Fantastic Lakefront Cottage
This cabin was both rustic and chic! We loved the time spent on Blue Mountain Lake. Recommend an additional fan for those super hot nights or when you decide to cook indoors. We enjoyed campfires, swimming, boating, and hiking! We will be back! Thank you for sharing this home with our family, it made our trip very special!
Cozy Mountain Camp
My husband and I had a great time at the camp. We had a very chilly week so it was fun building fires in the wood stove and cooking in the great kitchen. We were happy to see how well stocked it was with measuring cups, various knives, cutting boards, pots, pans, etc. Really everything you need to cook great meals which we did each night. We loved going down to the dock and got out on the canoe a couple times. We enjoyed seeing the "90 Miler" Canoe race folks paddle by the dock and the sea plane going out. Visited nearby Inlet and Old Forge. Great hiking trails all nearby. Buttermilk falls was beautiful and great for those hikers like us who like a one minute "hike" to get to the end. Revolution Rail biking was awesome and a must do. The rustic furniture festival was happening in town which was quite a treat. Lots of turkeys with babies, loons and a friendly duck who seemed to like the dock quite a bit. The house is truly a combination of rustic but extremely comfortable. Small extras like dish towels, a bathmat, hand soap, tp, lots of extra blankets and comforters were really appreciated. This is not a bare bones type of cabin at all. This is a home with tons of amenities. Thanks for a great time, we hope to come back!
It was an amazing week on BML!!
We spent a wonderful family vacation at BML, thank you to the Reilly's for sharing their beautiful camp with us. The sun was out everyday for kayaking/boating, swimming and sunbathing. We hiked Castle Rock, got donuts at the Raquette Lake General Store, visited the Adirondack Museum and jumped of the rocks on Rock Island. We could not have asked for a better location to spend a much needed and very much enjoyed family vacation. Thank you!!
Great place for a real ADK getaway.
There were three of us and found it very roomy. We loved the private dock. Having a canoe, kayak, and row boat available to us was very nice as well. The fireplace took the chill out of a few cool mornings. The bathroom was clean and up-to-date with plenty of hot water. The kitchen was well equipped. The enclosed porch overlooks the lake and we enjoyed the view. The owner was very accommodative and friendly.
Sitting on the dock was so peaceful, the loons were very talkative and we loved it! Blue mountain lake has always been one of our favorites, not as busy as some of the lakes. Had a wonderful time and thankful for the great weather we had all week!
Best lake for swimming
We just returned from our second great stay at the Blue Mountain Lake camp. The house is cozy and well equipped; the shower is particularly excellent (hot water and great pressure!) We enjoyed cafes in North Creek, abundant hiking options and wildlife, including many loons, a snapping turtle and a black bear (crossing the road in front of us between BML and North Creek)! The most incredible part of BML is the lake itself, which is clean, clear, and the perfect temperature--refreshing without being cold. We explored the lake by canoe, and also rented a small outboard, which we used to explore the length of Blue Mountain, Eagle and Utowana lakes. Jumping off the high rocks on Rock Island was a highlight, but mostly we loved just swimming off the dock. All in all, a really special place. I hope we can return!
Thank you so much for your kind words! Blue Mountain Lake is a special place and deserves it's reputation as "the gem of the Adirondacks." You will always be welcome at our camp!
Some pros and cons
In the last 35 years I have stayed at 10 different cottages.
Best equipped kitchen I have ever been in.
The best screened in porch with nice views.
The place looks to be newly painted inside and out.
The bathroom is new and very nice.
Furniture is old and not in good condition. Gives the place a bad first impression.
Floor needs to be refinished.
And the biggest con is the back deck. It is covered with white mold. A deck cleaner would clean that right off.
The place should be listed as a one bedroom cottage. The upper beds you get to with a glorified ladder. Not safe to go up or down.
I would stay again even with the cons. The pros win out.
Thank you for taking the time to review our camp. We take all of our reviews seriously and typically act on suggestions for improvement as evidenced by the new bathroom and fully stocked kitchen. We have already received estimates to have our deck resurfaced and are waiting on contractor availability.
Once again, thank you for staying at our camp on beautiful Blue Mountain Lake.
