Due to its superiority, comfort and detailed attention, am happy to present Mi Playa, the place looks new thanks to a wonderful helpful house keeper who keeps the house and its sorroundings.
Right at the beach Mi Playa is ideal for a small family, small group of friends looking for a beach vacation in a young and remote island of the Galapagos.
You can enjoy and relax an idyllic, self-catering vacation without the hassles of house maintenance or the pressure of a guided tour.
Please make sure you ask us about dates, the calendar is not always updated, besides there are two houses not only one.
The archipelago has two seasons; the hot-rainy season between december and may. Strong short tropical showers normally during the night, eventually during the day too. Normally after the rain the sun comes out strong again. February, March and April are the hottest moths of the year. The 'Garua' season between june and november are commonly overcast, sometimes islands are covered in a fine mist specially during the early hours of the day, the mist eventually clears up and then sun shines out which can last for days and sometimes weeks. Coolest months of the year will be september, october.
Conditions of the sea will fallow the same pattern of the seasons, during the hot months of the year the winds cease and we have very calm ocean conditions perfect for
traveling between islands. From june to october ocean can be a bit rough making it more difficult to travel between islands.
Touristic activity never stops really and travelers take the choppy waters as adventure, normally having a lot of tales to tell...
The house is right in a small fishing village, very quite all the time. If you want to go out there are a couple of bars around and a salsa place. You can access all places just by walking.
There is no traffic on this town, most people moves around on bikes and also walking. There are cars (normally trucks) that can be used as taxis.
HOW TO GET HERE
Guest first have to make it to Guayaquil City, from there there are up to 5 daily flights that bring people to Galapagos. Baltra Island is where the main airport of the islands work, from here you could take an internal short flight (30 minutes) to get to Isabela. Round trip ticket is around $ 250.00 per person.
Flights need to be arranged and reserved with time, they are almost always full, specially in high season which is between November and August.
You could also come by speed boat, available daily from Santa Cruz Island at $ 60.00 round trip.
I personally take care of reservations, inquiries and information needed to make things clear until guests are 100% sure of what they want to do. Once on the island, the house keeper welcomes guest either at airport or pier. He takes them to the house and gives them a tour to show the town around.
If required I am available to guide local tours in Isabela, I am certified naturalist guide with vast experience on the islands.
Born in Cuenca, in a city in the ecuadorian andes known as the cultural capital of the country. I have gained experience with american culture first in California and then in New York City where I lived for a few years.
Introduced to the Islands by the people of the Charles Darwin Research Station as a graphic designer back in 1998, one of my duties was to translate research and put it on easy words so the people of the community will understand the fragility of the island ecosystems. In 2005 I became a Certified Naturalist Guide and since then have been working actively as one for various prestigious companies that tour the islands on a weekly basis.
Today together with my partner I attend the guests at Mi Playa, making sure they have a wonderful stay on this precious archipelago. I want to concentrate on exclusivity for small groups to make sure the quality of their visit is never compromised.
Galapagos needs to be paid attention to be fully understood... and that you can ONLY do with small groups of people!
Ximena purchased this townhome in 2015
Isabela was the only island of the archipelago in which I could buy ocean fronted property. My dream was to build a beach front home in which I could spend my free time looking at the ocean. I grew up going to the ocean and as an adult I just could not get away from it.
Galapagos is a young archipelago that gives us the chance to see the very early processes of life taking place, no where but here we understand how life has taken place in the whole planet... I felt the urge to share this with people that could enjoy and understand this privilege.
Our stay was absolutely perfect. The beach house is located in a great location. Easy to walk to restaurants in the evening and obviously right on the beach. Edgar was super helpful. He showed us where to buy groceries, helped us rent bikes, and recommended tours for us. As per another guest's suggestion we had lots of cash with us as credit cards are not widely accepted (and where they are accepted, there is a high fee to use - 14% at one restaurant). The beach house itself is exactly as it is shown in the pictures.
I can't imagine I'll ever be on Isabela Island again - but if I am, Ximena's will be first on my list. If you stay here you won't be disappointed.
my family of 5 stayed 4 nights here in July and really enjoyed our stay. Excellent location right on the beach right in town so walking anywhere is super easy. Edgar was awesome in being around at any time when issues came up and met us in the afternoon at the ferry dock and took us at 5:30 am to get on the ferry to santa cruz. He also delivered an extra bed for our 3rd child. He also took us around town to show us where to buy food etc..Brush up on your spanish however!
Also bring plenty of cash - nobody told us their are NO atm's on the island and only a few restaurants take credit cards and things, especially eating out are very expensive. You will be best off shopping and cooking at the unit which is well supplied with all kinds of cooking utensils.
The duplex is updated and clean with good beds and the upstairs provides great views and is very relaxing to fall asleep to the sound of waves. Decent, sometimes spotty wifi available at all times. The beach is of course public , so be prepared to have people walking right in front of the awesome downstairs deck and stopping to check out the place. Also the images on the site are for the right hand unit looking at the duplex from the beach - be sure to request that unit as it has a couch and table to relax on - the left side duplex just has uncomfortable benches to sit on. Also there is a new building going up next door on the left side so depending on when you go, construction might still be going on which effects the left unit looking from the beach. Be prepared to really enjoy your stay!!
You will not find a better place to call home whilst on Isabela. My 16 year old daughter, husband and i spend 7 nights and were sad to leave.
Pristine beach, falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves. Queit but only minutes from restaurants and grocery stores.
The house is beautiful with everthing you need. Beds super comfortable and the washrooms have great showers.
And if it couldent get any better, Edgar will be at the dock and bring you to the house and ensure you are settled in the home.
Edgar took us around the town to show us where to buy different groceries and also where to eat.
He also ensured we had gorgeous pineapple, coconuts, papaya, fish and fresh eggs when we could not find at the grocery store.
He pops over each day to ensure you have no issues or needs.
Edgar took us to rent great bikes, and then accompied us to see the wall of tears and find the best espresso afterwards. Edgar will help as much or as little as required, never interferes but so lovely to have the travel angel should you need.
We will definetly come back again, having travelled so much of the world, i can easier say this was one of the best family holidays we have had.
This property it is worth the trek to get there.
My family (2 adults and 2 kids age 11 and 9) and another adult had a wonderful experience at Isla Isabela and Mi Playa. The place was simple but everything you need and very clean. Our host was friendly and helpful (he walked us to the best restaurant and tour operators). The best part about our trip was waking up to the sounds and sights of the ocean including amazing birds and sea lions right from our window. I have to note that this place does not have air conditioning. I'm not sure how I overlooked it because I always pick tropical locations with air conditioning. However, we didn't miss it at all (and I am very picky about temperature). With the screened windows keeping things breezy, we were very comfortable.
A welcoming paradise with the most amazing view and beach. Ximena, our host was helpful in helping us plan (weeks before) our transportation between the islands. Isabella and Villamil is more remote and a pleasant escape from the somewhat congested Puerto Ayora. We were greeted with Pelicans, Penguins and Flamingos every morning as we looked out from our balconies towards the ocean. Key to our experience was Edgar who was extremely helpful in showing us around the town and helping us to decide how to schedule our stay. He met us at the ferry once we arrived on Isabella, I honestly cannot say enough about Edgar and Ximena they both exceeded all of our expectations, what a treat to stay with them and hope to return.
We still indulge in memories and happiness of our stay at this amazing place. We have 3 children with big age difference, 2, 7, 13 years old, while all of them can find exciting activities on the island. Ximena, the owner, responsed our need in one second even she was on board. Edgar took care of the property and showed us around which make our stay so unforgettable! the location is the best! Ocean is under your feet, the town center is on your shoulder, everything is close by but you own the whole beach. Almost everyday we have the opportunity to meet the wild friends, swimming with sea lions, chasing sea lizards, observing the blue feet boobies hunting.......We highly recommend this gorgeous home to spend with your families!
