About the property

Plantation-Style Estate - 3 Bedroom, 2.5 Bathroom

The Mother Ocean or Ke Moana Makuahine (in Hawaiian Language)™ is a 2-acre Monkey Pod and Palm Tree-Laden Park with a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath Main Residence. This beautiful, secure and secluded beachfront estate adjoins 270 feet of a private, child-safe, and riptide-free sandy beach. The comfortable back lanai enjoys spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and the island of Lanai. Enjoy a glass of champagne as you sit and watch the sunset or marvel at the thrilling views of breaching humpback whales all day long in the Kalohi Channel between Lanai and Molokai Islands during the winter months. For diving and snorkeling enthusiasts, Hawaii's longest fringing coral reef (30 miles long) lies just over 600 feet from our beach. There you can see all of the sea life living in and surrounding the reef, including Hawaiian green sea turtles. Our private setting also includes your own natural pool with soothing waterfall.

I loved my stay - a house with a heart

  • 5 of 5

The mother ocean is a place on heaven. The house itself is just perfect, with character, heart and a owner that loves it’s peace on heaven.

Thank you very much for sheering this wonder with us. We also took care as if it were our own beloved house!

The only thing that I missed was the gentle cycle to wash my clothes.

Great house. Very comfortable and well equipped. Great location and views.

We had a great stay on Molokai. We were very active, trying to squeeze in as much as we could and a 10 day stay. It was great coming home to a house with a pool. We rented a kayak so that we could explore right from the back of the house. Overall a A very relaxing and fun filled stay.

Best place to stay on Molokai!!

  • 5 of 5

The Mother Ocean was exactly what we needed! We had just got married on Kona and wanted a place to relax and enjoy the quiet of Molokai. The place is amazing and was clean and well stocked when we arrived! We loved the layout and decor. The home is very private and you forget you're near the main road. We loved the chairs by the ocean, the hammock on the back porch and laying in the sun near the pool. The bed was comfy and the tub in the master was a great place to relax. Walking on the beach was great...we rarely saw anyone. Due to the winds, we didn't get out on the ocean in kayaks or SUP's.

Julie was fantastic to work with and was quick to reply and helpful. She gave us great information prior to our arrival.

If we had to make any would be to purchase a propane BBQ for the would've been nice to have one to use. The charcoal BBQ was not an option. And only one other thing...we completely understand that landscapers and pool cleaners will access the property, it would just be nice to have a schedule of when to expect them. This is not a huge deal...just a suggestion.

We will definitely stay here again if we go back to Molokai! If you're going to Molokai, this is the place to stay and worth the money!!

Owner's Response: With a private pool, a lush garden, and two acres of lawn, this property requires consistent maintenance. Our regular onsite team prides themselves on being inconspicuous and considerate of our guests' privacy. During this stay, our team had an off-island emergency and we required the services of a substitute team whose schedule was less predictable.

The lush landscape well maintained. The pool cleaned each day. The home was very clean on arrival.

Our experience at The Mother Ocean is best described as magical! The plantation style home so inviting. The beds were so comfy. It was a joy to wake up to the sound of the ocean and enjoy our coffee on the veranda. Many happy hours were spent poolside. We enjoyed the gorgeous landscaping and the water feature. There were plenty of bath and beach towels. The showers were great. One of our favorite spots were the two Adirondack chairs with the ocean view. Watching the sunset over the ocean from the backyard and star gazing were also favorite activities! The Mother Ocean was in a great location. Close to the stores, activities and beaches. Our family enjoyed an amazing vacation and we can't wait to go back!!!

The house is wonderful

  • 5 of 5

The house was amazing and the owner was a dream to work with. She gave great information about how to enjoy Molokai. We are Alaskans and Molokai is much like rural Alaska, limited cell phone coverage, no traffic, zero big chain stores or fast food places. If you want a waiter to bring you a drink poolside, then go shop in a boutique and finish off the night at a big hotel Luau, Molokai is not your place. If you want to chill out, hike, dive, kayak, read a book, play a card game on the Lanai then this is more your speed. The house has every luxury and is a calm, relaxing place with modern comforts while having an "Old Hawaiian" vibe. If you are looking to wind down and get away (which we were), it is awesome.

Great house to relax and whale watch!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful old Hawaii home with all the updates you will ever need, and more!

Beautiful yard and property right on the water, watch the whales, enjoy the grass, and play croquett or fly a kite.

The sofa on the back porch is perfect for a good nap or reading a book.

Only a short drive to the small downtown area, make sure you visit the farmers market on Saturday, lots of great veggies, fruit, crafts and art.

Molokai is a true gem and NOT to be missed!!!
