Loved it...great location between Blowing Rock and Boone

  • 4 of 5

Our family loved it for a long 4th of July weekend. It was close to everything and it had a great mountain view. We went to Tweetsie Railroad one day, Grandfather Mountain/Blue Ridge Parkway another, White Water rafting another, and toured through Blowing Rock and Boone another. The three bedrooms and 2 baths were perfect for our family of six. Master Bedroom was upstairs, which was nice for a little privacy. It does have a decent stairway up/down walk to the cabin, so if you have trouble with stairs, it would be a problem. But our family enjoyed the extra exercise and with the mild temps it wasn't a big issue. It doesn't have washer/dryer access, so if you are staying for an extended period of time keep that in mind, but the kitchen was great (dishwasher!) and we made several meals. We also liked that it had AC! Really wasn't necessary because the temps are so great during the summer, but it helped a few times. Overall, we will be back and stay in this cabin.

Beautiful cabin on the ski mountain

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is located on Appalachian Ski Mountain about half a mile from the entrance to the ski slope (which we couldn’t take advantage of in the summer but would love to use in the winter). There is a parking area for about 4 cars up by the road and stairs that lead down to the front door which gives you a very quiet and secluded feel but if you have trouble with stairs this may be a concern. The upper porch is great for eating out and the lower porch has a nice hot tub looking off the side of the mountain at woods and trees. There is a fire pit area which was fun for the kids in the evening (we roasted marshmallows). This cabin is minutes away from both downtown Boone and Blowing Rock and is about a mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway where there are overlooks and hiking everywhere. Tweetsie Railroad is just down the mountain and if you sit on the porch you can hear the train whistle in the distance which really added to the mountain experience. Overall we had a very relaxing experience and plan to come back.

Great place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

Great view from the porch. Trees and mountains everywhere you look. We ate breakfast there every morning with the birds that came to visit. You can hear the steam whistle from Tweetsie Railroad echoing throughout the valley. The ski slope is just up the road (less than 5 minutes away). We were surprised at how fast the internet access was (important if you have a teenager like we do). We had a good time shopping in Boone which is not too far away. Plenty of other things to do in the region. Next time we visit Blowing Rock, we'll definitely stay there again. We enjoyed our week of mountain living. : )
