Spectacular River Views

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,100 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4. High-speed Internet, Cable TV

You should probably rent this home for a few days because it will take about that long to take your eyes off the river and realize there is even a house on this spectacular property. When you finally do you will be pleased to find a charming riverfront home perched on a high bluff overlooking the river allowing the views from the front terrace to stretch just that much further.

The home was renovated in August 2013 and features hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances and abundance of windows perfect for taking in the view and letting in plenty of sunlight and fresh air.

The second level features two bedrooms (one King, one Queen bed) and a bathroom. The lower level has an eat-in kitchen, living room and enclosed porch. We even added a small bed to the porch just for enjoying cool nights and fresh air.

The property is 1.5 acres in size so it feels very private, especially the lawn areas closer to the river.

Please note, the property owner does not allow gatherings of more than 20 people.

We are seasoned travelers and appreciate well managed properties. The owner was always prompt to respond to our questions/concerns and made check-in/checkout simple and easy. Our perch above the Hudson River was clean, comfortable and quiet for a rest from the city. The spectacular view and the perfect weather made us happy campers each day from sunrise to sunset. We enjoyed the occasional deer creeping across the yard from the lower habitat of thickets, which screened the occasional choo-choo train. We loved the sights and sounds of Rhinecliff and WILL return. (The only reason not to give this property 5 stars is that there is no dishwasher)

Comfortable small house, gorgeous view

  • 5 of 5

There aren't many houses (except historic mansions) perched above the Hudson with sweeping river views, but this is one! A modest home, in Britain they'd call it a 2-up, 2-down. Comfortably furnished, kitchen has all the basics, big lawn and a well-maintained rock garden. Yes, the trains go by right at the foot of the hill, and yes, they sound their whistles. Not too often, though, and you can't see them. The only real downside is the western sun, which streams in on hot afternoons - but if you want the Hudson view, from the east side, that's the price you pay.

Perfect house to explore the Hudson Valley!

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed here with two friends for a girls weekend and we had the best time. The house is only a 5 min drive (2 miles) from the town of Rhinebeck and located right on the river. The house has been updated and we loved all of the little touches such as the host leaving us toiletries. We hope to return every year now!

Lovely cottage with spectacular views!!

  • 5 of 5

Simply amazing little cottage on the Hudson. The views are amazing. The cottage has everything needed for any length of stay (extended or short). The kitchen has just about any appliance or gadget you would need for any kind of cooking. We stayed for a few nights and took Amtrak from Manhattan. Once arrived at the Rhinecliff station, we walked .5 miles to the cottage. Very easy walk. Rhinebeck is also a short distance from the cottage with many restaurants and cute shops. We walked the short distance to the town (30-45 minutes) but otherwise it would be a 5 minute ride in a car. The views (sunset/sunrise) are absolutely stunning. The whole atmosphere of the stay felt very comfortable and "homey". The cottage feels very private and there are no audible noises at night, very peaceful. Lastly, corresponding with Elizabeth (property manger) was fantastic. Very accommodating, very professional, and very friendly!! We plan on staying many more times!! Simply put; this was one of the best small getaways we have ever had!!!!

Take-your-breath-away views

  • 5 of 5

Private aerie above the lovely and languorous Hudson River. Amazing little gem, perfectly appointed. Comfortable living room, well-functioning kitchen, cute bathroom and comfortable beds. (wish there was a downstairs powder room...) A great space for a mini getaway. Friend and I cooked up a storm, and enjoyed our meals in the dining area after long sessions in the outdoor adirondack chairs with a wee nip of local bourbon as the sun set. We had time to ponder which planet was that appearing at dusk. (hint: Venus!). Really well located for outings to Rhinebeck, local hikes, Wilderstein house tour. Can't recommend it enough!

Lovely but tiny

  • 4 of 5

The views of the Hudson are indeed lovely and the house was clean and the bedding very comfortable but it is very very tiny. My husband is 6'5" and the mirror in the bathroom was so low he had to stoop to see. The beds barely fit in the bedrooms leaving no room for bedside tables or dressers in the master. Everything was diminutive in order to fit, including the TV. For what it is, it was very nicely maintained but too small for us to consider returning.

Nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley, Rhinebeck has something for everyone. Two hours from New York City by car or by Amtrak, the village has a small town feel with cute shops and a wonderful vibe. With the Culinary Institute only 15 minutes away, the whole region is peppered with great restaurants, farmer's markets and local meat and produce shops. There are countless parks where you can take a casual stroll over looking the Hudson or do some of the most serious hiking and rock climbing on the East Coast. Rich in history, the Hudson River Valley has historical sites, mansions to tour and old towns and villages, some dating back three hundred years. You can get a taste of country life with a hayride or pick-your-own farms or explore nearby places like Woodstock, Hudson, Millbrook and Kingston. For the kids, there is the Old Aerodrome, which has antique airplanes on display and air shows. For older kids, horse farms, sportsman’s clubs, golf courses, and dozens of streams and lakes for fishing surround Rhinebeck. Bard College and the Fisher Center for the Arts is only ten minutes away.
