We booked in October last year for rally week. We typically rent oceanfront homes and the price here was higher than we've ever paid for a week but it was rally week so we figured everything would be higher. We expected more from the condo. The dryer didn't work -- took all day to dry towels, the beds were hard and extremely uncomfortable, the sheets were worn and faded, there was nowhere to put clothes except for the closets, the toilet stuck when flushed, the cooking utensils were lacking and the skillets were old and cheap, the drain plug in the kitchen sink was broken, it took forever to get hot water, there was a smell every time you walked in despite the air freshener a we brought with us, parking was horrible (but the resort manager was very helpful). We didn't use the pool as we were in a separate building and had to walk to it which was a little hike. The view was spectacular and the people were friendly. Other than that, if you're planning a weekend trip this place might suit your needs so long as the price is reasonable when booked outside of rally week. We had 4 adults in our group and the unit did not quite suit our needs and definitely did not meet our expectations.
We stayed in late June with 5 adults and 2 children under 10 years old. We were very comfortable in the condo and we didn't find ourselves lacking any amenities. We enjoyed the hot tub located at the condo (shared amongst all condos) and also the indoor pool and hot tub at the Barefoot Resort building up the road (not really within walking distance). The washer and dryer in the unit was very handy.
The outside storm door (clear glass one) needs fixing or replacing and we noted that to the Barefoot Resort management and on our paper review of the place. The water in the two bathrooms took a long time to get hot. The garbage can inside the kitchen could have been larger. We had to take out garbage to the dumpster once or twice a day. Also there could have been more laundry soap and dryer sheets left for us. The Dryer took a long time to dry average size loads. We usually had to run the longest cycle twice.
We enjoyed our stay and will consider booking here for future Black Hills vacations.
Place was as discribed. Clean with lots of room.
Coffee pot didn't work. Luckily we could borrow one from the office.
Awesome view. If you are going to go to the hills on vacation with a moderate budget this is a great place to stay not right in the middle of the hustle and bustle tucked away in the hills above the ski lodge. Our stay was in June so the tourist season had not really kicked off yet I can imagine it gets busier especially during the Rally but great place to stay with great service. Would have been 5 star but the mine across the road running 24 hours a day kind of ruined the view and tranquility of the hills
This was a great stay! Everyone was very nice! Manager answers very quickly. The place was clean and supplied almost everything a house would have. Felt like a home. Close to town. Beautiful views. Will definitely come back to stay here!
This was a great place to stay to have some more room than a usual hotel room. full kitchen, washer and dryer...make traveling so much easier. Location to ski area is ideal and some good places to eat in Lead. The unit was very clean and well maintained. I would recommend this property to friends/relatives.
