Renovated 4 BR/2BA Home with view of Clemson and walkable to Clemson Marina
This freshly renovated lake house has all of the comforts of home, and is located within earshot of the roars from Death Valley. Right across the lake from Clemson University, you can watch Clemson's row team practice and you are 4 miles to the center of the stadium which is a 9 minute drive. You are also exactly .5 miles to Clemson Marina, a great place for the family to eat, drink, and relax while taking a break from boating on Lake Hartwell.
This house has 4 bedrooms, the master has a king size bed and the other 3 bedrooms have queens. Sleeps 8. There are two completely new bathrooms with a shower/tub combo. The kitchen, living area, and dining are all open to each other, so everyone can comfortably hang out together and watch the game on the Hi Def Flat Screen TV mounted on the fireplace. The living area is also a great place for playing a game of chess or board games on the large coffee table. The kitchen has a eat in area with 4 bar stools and the dining room has seating for 8, so eating can be as formal or informal as you wish.
The large grassy backyard has a firepit and a platform dock in a protected cove with access to beautiful Lake Hartwell.
There is plenty of parking - you can park all the cars and your boat trailer easily. From the front porch you can see people enjoying the lake, rowing team events, and the Clemson Walker Golf Course. Boat dock is in a private cove or make arrangements to use our 20 foot boat slip at Clemson Marina as needed. Clemson football weekends require special pricing.

We purchased this home because it is a quiet, peaceful, clean, private home near Clemson University, with the added bonus of a dock for fishing and boating on Lake Hartwell! Awesome combination!

Nice home, but there is not access to the lake
The home is a nice rental, and worked fine for our weekend at a horse show. Very short commute to Clemson.
However, it is not a lakefront and has very little of a lake view. The pictures are misleading as well as person who manages the home. She called to tell me the lake was down a little, so we would not be able to get a boat in the cove at the back of the home. But there would be no problem with a kayak, and there was lake access directly across the road. Not true.
Cove has been dry for months, and access to water was blocked by trees and was couple hundred yards away. There is no access across the street. Private property with private docks. Only water access was at the Clemson Marina half a mile away.
Owner should remove photos of the lake because it is very misleading.
When you called to book the home, I explained that the water was down 8 feet on Lake Hartwell, and that there was no water in the cove behind our home. There is a path on core of engineers property across the street to the right of the private homes which is for public use and is where the Clemson rowing team competitions can be viewed. Additionally we have rented a boat slip at Clemson Marina less than a half a mile away specificly for this season of low water conditions. Both are alternative spaces to launch a kayak. All of this was explained before your booking. So sorry that you were dissappointed.
Wonderful home for family football weekend
Lovely home that comfortably accommodated our family for a long football weekend. I stayed home with the grandbaby and you can truly hear the roar from the stadium as the Tigers scored. It was great to be so close to campus while at the lake. We will be booking again next year!
An Excellent Choice!
Tailgate (I love the name!):
The property is private, well-furnished, and well-appointed. The interior is decorated beautifully and the kitchen is modern and functional. Housekeeping was immaculate.
It felt like home from the minute we got there. The huge front yard is great for family sports or eclipse watching. The back covered deck is perfect for enjoying breakfast, cocktails, or dinner prepared on the charcoal grill (we did 'em all).
Now for a short haiku:
We came to Tailgate
to watch the total eclipse.
It was fantastic!
We are not Clemson fans (nothing against Clemson, we're from California) but I can see how this would be a great place for a football weekend getaway. When the sun went dark, we could hear the cheers from the stadium from across the lake. We did tour the campus, and had a wonderful southern lunch at Palmetto Oyster Bar (highly recommended).
The lake was a bit low for us to use the private dock but it was an easy walk from the house to the Marina, where we enjoyed a beer and a swim.
Seriously, I don't think we'll ever stay in a hotel again. After the eclipse, we stayed an extra day just because it was so relaxing. We explored from the Dillard House in GA to the Nantahala Gorge. With 4 bedrooms, we gathered the family from across America and had a wonderful time.
Thank you, Susan. Definitely 5 stars!
This house was great! Nice layout and beds were comfortable. We were in town for the spring game with kids and there was plenty of yard space for them to run around. Would definitely stay here again!
Wonderful Clemson Football Weekend
My friends and I have stayed in many private homes and hotels for Clemson football weekends since we graduated 10 years ago, and this was by far the most enjoyable. It is a cozy home with four bedrooms, with plenty of space for 8 adults. It is a 2 minute drive (if that) from the Clemson marina where we rented a pontoon boat for a day-long cruise on Lake Hartwell (gorgeous). And the house is a quick drive downtown and to campus, which made it easy to pop in and out, as well as have friends come by for a visit. Susan was wonderful, very responsive and professional. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
More than adequate
My family stayed at the Tailgate for the weekend of a newphews wedding in Clemson. Place was clean, comfortable, a good location. Much better than a hotel. Best part was working with Susan. She was very attentive to our needs and it made for a much more pleasurable trip. THANKS!!
