Our group of 8 stayed here over Easter week, and had the time of our life. This was one of the first homes built on Flamingo, one of only a handful of white sand beaches in Costa Rica. It is been beautifully maintained. The carved Tico-style huge hardwood doors and ceilings were spectacular, and the house is enormous due to the circular style built around an interior courtyard. 3 of the four bedrooms have ocean views.
The house has, in our opinion, the best position on the beach. It is down near the end where tourists do not come, and has big shade trees to escape the sun. There are 165 stone & concrete steps down to the beach, so might be a concern to some. But we had no issues, and there is a little storage building with supplied boogie boards and rinse off halfway up. The upside is that it holds a commanding position above the beach, and provides cooling breezes even on the hottest days. I can't tell you how many hours we spent in the infinity pool and on the huge covered porch, just staring at the beauty, watching one colorful sunset after the other, and having frozen drinks. There is a fridge right on the porch which keeps drinks ice cold. Also, the best surfing spot is right off the rocky point in front of you, so that was part of the show. We were also visited by many colorful birds, and at least in April, there was a non-stop dragonfly show just in front of the porch. DO NOT feed any of the wildlife. A huge iguana lives on the property, and some howler monkeys moved in behind the house halfway thru our week. So fun watching them.
The house also came with two wonderful housekeepers, who would come in to clean every day, do dishes, and even did laundry for us. Also, a security guard all night and to open and close the massive metal gates when you come & go in your car. And a gardener/pool person most every morning.
Just an eight minute walk down to the beach and over, is Coco Loco, one of the best restaurants in the area, right on the sand! We ate there three times during our 8 day stay. Our group of 8 world travelers agreed it was the coolest house we've ever stayed in. If you have a group going to Flamingo, and love unique adventures, just stay here, you won't regret it! Pura Vida!
We just returned from a week at this beautiful relaxing amazing house with three other couples. As soon as we walked thru the front gate, we were wowed by the unique flowing architecture and AMAZING views of the ocean. The onsite staff including overnight security, cleaned the house, pool and laundry each day, making this a worry free vacation. While I work remotely, I had to tend to business during vacation, but with the free WiFi, everyone's devises worked well and we all were happy being as connected as we wanted. That said, we are all big readers and the house lends itself to quite nooks to read in sun, shade or air conditioning. Each room has their own bathroom, a/c and privacy. Wildlife abounds and we saw many new birds, plants and heard howler monkeys in the morning. Can't say enough about the quality of food at Coco Loco - for a beach bar it was great. Try the ceviche! The Concierge can arrange a variety of activities and we took advantage of the private chef who cooked and cleaned and we were very surprised at the affordability of that luxury. Did I mention the views?
We have stayed at this lovely Casa on three different occasions. Once in June, July, and during the busy season in December/ January. We've probably stayed a total of 8 weeks here. We absolutely LOVE this house, it's location, and the INCREDIBLE views.
We love the infinity pool after a day at the beach. We have watched whales frolic , fish school, as well as skates glide through the water.
We have a family of five with twin 5 year olds and a 10 year old. There is plenty of room for us and another family to stay very comfortably. We feel VERY secure and well taken care of by the staff. That means a lot when you have little ones.
I love the location as well. The house is not that far from the airport, Tamarindo for shopping, and many other beautiful beaches. We like to walk to dinner on the beach at Coco Loco. It's a favorite of ours. There is a tourist company right in Flamingo that will pick you up at the front door! It's endless beauty and fun. We always plan our next trip before we leave because we miss this place so.
Flamingo Beach is close to other activities too! Enjoy day trips to see volcanoes and local markets, or try the adrenaline rush that comes with a zipline canopy tour or white water river kayak experience. For educational experiences, visit the Monkey Park, a rehabilitation center for primates, a herpetarium with local reptiles, butterfly farms and coffee plantations.
