About Jane Huntington

Peter and I have been owners at Sapphire Village for 14 years. We have enjoyed the Caribbean for many years and love sharing our vacation home with others.

Jane Huntington purchased this condo in 2004

Why Jane Huntington chose Red Hook

After searching all the islands in the Caribbean, we settled on the beautiful island of St Thomas. With it's close proximity to St John many of our renters enjoy taking the ferry back and's like having 2 vacations in one. The snorkeling at Sapphire Beach is the best on the island, you can see that from my photos.

What makes this condo unique

We spend most of our time on the balcony. Enjoying the fantastic vistas over the Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands. While renovating our condo we wanted to keep true to the unique character of the original architecture. The arch in the kitchen and the textured walls you will see throughout the Caribbean. Watching the action in the Marina with the fishermen, jet skis and parasails, is a sport in itself. Having the extra space in the one bedroom and the large kitchen and bath make for a very roomy and relaxing vacation.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you Jane for a wonderful carefree vacation!

The location is excellent, a very short walk to an amazing beach and a mile to the ferry dock if you'd like to visit St. John or Tortola.

Jane has thought of everything to make visitors feel welcome. There are brochures about everything on St. Thomas and the neighboring islands. Everything about our stay here in this rental was excellent. EVERYTHING

I recommend this rental 100%.

Our stay was fabulous, couldn't have asked for a better time.

Fantastic location - exactly what you need!

  • 5 of 5

I spent 4 weeks in this lovely 1 bedroom condo near Red Hook in St. Thomas. I made the most of this trip and was able to do a lot. Everything you need is here. They have towels, a small but perfect kitchen if you want to cook in, 2 A/C units, some games, internet, and some basic tv channels. It is very well maintained and clean. It has a fantastic view of Sapphire Marina and you can easily see Shark Island, Thatch, Jost Van Dyke and other islands. It's beautiful. My favorite part however is the location. Red Hook is my favorite area of the island. Between Red Hook and Sapphire Marina, you can go and do anything you want. Ferries to other islands, day trips, parasail, jet ski, you name it. And if you need a dive boat - use Aqua Marine St. Thomas. They are great and their dive boat leaves from just the other side of Red Hook. The pool is warm and always clean. There's a restaurant next to it if you want something quick/convenient. It really is a fantastic place. After staying here for so long I met many locals and they all want to live at Sapphire Village. Finally, the owners are fantastic. They communicated everything I needed and kept me up to date on some construction that was happening on site. Not to mention, Jane, is just one of the nicest people going. Thanks for sharing your place with me and I can't wait to return!!!

Truly fantastic!!! I would love to stay here again!

  • 5 of 5

Jane's home was welcoming the minute we walked in the front door, and all we could see was the amazing blue water directly in front of us!!! The photos on the site didn't do it justice! Also, the restaurant on-site is fantastic and so convenient and also pool-side. Booking our stay with Jane was so easy and she is wonderful to work with. Although the ferry and downtown Red Hook are technically "walking distance", you might want to consider taking a cab as the road is windy and narrow when cars are passing. The cabs are always there within 4 minutes - seriously! So you want to factor that into your cost (basically $8-$10 each way for two of us), BUT, there is also a "Safari" taxi/open air bus" that can get you to town for @ $2, but it only goes in one direction around the island. Jane provides FANTASTIC notes about all of this and MORE, which was so great! We really loved our stay - her home was like HOME - very personal and being there was such an enhancement to our stay! I would say we took the ferry almost every day; next time we'll book this condo again and do more on St. Thomas too!

Beautiful place by the ocean

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this place speaks relax, enjoy, you are on island time. Beautiful and very clean condo overlooking sapphire beach. Waking up and having breakfast on the balcony overlooking the spectacular views of the Virgin Islands, walking down to the beach for some sun or snorkeling on their very own coral reef, having a cold drink or something to eat at the on property restaurant Slice VI after a day at the beach. Snorkeling equipment, beach towels, beach chairs provided. This property also has a Marina where you can schedule a day trip to see the Virgin Islands, snorkeling, etc. Close to Red Hook and the Ferry to St John - it's a quick 2 minute safari bus ride. We will be back.

Could not have asked for more...Perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

A friend and I rented this unit after booking a somewhat last-minute trip. The airfare was low, and we were ready to go!!! :) The owner was very easy to work with and answered my questions very promptly. We both found the unit to be very clean and really nicely decorated. We used both the bed and the sofa bed in the living room, and both of us slept very comfortably. The view is outstanding...I mean outstanding! It really offered everything we needed to have a great stay, and we did! I just checked availability for next Spring (which will be my 3rd trip in 12 months) and it is booked, but I will definitely stay again in the future. Highly recommend. Thanks so much!

Great unit/great location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just returned from two wonderful weeks in St. Thomas. We feel very fortunate we landed this incredible unit through VRBO. 3rd floor unit with truly the best views at Sapphire Village. The unit is well equipped, a great floor plan, clean, comfortable, homey, and well taken care of. We will be back and are very grateful to the owners for sharing their special home away from home.

Great place to stay on the island

  • 4 of 5

Located just outside of Red Hook the condo is perfect for visitors with or without a car. It is modern, clean and very well equipped for any length of stay with magnificent views. There is a queen bed in the bedroom and a pull out sofa in the living room. The mattress was nice and firm for me but my wife thought it was a bit too hard, I guess everybody has their own preference when it comes to mattresses. The pull out is what you would accept, it is what it is. The dishwasher was broken during our stay so did dishes by hand. Marina and Sapphire beach is just a short stroll through the parking lot. Sapphire beach has everything you would want, white sand, water sports, snorkeling so there is really no need to visit other beaches other than the ones on St John that can be reached from the marina in Red Hook (about 2 minute by car). Great BBQ joint at the entrance to the resort and lots of places to shop, eat and catch some good happy hour drinks in Red Hook. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the frequent power outages (4 nights out of 5) we experienced during our stay. I learned that it is a common occurrence on the island and the locals have learned to deal with it. To sum it up, could be 5 stars if you don't mind going without power for periods of time, otherwise it's definitely a top notch place.
