About the property

2 Bedroom Plus Large Loft, Sleeps 12 W/ Easy Mt Ski Access

The Mt Rainier Log Cabin was built in 1975 by the Jackson family. It features hand-hewn logs, constructed by local craftsmen with many hand-crafted features.

The cabin is part of the Timberline community with guest access (Memorial Day - Labor Day) to two swimming pools, tennis courts and play fields. In the summer it is only 10 minutes to the East entrance of Mt Rainier National Park, Stephen's Canyon Entrance and in the winter it is only 15 minutes up to the White Pass Ski area.

The cabin (downstairs) features the original log cabin living room, full kitchen, dining table, laundry room (with additional toilet) and master bedroom with bathroom (toilet, shower & sink).

An addition was built in the 1990's which expanded the downstairs to include an additional rec room with board games, cards and a 32' TV & over 200 movies to choose from. This room also features a free-standing wood fireplace.

The upstairs features another bedroom (this bedroom is open to the staircase) and full private bathroom (toilet, sink & bathtub/shower). Upstairs there is also a large loft with an additional queen bed and 6 twin beds.

This is an excellent cabin for two families who want to come up with their kids.

The exterior of the cabin lights up each night with Christmas lights year round. Two decks and a firepit make great star gazing & smores roasting memories.

About Mara Williams

We are a local family who have lived in the Pacific Northwest our whole lives.

My grandparents built the cabin next door to this log cabin in 1973 and were neighbors for over 30 years. We grew up hunting, fishing and playing with the neighbors and felt we were a part of each other's family.

In 2003, my husband I & purchased the log cabin with their blessing to continue the tradition of family time at the cabin and we have had many wonderful times with our own two kids, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents & friends.

Mara Williams purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Mara Williams chose Packwood

Because our family cabin was next door, it was the perfect fit when we bought the log cabin for our own family. My grandparents established many cabin traditions - from hot chili on the stove when we came down from a day of skiing to hours of playing cards by the fire. Whether we were skiing at White Pass or swimming at the pool all summer, it was all about family & memories.

When we bought the cabin 15 years ago our two boys were in preschool and kindergarten and over the years we have spent more quality family time than can be expressed. Now that they are teenagers, we find ourselves staying home on weekends for sports and activities and want to share our special cabin with other families.

What makes this cabin unique

One of the great things about the log cabin is that it is set up for families. There are plenty of beds and a full kitchen to prepare home cooked meals.

The log cabin itself is really the most unique benefit of this cabin. Just being inside reminds you of a time that is a slower pace. We have kept not only the original log cabin in tact, but done several upgrades to the stairs (for stability & charm) and the bathrooms. We also added WIFI for your convenience.

Guestbook comments from the owner

P.S. We had fun!

Cozy cabin In the woods.

  • 4 of 5

The owners were great to work with! The cabin is a little awkward in set up so you’ll want to be close to the people you’re traveling with (I.e. bathroom upstairs doesn’t close all the way). An inconvenience was needing to take the trash with you when checking out. Loved the wood fireplace, especially after a day of skiing.

Gorgeous and well stocked home!!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for such a wonderful vocation! We really appreciated how open, clean, stocked, and well kept your cabin is. It slept our 2 family group perfectly. It even snowed enough for snowmen and sleds

Wonderful Cabin for Large Family Groups who love hiking in Mt. Rainer Nstional Park

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cabin where four adults and six children had plenty of room. The kids loved the games provided and the adults loved the proximity to the Paradise area of Mt Rainer.

A lovely and comfortable family cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It was comfortable, quiet, clean and well equipped. The owners seemed to think of all the little details to make our stay as pleasant as possible and were very helpful and friendly when I needed to contact them. We will definitely come back to this cabin whenever we are in the area again and recommend it to our family and friends. We had so much fun here together!

This cabin was perfect for our group of 7. The rooms were comfortable and had everything we needed. Everything was thoughtfully prepared (from logs in the fire pit to ingredients for s'mores). The community pool was a highlight - a great way to cool off after a day of hiking. We would definitely stay here again!
