned everyday. The number 1 asset is the view. The word gorgeous sums it up. It overlooks the bay of Ocho Rios. I would definitely recommend to anyone who asks. Had a great time there.

This is a beautiful place to stay. Me and my husband enjoyed our vacation and Michelle is wonderful. She is a great cook and made sure our place kept clean and tidy. We surely miss the place and the beautiful view from the balcony..
Ocho Rios is arguably the best tourist areas in Jamaica. We are overlooking the cruise ship pier where thousands of tourist visit every year. Lots to do including swimming with dolphins, climbing famous dunes ver falls, mystic mountain, horseback riding on the beach, etc. a must see is the reggae explosion museum which explores the history of reggae music and the Jamaican culture

Rates are quoted per room per night in CDN dollars per EP plan. It also includes a full time cook and housekeeper at no extra cost for weekend and weekly guests. Monthly guests terms are different see below. Rates are based on double occupancy. Children under 12 are free traveling with 2 adults. For each extra person over 12 there is a $20 per night charge. **For guest staying close to 30 days where the monthly VRBO rate apply, the following are on a lease and the following terms apply: -- Guests are Required to pay their own hydro bills --Housekeeping is included for ONLY 2 days a week --No cooking is included.
