Pets are acceptable but we just had new rugs installed. Pets must be house trained PLEASE!! They must be leashed at all times when outdoors. Neighbors have 2 black labs, and another neighbor has a yellow lab. Very friendly but running loose.
Boat house contains two kayaks, a canoe, a dinghy, inflatable rafts, paddles, and life-jackets which renters are welcome to use. They MUST be hosed off and returned clean to the boathouse.
There are 2 fire pits: one on the beach and one beside the house. There are piles of firewood (in the woods) available for burning in the firepits. Please don't have fires if too windy!
There is fishing and crabbing off the dock. 4 large crab traps are available for use - Chicken necks may be available in the freezer.
Owner's power boat is parked on a trailer near the boat house. Owner's 30 foot sailboat is moored at the end of the dock. If owner comes down to Annapolis for boating while property is rented, renters will be invited to go for a boat ride.
If you return the property in the same clean and orderly condition as it was when you checked-in, you will avoid a $200 cleaning fee. In addition to routine house cleaning, clean-up includes bagging all interior and exterior trash in large, black plastic bags (which are provided) and placing bags in lower level of the house. Sunday night trash must be taken to the top of our driveway for collection early Monday morning.
To finalize reservations, guests are requested to sign a standard 'Rental Agreement' which summarizes the applicable dates, security deposit, rent, and house rules.
My parents were the original owners of property. When they passed it was passed down to me and my brother and sister. I try to keep up with the tax payments by renting it out and so far people have really enjoyed the place!
Sharon Cappeluti purchased this house in 1960
At first it was a jungle and you couldn't see water because it was a creek full of seaweed and wildlife! But about 1970, all that changed. DDT killed off the seaweed and made it into a boat able paradise!
It's peaceful there. You can swim, fish, try to catch crabs, or just relax in a hammock.
Our family had a wonderful 3 day weekend at the lovely waterfront property. Gary was friendly and a perfect host even offering to take us out on his sailboat. The pictures of the A-frame, the grounds, and dock were accurate enough, but the place has even more charm in person. We grilled on the deck and took the kayaks out for a tour around Mill Creek. If you want a relaxing place on the water, have a family or group of friends that are comfortable with dormitory sleeping arrangements, there are lots of ways here to be entertained.
This cabin was perfect for our weekend family getaway. Stunning waterfront views and plenty of space for our kids to run around outside. Owner met us upon arrival to show us the ropes, which was very helpful. The beds were comfortable and the loft-style sleeping arrangement was very cozy. Our kids especially loved the "crow's nest" at the top! The drive to Annapolis to was quick and easy. We would absolutely love to come back and stay again!
One slight word of caution: the cabin is not set up to accommodate very young children (open stairway, large gaps between railing at the top of the stairs). Our two and half year old was old enough to navigate the stairs properly and stay away from the railing, but a younger child would have to be watched very carefully.
I enjoyed this place for the surrounding nature. The house was ok. It eventually got warm after we figured out how to turn on the heat. Overall it was clean(except for the large spiderwebs in the ceiling upstairs). Overall the place is ok, but i think it has great potential to be better. Here are some suggestions I have that would defintely get the owners of this place more business.
Paint the exterior, or update the wood.
Paint the interior (especially upstairs)...a lighter color will allow the natural light to come in more
Take away the bunk beds(they look kind of scary)
Renovate the upstairs bathroom completely
Update the kitchenette with newer appliances, cabinetry, countertops, & lighting
Add sufficient task lighting upstairs...maybe track or spot lights
Update furniture downstairs
Update the windows all over the house
Have better outdoor lighting (it gets super dark at night)
Get rid of the old musty smell
Manicure the grounds better
Update/modernize the front porch(paint, or stain the wood)
Update heating/cooling system. (when the heat is turned on it smells slightly as though something is burning)
I found this place very charming & its in such a nice neighborhood. I think it should match or upshow its fellow houses. Im sure its the smallest property, but small can be modern, cozy, and cool. Thanks for a quiet, peaceful abode.
Just wanted to say thanks to the owners for being great hosts. I had a group of 10 travel from the Philadelphia area this past weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is not luxurious but what it lacks in “new modern” it more than makes up in charm and atmosphere. It is an outdoor paradise with a perfect water front location. Be prepared for fantastic views of the creek, woods, and fields. It is the perfect accommodations for a large group looking for reasonable, no-frills enjoyment in the outdoors. We spent hours on the dock, kayaking, playing lawn games, sitting by the fire and bbq’ing. The briar patch is a little slice of heaven.
Excellent vacation site -- my regret was not allowing enough time at the property to enjoy the water. House is comfortable, neat, well stocked for traveler's needs. Owners very available, responsive and helpful. Property was well maintained and clean, and easy to clean up after we stayed. Very close to Annapolis
This place is all we dreamed it would be! Cozy, charming, clean, well stocked with all your basic needs. It has a true Walton Family feel. 11 of us from Miami, Orlando, Tenn. and Annapolis all gathered and shared My Mothers 70th Birthday and Our Easter celebration at "The Blairpatch" April 17- 20. There were a wide variety of games and movies. Lots of room to just be still and visit. The grounds were breathtaking! Many places for perfect picture taking. Amazing egg hunt! Blazing evening with a campfire and marshmallows.
The boat house was fully equipped with a row boat,a canoe, 2 kayaks, life vests of all sizes, anything you might need to spend the day on the water! The Kitchen was well stocked with your basics pots and pans dishes, utensils, spices, Garbage bags, wow I could go on and on. Bottom line we would stay there again!!!!!!! Highly recommended for a relaxing family get together, Thank you Sharon and George for making our special time together a priceless experience. Cindy..
We are One Creek north of the Naval Academy. GPS says 13 minutes away by car. Could be 20 with traffic.
