About Carol Fitzmorris

Began building home in 2007. Do not have landscaping yet but mountain views are beautiful. We live in the upstairs but have our own kitchen, laundry, etc. Horses are on the property (40acres) and in the winter, cows, too.

Jim manages the ranch and Carol manages the vacation rental.

Carol Fitzmorris purchased this house in 2007

Why Carol Fitzmorris chose Norwood

We are located 35 miles from Telluride and 2 hours from Moab,Utah. The surrounding area is beautiful and varied and remote. World class elk hunting, deer, bear and mountain lion attract hunters from the entire country. All mountain sports and fishing available. The small town of Norwood is charming and local ranchers are good neighbours.

What makes this house unique

We chose to retire here because of the beautiful area, the local people and the remoteness. We built our own home so we could have the vacation rental or B&B as a retirement project and share God' s grace with others.

Beautiful View

  • 5 of 5

Would stay here again. Jim and Carol were very friendly and inviting and the view was AMAZING.

We had a large group and stayed on the lower floor and the upper loft. We felt like we had our own space didn't interfere with others in the home.

Beautiful, comfortable place with AMAZING hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED our stay here! There was plenty of room for 6 adults and 8 kids(we also used the loft upstairs). Very spacious rooms and bathrooms. Kitchen was nicely stocked and our meals were easily made. Carol and Jim were amazing hosts...most of the kids spent time with Carol! They have a couple of cats and a dog which entertained the kids all day long...even some horses to be amazed with... AMAZING VIEWS!! I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a great peaceful getaway! This home is out in the wilderness...but that is what we were looking for...and they have WIFI!!! Great were crying when leaving this home!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the lovely review. I too, was sad when you left. I enjoyed your visit very much. Hard to believe 8 children could be so well behaved and all adorable. They were so easy to love. The food you shared was wonderful as were the conversations. I loved your tradition of all going on vacation together each year and visiting a new state. Hope your trip home was good.

Beautiful, comfortable home with incredible hosts

  • 5 of 5

First of all, the house far exceeded my group's expectations. There was more than enough space for over 10 people and everyone was quite comfortable. The homeowners (Jim and Carol) were communicative, welcoming, warm and all-together the best aspect of this rental. We will definitely reach out to stay at this house whenever in the area.

Nice stay

  • 3 of 5

Stayed in the downstairs part of the home in Norwood. The king beds were very comfortable, as was the day bed in the living room for the kids. Would have been nice if the place were more prepared for our arrival, such as the refrigerator being plugged in and the house aired out. Upon our arrival it smelled musty, like no one had been down there in quite a while. Kitchen was well stocked and we cooked a couple of meals there easily.

Norwood is a fairly long drive from Telluride and Ouray. However, it's very close to the San Miguel river, which is a great place for fishing. Depends on what you want to do and how much time you are willing to spend driving.

What I didn't like was that we could hear the owners upstairs, especially at night. One of the bedrooms was directly under the owners' bedroom and we could hear every footstep and talking. Not sure I liked staying in the same home as the owner, I think next time I'll look for a place where we are the only ones there.

Owner's Response: Christine, I am sorry your stay was less than you expected. This is my first negative review and I am not sure how to respond. I try to enable families access to a truly beautiful area at a price lower than the local motels in a more accommodating space. I feel God has blessed me and I want to pass this on to others. I do try very hard to do my best . Carol

Beautiful San Juan mountains lend themselves to all mountain activities. Elk hunting is a big draw to this area as well as snow skiing in nearby Telluride. We are in an uncrowded area with breath taking beauty and full of adventure activities.
