Blue Moon is a stunning 4,200+ sq. foot, 6 bedroom, 4 full bath and 2 half bath lodge with over 4,000 sq. feet of covered porch located in the beautiful Hidden Valley community. It sleeps 26 in beds. With 5 of the bedrooms having king size beds, full dressers and large closets, it's perfect for large groups or multiple families to share and still have plenty of private space. The 'Eagles Nest' is the perfect space for all the kids. Two queen over queen bunk beds, two twin over twin bunk beds a half bath and a TV with DVD player will have them fighting over who gets to stay up there! We have recently installed separate A/C units for each level, so you can now control the temperature of each level independently.

The main level has a gourmet kitchen equipped with everything you'll need to cook that award winning meal for the entire group. The open kitchen/living room lets the cook be part of all the activity even while preparing their masterpiece! If grilling is your specialty, you'll love to be on cooking duty with our 6 burner propane grill (propane provided). With indoor seating for 16 and multiple outdoor tables, there's plenty of room for everyone to eat at the same time.

Head down to the lower level and let the fun begin! The game room is equipped with a pool table, ping pong, darts and foosball. The main gathering space has 3 full size couches, a kitchenette with full size refrigerator, stove, microwave and corner bar. There are plenty of board games, card games and movies to entertain for hours.

Looking for that special mountain wedding? We have partnered with our friends at Hidden Valley Farm to help make that happen. The farm is located at the entrance of our division and provides a beautiful backdrop for your special day.

The location of this lodge allows you to enjoy the tranquility of the smoky mountains while still being close to Asheville, Waynesville and Maggie Valley. We are surrounded by a multitude of mountain activities such as hiking, zip lines, white water rafting, tubing, fishing, waterfalls, skiing, and elk viewing. The amazing Biltmore Mansion is only 35 miles away. Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Ocanaluftee Indian Village are within a scenic hour drive. You can also enjoy the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg, TN which can be reached in 1 1/2 hours.

Please note, this is our Christian family's home. We are very dedicated to keeping this lodge extremely well equipped and will continue to improve the amenities so that you will want to come back year after year. However, in order to do this, we need quality and like minded renters. If you are looking for a great home away from home, we'd love to share ours with you! If you're looking for a place to drink excessively, play loud music, let the kids run wild, or have a crazy uncle Bob that likes to shoot guns off the porch, please go ahead and mark this rental off your search!!

We are located in a quiet mountain community with many local residence. We STRICTLY enforce outside quiet hours of 10:00 pm to 7:00 am. Violation of this noise ordinance will result in loss of refundable damage deposit and immediate termination of your stay.

(Due to potential snow in the winter months, trip insurance and/or 4 wheel drive is highly recommended for winter rentals)

About Ryan Pownall

Julie and I love coming to the mountains with our four children, Noah, Christian, Anna and Ashlyn (pictured at nearby Waterrock Knob). We've been married for 17 years and plan on retiring at Blue Moon!

Ryan Pownall purchased this lodge in 2013

Why Ryan Pownall chose Smoky Mountains

We fell in love with this lodge because of the large rooms and huge covered decks. It will allow our entire family to get together even after the kids grow and start families of their own. It's away from it all, but close to everything!! The stress of everyday life just melted away the minute we stepped onto the porch!

What makes this lodge unique

The large size of all of the bedrooms is something that we couldn't find anywhere else. That combined with the 4,000 sf of covered porch made this lodge unforgettable!

The Blue Moon is just as advertised.

  • 5 of 5

Our crew consisted of 10 adults and 9 kids ranging from 6 to 15 years old. The Lodge provided an excellent setting for mingling and running. Absolutely perfect setting for a family gathering.

The ride in from I-40 was a wonderful example of NC mountain farmland and high end rural living.

The Lodge was spotless when we arrived and everything worked. The interior is appointed very nicely and the appliances were very modern and spacious. -2- refrigerators and a beverage fridge for overflow. There was an abundance of towels and kitchen was well stocked for eating and food prep needs. Three coffee makers at the ready.

Kids would've voted hot tub as their favorite spot, testing the towel abundance statement but there was a washer/dryer available to keep clothes and towels fresh.

Adults favored the spacious porch and rocking chairs. My sons in law and I are grill nuts so the virtually new grill was used regularly and there were spare propane tanks available if needed.

Bedrooms are large and private. Hard to get people up in the morning. Put all kids upstairs in the Eagle's Nest.Worked just fine.

Following offered as helpful commentary not criticism:

Drive slowly and carefully up the mountain. It is a narrow road and meeting another vehicle is a daunting experience.

The last 600 feet or so, Blue Moon Lane, is gravel/dirt. Go slow and hold on.

Plan your parking strategically. We had -6- vehicles (It's America) and it seemed that the one we needed was always blocked in.

The couple who are available to help are very friendly and helpful.

Groceries are thirty minutes away so carry everything in that you can.

Bring plenty of ice. Refrigerators have ice makers but you will need more.

There is a noise ordinance. We were admonished a couple of times for excess. Kids in hot tub and yours truly blowing the bugle for dinner.

In summary, great location for a family gathering or business conference. The three day visit met or exceeded all our expectations.

Great place to accommodate large groups with beautiful views!!

  • 5 of 5

This lodge is absolutely beautiful and has everything you need to accommodate your large groups. We recently stayed here with group of 23 ranging from little kids to elder adults, the lodge is really spread out and allows enough privacy for your entire group. The views are beautiful from your balcony! We did have to drive distances each day to do things but that didn't bother us too much, drive to most places within an hour. The roads are curvy and little rough in some spots, but van and suvs did ok. If I had to say anything less enjoyable about this place, is that it is located in a residential neighborhood with houses basically in your front yard. Quiet time starts at 10pm and you will be reported by neighbors if loud after that. I do see the neighbors standpoint of quiet time, but as a vacationer after running all day to activities and by the time you take your long drive back to this lodge and get dinner made and cleaned up for 23 people it only left us few hours to play yard games before we had to then sit quietly. We did get a complaint against us for playing cornhole in the evening, one neighbor reported it was too loud, this is the neighbor who lives basically in your front yard. It is difficult to be quiet with such a large group unless you sit inside after 10pm. I do have to say that Sarah, is the house host and she lives few houses up the road, she is amazing, very friendly, called or checked in with us several times to see if we needed anything. The owner Ryan was also very friendly and quick to answer your responses. I would definitely book this place again due to the set up of house but would reconsider due to the location of being in residential neighborhood. Thanks Ryan and House host Sarah for a great stay! We really enjoyed our vacation there!!

Dream Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Sixteen family members comfortably and happily occupied this little slice of paradise last week July 16-23, 2017, and relaxed and played and laughed. The five king size beds were perfect for us and our married children; the 5 tall grandsons (all over six feet) were comfortable in the bunk room. The kitchen is over supplied with utensils and easy to use with plenty of space for however many chefs were cooking. The decks were wonderful places to gather including the hot tub and plenty of rocking chairs. We (the grandparents) were afraid when we first arrived that none of the kids would be able to find the place, but they all arrived with no issues even though the road progressed from 4 lanes to 2, to 1 and then gravel leading to a steepish driveway with no help from us. Wifi is a little slow, but we got used to that too. ATT even sent us a new modem. We enjoyed Looking Glass Falls, Tubing on the French Broad River, Deep Creek Falls in the Smoky Mountains, a wonderful cave in Tennessee, Gatlinburg sky lift. Dinner in Waynesville at the Sweet Onion, and a great half day on Lake Fontana, not to mention dinner at Elvira's. Our hostess was great. We celebrated my husband's 82 birthday and the gathering of most of our children in one comfortable home was such a blessing. Wonderful vacation.

Beautiful setting and great family time

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Blue moon lodge. It is a great home with plenty of room and space. Management was very easy to contact and accessible. Power went out on mountain but generator kicked right in and power was restored within 2 hours!

There were 23 of us which included 7 children and we had plenty of room. The bunk room worked out great for the kids and some of the adults. The beds are very comfortable!! Anyone looking for a great large home for a family reunion in the beautiful North Carolina mountains, this is the place. And the owners were great to work with!! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Abundance of everything

  • 5 of 5

When we were looking for a house to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday, we had a list of wants that we needed the house to have. A great view, 5 rooms with king beds for the 5 couples, a ping pong table, a hot tub, a big dining table to sit all of us together, and a large kitchen space. Well this house fulfilled all our needs and more. There was so much space in this house to give each couple ample privacy, and good size public space for us to be together. There was an abundance of linen / towel supplies, and there was also enough of the paper supplies, that we were suppose to bring. What surprised ladies the most is that the Kitchen had every sort of gadget, appliances, and condiments. We even found candles for the birthday cake. Walking around the neighborhood, this house definitely had the best view

Ryan the owner, replied to emails and phones calls in a timely manner and provided us with alot of information of the Clyde area.

Sarah, the next door neighbor, came and introduced herself, as we checked in, and also answered our calls, and provided us with her own hose to wash down the pollen on the deck.

We will definitely be celebrating another birthday there, soon I hope
