A year prior to this date, a group from our graduate school class decided to spend a vacation together in between semesters. There were thirteen of us, and we had an amazing time, devoid of any grievances. So, when the time came around for a second annual "#TakeTheLake" trip, this home was high on the list of options. When it was put to a vote, majority of the group wanted to return to "Old Faithful," since we would be guaranteed an enjoyable stay, from our past experience.
We had ten attendees (compared to last year's thirteen), and the house accommodated us just as comfortably as before. I wish I could describe the home better than in the review from our first stay (August 2015), but I'm confident I will come up short in articulating the details as well as that review recounts. I will mention what I can, however.
When we first arrived, we were pleased to find out there is a community boat launch just on the other side of the neighborhood. However, the key left for us did not seem to fit the gate lock, after multiple attempts. After getting in touch with Ali, she was able to connect us with the sweetest neighbor who helped us gain entry to launch our boat. This was the only time we had to contact Ali during our entire stay, and the matter was impressively resolved in a matter of minutes.
I feel like there were some updates to the home in the way of technology (maybe, new/larger TVs). It actually rained our first afternoon/evening there, but we were able to keep ourselves plenty entertained inside the home. I do remember watching some of the Olympic games together, which was nice. Again, we brought a couple of stand-up paddleboards which were a huge hit; and, they double as great floating tables to congregate around when not using them athletically. Someone from our group brought their ski boat again, and we had a blast tubing. I feel like the hazardous areas of the lake (riddled with logs/stumps) were better demarcated than the year prior, so we were able to identify safe zones for recreation. Our final night there was spent cozying up downstairs and watching the film "Insomnia," which was perfect.
Overall, our group thoroughly enjoyed our trip, and this home was integral to facilitating such. It was a true pleasure corresponding with Ali. We would recommend this property for groups akin to ours, couples, older groups, and families with children.
Our class just graduated last week, Ali, but perhaps we can use your home for a reunion! :)
I wanted to find a house on the lake to celebrate my 40th birthday... and I lucked out finding Ali's lake house. When we arrived the house was clean and fully stocked with all the essentials including a nice note from the owner. We enjoyed the fire pit at night and the beautiful lake all day. I highly recommend this property and look forward to another stay soon! Hopefully next time we can stay longer...
We had a great time with our five children. Recommendations on activities and restaurants from the owners were excellent. Definitely would stay here again. Nice and relaxing.
My friends and I stayed here during Warrior Dash race weekend. This house is perfect for a weekend getaway. There's so many things to do: sit out on the dock, ride a kayak across the lake, play ping pong, sit by the fire, swing from a tree, relax in a hammock, play board games in the living room. This house has it all! We even were able to play a whiffle ball game in the large front yard. There's plenty of extra towels and blankets as well throughout the house. The room downstairs can get kind of cold, but the house even has a separate space heater for the room. Highly recommend staying here! We will definitely be back!
Our first family trip to Georgia could not have been more pleasant. The directions from the airport in Atlanta guided us in late at night. The home is warm and charming. The kitchen has everything we needed to prepare meals and bake for the entire four days and more. The beds were very comfortable and we had ample space. (6 adults trying to all get ready in one hour found great hot water and water pressure in three showers which does not always happen!)The porch is so relaxing with beautiful views. The home is secluded and we loved listening to the birds. The hospitality shown to us made our stay special. Our family is looking forward to returning again.
We had rented a home from another site and were unexpectedly canceled on two weeks before our arrival date. With our arrival date the Friday after Thanksgiving, we were scrambling to find a location for our family. This house cost a little more but was worth every penny. Ali worked with her cleaning crew to do a quick turnaround so we could checkin. The house feels like a home, is open and spacious, plenty of room to hang out together or sneak away. The fire pit was a great gathering spot. She left the makings for s'mores and a bottle of wine and a handwritten note. Great touches. The surprisingly warm temperatures and the large table on the back porch allowed all 12 of our lunch guests to sit together. What a wonderful time. We want to come back in the summer for a longer stay.
One of the best water views on Lake Oconee nestled in the beautiful Oconee National Forest! Located between Historic Madison, downtown Greensboro and the Ritz Carlton. Restaurants, golf courses, spas and shopping all within a 20 minute drive.
