Larry is AWESOME. One if the friendliest, most interesting hosts I've encountered. We had some shared history, having grown up in New York and having a love of rock music; he worked in the music industry before he retired. The room is spacious with en suite bath, super comfy bed, good lighting for reading. I would definitely recommend Larry's place if you're heading to St. Louis.
Larry’s place was great! He has everything that you may need while traveling — iron/ironing board, hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner, soap, even fingernail polish remover! The extra touches of the tourist guides, books, and flowers were appreciated. Larry definitely goes the extra mile. Now, let’s talk about the breakfast! Delicious!!!! The first morning, Larry incorporated the city’s Mardi Gras festivities into our breakfast decor. Again with the extra touches. We enjoyed two great meals with wonderful conversation. The location and hospitality cannot be beat!
Larry is a super host who's very friendly and personable. We enjoyed the home cooked breakfasts every morning, along with wonderful conversations which included the history of the neighborhood and surrounding area. The Botanical Gardens are a short walk from Larry's place and we found it convenient to neighborhood restaurants - all of which were awesome!
Larry was amazing very friendly and professional. He had everything and anything you needed. His hospitality was on point and gave us all the scoops on the must sees in Saint Louis. My boyfriend and I will be staying at larry’s every time we come into town.
Larry was everything we needed in a host PLUS more. The amenities, room, location, breakfast. Everything was great. Any time we thought "Oh i forgot ____", Larry had it. He had great tips and suggestions for the places we had planned to visit so we appreciated his advice. It was amazing and if we're ever in the area we will definitely stay here again.
Larry's hospitality is second to none. He's also a wonderful conversationalist and incredibly easygoing. The space is clean, inviting, and just the right size. Best of all, the homemade breakfasts he offers are an excellent way to start your day. The smell of bacon wafting through the air in the morning serves as a great alarm clock.
Our stay with Larry was a pleasure! His place is in a charming neighborhood, only a quick walk to the botanical gardens, a few lovely restaurants, and easy access to public transportation that gets you to the downtown area, as well as, Forest Park. Each day was started with a hot breakfast, beyond what I expected! Larry was a proud host. I appreciate his information and insight in how we could best make the most of our stay in St. Louis!
First, the location near so much of what St Louis has to offer, was exceptional. A one minute walk takes you to the Botanical gardens. The zoo and museums at Forest Park and the restaurants of the hill are convenient and, if you want to explore eastern Missouri as we did, highways in all directions are within easy reach. Larry is a great promoter of St Louis and its offerings and is willing and able to offer suggestions on diverse activities. Best of all, this was absolutely the best of all our Airbnb stays with regards to breakfast. Larry's past as caterer to the stars provides for both great breakfast-time stories and delicious food. A great stay!!
Want to disappear? This is your place. The house, much like the owner, is a respectful, well kept and low key slice of Americana. My two sons, 7&8, stayed in the master room and had plenty of space with a vaulted ceiling and private bath with excellent water flow. Easy access day and night and close enough to major thoroughfares to get anywhere you need to within 15min and tooling around St Louis in the middle of the day, that's pretty impressive. Great breakfast and plenty and the chef is just as comfortable respecting each other's silence as he is providing good conversation, history, much anything other than personal advice. Our first time though so, if you want a well priced and comfortably quiet nights stay with a great meal in the morning you should stay here.
We went to St. Louis to see the Botanical Gardens. You can't get any closer than Larry's house. Walked three minutes and we were on the grounds. Easy access to the zoo and the Hill area of town. Being just off I44 really helps with getting around. Larry is a laid back guy. With nearly 20 years in the house, he's very knowledgeable about the immediate neighborhood and St Louis in general. He is an excellent ambassador for the city. He went above and beyond to make our stay great. The breakfasts were a treat. Great food and a chance to talk with the other guests was a nice start to the day. Larry's house is old and beautiful. The floors creak. The doors rest where they want unless closed. Many of the features are original. Some tasteful remodeling is evident. It's a work in progress. It's comfortable like an old pair of jeans. It's Larry's home. And the the music (it's a good thing!) Wi fi and blue tooth speakers in the room. This was our first airbnb experience and it was a winner! Many thanks, Larry.
