About Anne Larson
We operated the Village House as a B&B for almost 9 years before converting it to a vacation rental in 2016, so we've hosted thousands of satisfied guests over the years. So many people have made wonderful memories at the Village House, and we love sharing the home with our friends, family, and guests! We live on a hobby farm in Wisconsin--just across the river from Winona. My husband and I have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. We spend most of our time on the farm with our growing family, and we feel privileged to live in such a beautiful part of the world.
Anne Larson purchased this House in 2007
Why Anne Larson chose Winona
We fell in love with the Village House when my parents stayed there while visiting our family. When the house came up for sale, we jumped at the opportunity to own such a charming property, and we have enjoyed sharing it with our friends, family, and guests ever since.
What makes this House unique
When the Village House was completely gutted and renovated, thoughtful attention was given to adding modern comfort while maintaining the original character of this historic house. One of the best features of the home is that each bedroom has a full, private bath so no one has to share. In addition, there is another half-bath right off the kitchen. The outdoor spaces are equally inviting, especially the patio and pergola which is surrounded by gardens and our favorite spot to enjoy wine-time while watching the sun set behind the bluffs. We especially love the exposed brick walls on the interior of the house and the high ceilings and tall windows. We are inspected and licensed by the MN Dept. of Health.

House was spacious and lovely
My annual girls weekend was spent here and the home accommodated us perfectly as well as being close to everything. The owner, Anne was readily available for any questions and help. We would want to stay here again when in town.
Another Family Christmas Success! I live very close by, but my family is a bit to large for just my house so it is wonderful that we can have this beautiful home as a place for people to stay. Very charming, clean and welcoming!
Love it here!
Have always enjoyed staying at the Village House Inn. I've lost count of how many visits I have made staying there to visit my daughter at SMU over the past four years. Great place to stay!
Beautiful House, Beautiful Location
We hosted our wedding party here over our wedding weekend. It was a lovely stay.
Perfect venue for a college friends' reunion!
The Village House Inn is the perfect venue for our annual college friends' reunion. The four bedrooms with private baths, along with the spacious dining and living rooms, makes for a comfortable weekend of relaxing and catching up with each other. The patio, with the gas grill, was ideal for an evening barbecue. We've stayed here for several years and have already booked for 2018! We thank Anne, the owner, for her wonderful hospitality.
Three families stayed for 2 nights at the Village Inn. The house is meticulous inside and out with attention to detail throughout. The terrace at the back is nicely hidden to most of the surrounding homes so that you feel like you are all alone. We did not see Anne but she was gracious and prompt in regards to all communication. We had to change our dates due to unforeseen circumstances and Anne was very accommodating. That being said, we were very disappointed in the noise from the busy highway in front of the house. We weren't aware that it was so close to the highway. A few members of our group got little sleep and the terrace out back was almost unusable do to the street noise. Maybe there was a specific event in town that weekend but the noise from the motorcycles was overbearing. Also, we didn't realize how limited we were in not having a stove and the grill not functioning properly but we were aware that there was no stove when we booked the house. The rest of the kitchen was supplied very well . Anne had board games and movies to watch which was very nice. It was a beautiful property but the noise would keep us from staying again, especially when the weather was so perfect to be outside.
For lighter sleepers we suggest either the West Room or the North Room--both of which are located on the side of the house opposite the highway. We have also installed ceiling fans in each of the bedrooms, and some of our guests have found the white noise to be helpful in mitigating highway noise.
