Spacious apartment in Boston
This apartment was large enough that our family of 12 had plenty of room to spread out and not feel crowded. The bonus was the bedroom with 3 bunk beds - perfect for the younger children while the other bedrooms were very comfortable for the adult couples and one college aged traveler. it is quite attractive, with redone hardwood floors, IKEA furniture, and comfortable beds. It is on two floors with three bedrooms and one bath downstairs and the other two bedrooms and two baths on the first floor. It is the last house at the end of a dead end street so relatively quiet though in the middle of the city. The Boston T (metro) has a stop at the bottom of the hill and within walking distance are interesting restaurants. After we arrived, we noticed a few problems, but Mariana answered our calls and took care of the problems promptly.
On the whole this was a good place to stay, convenient and comfortable.
However, for us, the parking was problematic. The two parking spaces are in a long, single lane driveway next to the house. When we arrived, the renters in the other apartment had parked their car at the top of the drive so there was no space for us at all, and we had three cars. Mariana called the other renters who did move their car back far enough for us to park one car in the drive, but one of our cars had to be parked quite far away, on the main road where weekday parking was limited to two hours. Luckily, we were there on a weekend. As we left the next morning for a day away on public transportation, as an after thought and because there was an empty parking space on the street, we moved our car out of the driveway. When we returned in the late afternoon the other car was gone. Had we not moved ours, they would have been stuck. That night, not knowing if anyone was coming in the other apartment, we parked all cars on the street, afraid our cars would be blocked in when we wanted them the next morning. Unfortunately, one car was parked in a "handicapped" zone and towed to the tune of $90. There were no signs, no markings on the pavement, only an almost imperceptible lowering of the curb for a bike or wheelchair to cross the street. That afternoon, we returned to find the new renters of the other apartment had parked at the top of the drive, effectively giving us no parking again. If you are lucky and have the whole place to yourselves or if the other renters don't have a car, the parking is great. Otherwise, beware.
Very disappointed with our experience at this house. House wasn’t clean upon arrival, several items broken and/or didn’t work. Couldn’t use toilet paper on toilets which should have been stated in advertisement especially for groups with kids. Not practical. Wires hanging from ceiling, lights didn’t work, ac didn’t work, list goes on and on. Location was practical but that’s about it.
