About Kathy Smith

We both were born and raised and grew up in this wonderful area. Our children were born here and this is where our heart is. We moved to California when our children were small for work and always vowed to return. We would visit frequently and stay with family or in this beautiful cabin. When the cabin became available to purchase we were so excited. We now can come and stay when we want and our children and grandchildren can enjoy it and this beautiful area for ever. It is truly a hide away and very much enjoyed by all.

Kathy Smith purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Kathy Smith chose Ashton

Sleep in the shadow of the Grand Tetons, near Yellowstone and within an 'stones throw' of some of the greatest fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling in the world. This is great quiet location, perfect to escape from it all. We are near some of the greatest fishing in the world; Henry's Fork of the Snake River, Warm River, and Fall River.

What makes this cabin unique

Spring and Summer you have the greatest place to hike - the back end of Yellowstone National park that provides multiple hiking trails. You can hike from the southwest end of the park, which is only 14 miles from the cabin, into Yellowstone's Old Faithful. Plus World renown flying fishing only minutes away. A maintained bike trail from Ashton to West Yellowstone provides you the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful area. Winter, some of the greatest snowmobiling and X-country skiing in the world. Peaceful and charming getaway

Great family cabin with plenty of room for our family of 6. Very peaceful setting with all the amenities. A little hard to find the driveway, but worth every penny. We would definitely stay here again!

Loved it! Perfect for our nature loving family

  • 5 of 5

What a perfect place to spend time with our Yellowstone Park Ranger son! As vacation rental owners ourselves, we are quite particular about the standard of a vacation rental.

Right from the start, I appreciated Kathy's warm, helpful and honest demeanor. My husband was looking for a place with some level of privacy, so he could enjoy the stars and not have to listen to the late night bonfire stories of neighbors, or be in the mix of the hustle-bustle.

While there is technically a neighbor down the driveway, we actually forgot they were there since the long U-shaped driveway actually has 2 entrances. We easily just used the connecting entryway, which took us directly to the cabin. We were thrilled with the amenities the cabin provided, from basic spices, coffee filters to the comfortable linens and towels, toilet paper and paper towels.

I read many books in the screened in porch. My older son loved watching some Direct TV since he had spent the summer in the back-country of Yellowstone. My 8 year old & I loved having WiFi, since I was able to check in with the office and he loves his online games. Still, we all spent more time enjoying the deck and the outside, just gazing at the stars.

We went to downtown a couple times for dinner and found ourselves excited to return to this ideal cabin. The drive in to the cabin, while gazing at the Tetons was so easy and peaceful. Too bad we aren't golfers, since you are practically adjacent to the golf course.

There were so many things to love about this cabin. Ease just keeps coming to mind. We loved being able to have access to the washer/dryer. It saved my Ranger son a trip to the laundromat. I also loved the deep tub connecting to the master bathroom. Aaahh......

Upstairs was great for the boys to sleep. We didn't even touch the downstairs beds, as this cute place could hold many more people than just the 4 of us. Still, we definitely didn't feel lost in this larger home. It is ideal for all size groups.

I can't thank Kathy enough for the opportunity to stay in her wonderful place. We would definitely stop back here again the next time we are at Yellowstone or The Grand Tetons. Thank you thank you!

Sincerely,

Cara

Amazing!!!

  • 5 of 5

Where does one start? The cabin had more than enough room for the 9 of us. It has a cozy, homey feel from the moment you walk in. It's very well kept and clean. With three floors it's very spacious yet inviting. The kitchen has all the essentials including a pantry area to keep extra coolers, food etc. the screened in patio is great for morning coffee and the fire pit out front is perfect for making s'mores under the stars. This cabin is secluded and quiet but close enough to town in case you need to make a trip to the local market. The scenery is gorgeous!!! Mesa Falls is a must see! And the local farmers market in downtown Ashton is awesome if you like homemade crafts, food and really nice locals. Definitely recommend staying here!!

Beautiful location near Ashton Idaho

  • 5 of 5

Each year my family and I rent a cabin and in particular, as an amateur astronomer, I am always on the lookout for a getaway under dark skies. So far this has been the best for both the views of the night sky and the beautiful scenery. I can't say enough about sitting on the screened-in porch listening to the sounds of the forest. The cabin was very comfortable and well kept. We were able to visit Yellowstone Park and some of the nearby waterfalls. And the best part, as far as the kids were concerned, was the old fashioned sodas at the pizzaria in Ashton. We highly recommend this great cabin for anyone looking for a relaxing, secluded getaway.
