About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, 4 Sleeps

This home is a charming 1929 historic beach cottage sitting under a canopy of live oaks and Spanish moss. The cottage was restored in 2013 with a high end kitchen and beautiful new bathroom. The restoration retains the original windows, bead board ceilings and walls and pine floors. Enjoy your morning coffee in the rocking chairs on the covered front porch or grill and have a picnic on the back deck.

The cottage has been professionally landscaped and has three beautiful live oaks with uplighting.

We refer to Village Cottage 1 as the Adams Cottage. It is located in the St. Simon's Park Neighborhood on 12th street in the Village. The cottage is 0.1 miles from St. Simon's Lighthouse, Neptune Park ( pool, playground, miniature golf) and the 12th Street Public Beach Access. Along the waterfront and in the Village there are frequent concerts, fireworks, antique shows, art shows and parades throughout the year.

The cottage is 0.2 miles from St. Simons Pier Village (Mallery Street and Ocean Boulevard). Walk to restaurants, shops, the pier and ice cream shops or just sit by the ocean and watch the dolphins and enjoy the sunsets.

The cottage is 1 mile from Massengale Park and the closet East Beach Access. The cottage is 1.5 miles to the Historic Coast Guard Station and additional East Beach Access. There are bike paths that lead from our cottage to both of these recreation areas. It is an easy bike ride.

We contract with Real Escapes management to provide a spotless home and clean linens for every guest check in. As a local St. Simon's business they provide 24 hour emergency service and support.

NOTE: Village Cottage 2 is the guest house for Village Cottage 1. They share a laundry facility in an outbuilding located between the 2 cottages.

Why Ginger Schnell chose Coastal

On a previous visit to St. Simon's Island we discovered this cottage while walking through the St. Simon's Park neighborhood after an evening in the Village. We were delighted to see that the property was available. We love the historic cottage, the live oaks and the proximity to the beach, waterfront park and village shops and restaurants. We also appreciated the unique opportunity to restore this historic cottage to its original charm.

Fantastic Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and we would definitely come back. I haven't said that about many places that I've vacationed in my life. We both noticed from the very beginning that the cottage was absolutely spotless. Whoever is cleaning it is doing a great job. The place is decorated nicely and is very comfortable. Given that there were only two of us, we didn't utilize the upstairs area at all. Enough about the inside- it was perfect for the two of us.

The exterior of the home was great as well. It's a beautiful setting as you can see from the photos and it looks as good or better in person. The front porch was great for sipping your drink of choice and reading a book. The back patio was great for grilling out.

The location of the cottage is great. It's on a quiet street that is only a couple blocks from the main drag in St. Simons. Lighthouse is 2 blocks away. Community pool is 3-4 blocks away. We rented bikes ($50 each for the week) and basically used those to go wherever we went. There are tons of public beach access areas within riding distance. We primarily used the one at Massengale Park b/c it had a place to lock up the bikes. The beach was great, of course. It was fun to ride around the island on bikes and see all the beautiful homes in the area. St. Simons is not your stereotypical beach scene. It feels like a small town that just happens to have a beach.

You HAVE to eat at Crabdaddy's if you go here - it's only a few minutes away via bike. If you are into cooking your own fresh seafood, check the St. Simons Seafood Market on Demere- the owner was very nice, gave great tips on ways to prepare the food, and even gave us some free halibut when we came back for more fresh seafood when we were heading home.

If you golf, there are a couple of public courses that are within 15-30 mins away (by car) that are pretty awesome. The King and Prince Course was phenomenal and you will likely never play another course like it. It's not a long course but it is fun to play. Several of the holes are in the middle of a huge marsh and there is plenty of wildlife roaming the course (we saw deer, heron, and gator). Make sure you bring bug spray! The Sea Palms Course was not as unique, but was a more challenging course and was more affordable. Both courses were well maintained.

St. Simons is an awesome place. This cottage is in the middle of it all. It was a great place to rest, replenish, and relax between ventures.

Great location, great kitchen!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here July 2014. Lots of space for a family of 4. Old world charm with modern appliances. The location is perfect - on the same street as the Lighthouse. Walk to all the playgrounds, whether at the Pier or near the baseball fields. The kitchen is fabulous! We didn't see or hear the kids the 1st 3 days - they loved the upstairs room. There was another tennant in the backyard cottage but we didn't even notice them (except for their car in the driveway). We like this better than the same size condo we normally rent that is across from the beach.
