About the property

2 Bedroom Plus Large Loft, Sleeps 12 W/ Easy Mt Rainier & White Pass Ski Access

The Mt Rainier Log Cabin was built in 1975 by the Jackson family. It features hand-hewn logs, constructed by local craftsmen with many hand-crafted features.

In the summer it is only 10 minutes to the East entrance of Mt Rainier National Park, Stephen's Canyon Entrance and in the winter it is only 15 minutes up to the White Pass Ski area.

The cabin (downstairs) features the original log cabin living room, full kitchen, dining table, laundry room (with additional toilet) and master bedroom with bathroom (toilet, shower & sink).

An addition was built in the 1990's which expanded the downstairs to include an additional rec room with board games, cards and a 32' TV & over 200 movies to choose from. This room also features a free-standing wood fireplace.

The upstairs features another bedroom (this bedroom is open to the staircase) and full private bathroom (toilet, sink & bathtub/shower). Upstairs there is also a large loft with an additional queen bed and 6 twin beds.

This is an excellent cabin for two families who want to come up with their kids.

The exterior of the cabin lights up each night with Christmas lights year round. Two decks and a firepit make great star gazing & smores roasting memories.

About Mara Williams

We are a local family who have lived in the Pacific Northwest our whole lives.

My grandparents built the cabin next door to this log cabin in 1973 and were neighbors for over 30 years. We grew up hunting, fishing and playing with the neighbors and felt we were a part of each other's family.

In 2003, my husband I & purchased the log cabin with their blessing to continue the tradition of family time at the cabin and we have had many wonderful times with our own two kids, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents & friends.

Mara Williams purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Mara Williams chose Packwood

Because our family cabin was next door, it was the perfect fit when we bought the log cabin for our own family. My grandparents established many cabin traditions - from hot chili on the stove when we came down from a day of skiing to hours of playing cards by the fire. Whether we were skiing at White Pass or swimming at the pool all summer, it was all about family & memories.

When we bought the cabin 15 years ago our two boys were in preschool and kindergarten and over the years we have spent more quality family time than can be expressed. Now that they are teenagers, we find ourselves staying home on weekends for sports and activities and want to share our special cabin with other families.

What makes this cabin unique

One of the great things about the log cabin is that it is set up for families. There are plenty of beds and a full kitchen to prepare home cooked meals.

The log cabin itself is really the most unique benefit of this cabin. Just being inside reminds you of a time that is a slower pace. We have kept not only the original log cabin in tact, but done several upgrades to the stairs (for stability & charm) and the bathrooms. We also added WIFI for your convenience.

Fabulous stay

  • 5 of 5

Everything was so wonderful. Highly recommend this cabin. The cabin is smaller than our home that we live in, but seemed more spacious with the layout. The decor and ambiance were absolutely charming.

Perfect cabin for a large family getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

Pictures truly don’t give this cabin justice! It was beautiful and had plenty of space for our family. From the moment you walk in, you just feel right at home. It was clean and well stocked with everything you would need. The owners were also easy to work with quick to respond to any questions. We hope to make this an annual destination for future ski trips. You will not be disappointed in this great property!

Loved having access to cleaning supplies so we could clean up our messes as we went. Owners were always accessible, and quick to handle any issues that came up. Would definitely stay here again
