About the property

2 Bedroom Plus Large Loft, Sleeps 12 W/ Easy Mt Ski Access

The Mt Rainier Log Cabin was built in 1975 by the Jackson family. It features hand-hewn logs, constructed by local craftsmen with many hand-crafted features.

The cabin is part of the Timberline community with guest access (Memorial Day - Labor Day) to two swimming pools, tennis courts and play fields. In the summer it is only 10 minutes to the East entrance of Mt Rainier National Park, Stephen's Canyon Entrance and in the winter it is only 15 minutes up to the White Pass Ski area.

The cabin (downstairs) features the original living room with slate fireplace, full kitchen, laundry room (with additional toilet) and master bedroom with bathroom (toilet, shower & sink).

An addition was built in the 1990's which expanded the downstairs to include an additional rec room with board games, cards and a 32' TV & over 200 movies to choose from. This room also features a free-standing wood fireplace.

The upstairs features another bedroom (this bedroom is open to the staircase) and full private bathroom (toilet, sink & bathtub/shower). Upstairs there is also a large loft with an additional queen bed and 6 twin beds.

This is an excellent cabin for two families who want to come up with their kids.

The exterior of the cabin lights up each night with Christmas lights year round. Two decks and a firepit make great star gazing & smores roasting memories.

About Mara Williams

We are a local family who have lived in the Pacific Northwest our whole lives.

My grandparents built the cabin next door to this log cabin in 1973 and were neighbors for over 30 years. We grew up hunting, fishing and playing with the neighbors and felt we were a part of each other's family.

In 2003, my husband I & purchased the log cabin with their blessing to continue the tradition of family time at the cabin and we have had many wonderful times with our own two kids, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents & friends.

Mara Williams purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Mara Williams chose Mount Rainier

Because our family cabin was next door, it was the perfect fit when we bought the log cabin for our own family. My grandparents established many cabin traditions - from hot chili on the stove when we came down from a day of skiing to hours of playing cards by the fire. Whether we were skiing at White Pass or swimming at the pool all summer, it was all about family & memories.

When we bought the cabin 10 years ago our two boys were in preschool and kindergarten and over the years we have spent more quality family time than can be expressed. Now that they are teenagers, we find ourselves staying home on weekends for sports and activities and want to share our special cabin with other families.

What makes this cabin unique

One of the great things about the log cabin is that it is set up for families. There are plenty of beds and a full kitchen to prepare home cooked meals.

The log cabin itself is really the most unique benefit of this cabin. Just being inside reminds you of a time that is a slower pace. We have kept not only the original log cabin in tact, but done several upgrades to the stairs (for stability & charm) and the bathrooms.

Our stay at this cabin was really nice. It had everything that we needed and lot of space for group of 12 people. Mara is very nice and updated us regarding road conditions. Will definitely recommend this place for nice stay in the woods.

Great Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

5 stars! Even though with weather conditions being rough Mara texted us what roads were closed and kept us up to date. She Rocks!!!

Cabin was very roomie, warm, and clean. Very easy to get there and close to White Pass where we snowboarded.

I would recommend this cabin to anyone going up to white pass as it was only a 20 minute drive there!

This place is amazing! We can't wait to come back!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about this cabin! "Can we stay longer?" And "we can't wait to come back," is all we heard this weekend. We arrived at night and had no problems finding it, the directions were spot on. When we pulled up it looked so inviting with the Christmas lights on outside and the few lights on in the windows inside we couldn't wait to get inside. When we went into the cabin all anyone could say was WOW! We were awestruck at all the amenities this place has to offer! The decor was really cool and there was no clutter. Everything was very clean. There was plenty of room for all of our stuff and then some. We never felt crowded. Our kids absolutely loved the loft room. Having 3 toilets and 2 showers to use was definitely a bonus (there were 10 of us). I loved the kitchen it had everything we needed and more! Being so close to town and the ski lifts was wonderful. It is really comfortable we felt like we were at home! I would recommend this cabin to everyone I know. We are definitely planning on staying here again in the future. My family and I would give the Mt. Rainier log cabin 5 stars and two thumbs up! Thank you so much Mara and Brad Williams for making our stay so memorable!

Great location and lots of space

  • 5 of 5

This packwood cabin is great because there is so much communal space. It is perfect for a few families to get together with kids. It's also a true log cabin so that makes it fun. The proximity to the mountain is also a huge perk. One of our favorite packwood rentals!
