About Marilyn Herst

Joe and I love living in Seattle near our family and with our sweet pups 'Bella'and'Rosie'. We enjoy traveling globally, and learning about other cultures. We have lived in California, New York, and now Washington where two of our grand-children are growing up right before our eyes. Additionally we have grand-children in Florida, and Spain. I love gardening, cooking, hiking, reading, swimming, kyacking and designing terrariums. Seattle has the perfect environment for all we enjoy. We'd love to have you visit us soon!

Marilyn Herst purchased this house in 2007

Why Marilyn Herst chose Seattle

Our scenery is stunning and each morning we wake up to the splendid view of Puget Sound and the majestic Olympic Mountains. There are many inspiring trails that take you thru the woods, along the beach, and around the serene neighborhood that we live in. We are just a short jaunt to the Village of Ballard where there are amazing new restaurants, coffee houses, boutiques, the Ballard locks where the annual salmon run can be watched and there are many bike paths for long interesting rides around town and around our lakes. Our local bus stops just a block from our home which takes you downtown or to the lite-rail in 20 minutes. It is also incredibly quiet here allowing the many varieties of birds to be heard along with occasional Eagles and Great Blue Herons.

What makes this house unique

Guests have access to the front courtyard, and back yard patio and garden. We enjoy our guests and have fun sharing our Seattle knowledge over a glass of wine. Our lil' helper is 'Bella' our therapy pup ( Miniature Labradoodle- non alergenic) who is the official greeter. We look forward to sharing our home with you!

Great accommodation and location with a view.

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week at Casa Bella. The accommodation is in a great location between 99 and the water. From the street, there are fantastic views of the Olympic Mountains with glimpses of Puget Sound. It's just a few miles north of Greenlake and convenient to stores on Holman just a mile or so south along 3rd. The Unit is well furnished and has everything you need to prepare your own food. Marilyn had provided some tasty foods for us on our arrival. Couldn't be more pleased with our stay.

Lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely place to stay. It is in a quiet, attractive neighborhood in NW Seattle with partial views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. The unit is the basement floor of a lovely home with high windows in every room. It is modern, cosy and very clean. The backyard is inviting with grass, a hammock and yard art and a patio with tables and chairs. Marilyn was very accomidating, calling us several days ahead of our arrival with important information. She left yogurt, and organic milk and juice in the refrigerator and blueberries, bananas, jam, chocolate and a small pie on the counter. I would recommend this property. Thanks for the wonderful stay Marilyn.

Beautiful apartment and setting - and a warm welcome too...

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Casa Bella for 8 days in April and were very comfortable. The apartment is just as described - it feels more like a home than a vacation rental. It is immaculate and attractive. The yard is fabulous and the view of the Sound and Olympic Mountains from the front is breath-taking. Our only regret is that we were so busy with our son and daughter-in-law that we didn't spend as much time there as we would of liked. We plan to rectify this on future visits!

Marilyn's welcome made us feel right at home and she is a wealth of information on restaurants, transportation and and the sights. She and Joe were very kind to let us show up very late at night the first day after a long commute from the Midwest. Bella and Maggie are adorable and fun.

We come to Seattle often to visit our kids and hope we will be lucky enough ton stay at Casa Bella whenever it's available!

Owner's Response: Sue and Dick Harris were a wonderful addition as our guests at Casa Bella. We loved having their energetic, fun-loving presence. We hope that they can return here soon, and are certainly welcome anytime! We so appreciate their attention to taking care of our unit, turning it back to us in perfect condition. Thank you so much. Warmest Regards, Marilyn and Joe Herst

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

My wife, twin one year old boys, and I enjoyed our 4 day stay at the Casa Bella. This little home away from home was a precious sight for our sore eyes; after enduring a grueling twenty hour road trip from California to Seattle. Marilyn and Joe were very quick to respond to our questions, emails, and texts. They helped accommodate us with a crib and high chair to ease our stay. The rental is very spacious and had a full kitchen (something that was a priority for us). The neighborhood is calm and quite, nice place for a morning walk. A short drive south and you’re in the heart of Seattle.

We will stay there again on our next visit. I would highly recommend this rental for anyone whom doesn’t mind some stairs.

Soothing colors of the sea

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was perfect for myself & my husband for the 6 nights we were in the Seattle area. Good neighborhood in a convenient location, very close to public transportation, which we used a couple of times even though we had a rental car. Our hosts were very gracious & extremely helpful the few times we had questions. Great coffee was provided, along with some breakfast basics, including a huge bowl of fresh blueberries! Yum! The dogs are precious & not a disturbance at all. We would definitely recommend this property for anyone looking for a calm & serene environment off the beaten track.
