My husband and I were attending a skydiving event being held on Lost Prairie Road in Marion, Montana, which is about an hour west of Kalispell. I also wanted to spend time exploring Glacier National Park, but my husband would be spending the majority of his time at the skydiving event.
We were at a loss for a while about where we should stay as there really isn't a town with hotel accommodations close to Marion. Initially we thought we would stay in Kalispell, but that made the driving time a little too long if I drove my husband to the skydiving event in the morning (1 hour), then drove 2 hours to get to Glacier, spend time driving around Glacier (more time in the car!) and another 2+ hours to get back to pick my husband up and back to our accommodations. All in a day. It didn't make sense to do this.
I was so excited when I discovered the Bitterroot Lake House on VRBO. Not only was it reasonably priced (about the same as a Quality Inn in Kalispell!), the location was perfect! In between Kalispell and Lost Prairie Road.
When we arrived, we were in awe! The surroundings are simply amazing! The trees, lake, wildlife, etc. The house is very nice and comfortable. We spent every evening sitting on the deck, watching deer, views of the lake and the sunset. It is such a peaceful, quiet setting!
The lake house is well equipped with internet access, multiple TV's, kayaks, BBQ grill, binder with local attractions and information, etc.
The communication from Amanda was excellent. She quickly responded to all my questions.
We feel so fortunate to have discovered the Bitterroot Lake House and are hoping to return!
Thanks Amanda and Jim!
I would recommend.
What a perfect place to vacation.
Thank you so much. It was a pleasure to have you and your family as our guests. Take care. Jim Boppre.
The Lake House That Has It All
Our family of four stayed for a week during the 4th of July, had a wonderful time, and wished we could have stayed longer. The property is situated in a very quiet location with a few properties below facing the lake. There is wooded open space behind the house and only one other house can be seen on one side. It was fun to see their free ranging chickens roaming around. The house had every possible amenity imaginable to make us feel right at home. The house exceeded our expectations and was better than advertised. We brought three mountain bikes from home and borrowed one of their bikes. The Cannondale with the single fork was a trick bike to ride. We trailed up a small boat and the property had plenty of space for our full size F250 truck and trailer. The boat ramp access to the lake was just two minutes away. There were a couple days when the lake was glassy calm and we borrowed the kayaks and paddles around the lake. We also found a couple local hiking trails close to the house and hiked up to "Table Top" for a spectacular view of the entire lake. There is so much to see and do in this part of Montana that we hope to come back for another stay. Thanks for opening your home to our family. We absolutely loved it!! Mike and Content Arnold, from San Diego.
Wonderful, peaceful setting with a fantastic view.

Great house, great location!
Great place to spend a nice, quiet and relaxing vacation. The home was inviting, warm and had everything. The lake was great and having access to kayaks was a major plus. Would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking to stay in the area.
We enjoyed our stay at the lk house on Bitterroot, the house was so comfortable and had everything we needed, just had to bring our groceries and move right in, thanks again Jim and Amanda.
We are located 20 minutes from Kalispell which offers most of these amenities.
