Comfortable, cute cabin.
Really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Even though the water to the cabin was frozen on arrival, due to unusually cold spell, Nicole immediately responded and the issue got solved, so we enjoyed the rest of the weekend. The cabin is well equipped, warm and comfortable and within a few minutes drive of most restaurants in Beech Mountain and the ski slopes. It is also within a walking distance to a trail and in a very quiet area. The cabin is very clean and well stocked with blankets, towels, and kitchenware. The only thing missing was no subscription to any TV channels, even the local channels were not available, but this was easily remedied with the google stick. Otherwise, great stay!
Beech Mountain Family Tradition
My family and I, 4 adults and 2 kids, always spend a week of the kids Christmas break at Beech Mountain. For the price of this rental over all we were pleased. The tempatures during our week had morning lows in the low teens and afternoon highs in the high 20s to low 30s.
I’ll start with the negatives. House was 3 floors. The ground floor (one room) had no heat to speak of, there was a “wall heater” but it never put out enough heat to bring the tempature up. We didn’t use the room except to store coats and snow pants.
We experienced confusion with the check out time. We were originally told before we arrived that check out was noon, then after we arrived was informed check was at 10:30. Then property description now says check out is at 11:00. They did allow us to check out at noon, so no harm no foul.
There was only one TV to speak of located in what I will generiously call the living room. There was a small 1990 era TV on the first floor but as stated above room was too cold to use.
Seating in the living room was limited to 2 small sectional couches. With 7 of us there just wasn’t enough seating.
Okay now for the positives and there were many.
First the location was awesome. We were less than five minutes from the slopes. And the Lower Pond hiking trail was only a one minute walk. We hiked the trail twice, an absolutely beautiful hike along the frozen creek.
We absolutely enjoyed the gas fireplace. It heated the main floor and kept the living room, dining room and kitchen nice and toasty.
Dinning room had a large table which sat eight easily.
Kitchen was large enough to make cooking a pleasure.
Two bedrooms on the upper floor. Rooms were of adequate size. Each room had double beds. Beds were comfortable.
2 1/2 baths. 1/2 bath on the bottom floor, again too cold to use. Bath with tub on the main floor and a bath with shower on the upper. We always had plenty of hot water which was nice.
Bottom line, the house was nice and we enjoyed ourselves. This year was a short stay of 4 days as opposed to our normal 6-7 days. So for 4 days it was a good stay, any longer and seating would have gotten on the nerves.
Nice area, cozy but small for 8 adults.
Sleeps 8 but small living area for 8 adults.
Lower level not much usable during winter, too cold and damp.Directv package minimal, no ESPN, no Fox News, no local channels.
Only parking for 2 vehicles.
Kitchen well supplied.
Poor lighting in back outside.
Heads up: Front outside light switch is on post down where you park.
Worked out well
My family and I spent 4 nights here as we evacuated from hurricane Irma. We typically prefer more secluded cabins, but this was one of the few available options. It turned out well. Even though Beech Mountain is a bit crowded you don't have to drive far to get to trails on Grandfather Mountain. There's also a little trail that intersects the road the house is on, so you can take a walk without having to be on the roads.
The owner was easy to get in touch with and the rental process was hassle free from beginning to end.
Very nice and exactly as stated
We had a great time at this property. It is very close and convenient to Beech Mountain ski resort which is why we were visiting. We had 4 adults and 4 children and this property was adequate for our two families. I would definitely recommend this property to others looking to stay at Beech Mountain.
We had the BEST time! It snowed the first night so our kids got to see snow for the first time!! There were hiking trails and the view was magnificent! Nicole was so helpful and answered all of our questions!! I would definitely recommend this house!
Beech Mountain Country Club And Buckeye Recreation Center are within 10 minutes.
