What makes this Lodge unique
Surrounded by mountains and wildlife The Lodge of McClemore's Cove is truly a special place to come and relax. Sit on the deck and unwind as the sounds of nature remind you of a slower pace. Watch the hawks soar or the deer grazing or hear the coyotes yelp at night and you and your youngsters become engaged with nature. Hike through the woods to the creek on the mile long nature trail and try to find the items on the scavenger hunt list. Look for animal tracks, fish, search for arrowheads, or just sit on a rock and be mesmerized by the sounds of the water flowing down the 30 ft. wide creek. Watch the sun rise over Pigeon Mountain and set over Lookout Mountain and then be prepared for an awesome sight as the night sky is illuminated by the stars and nothing else! Learn the constellations because you can see them. Where else can you roast marshmallows and sing by the fire as late as you like and not worry about bothering the neighbors? Pigeon Mountain (2 miles away) has a 10 minute hike to an 80 ft waterfall and also has Rocktown on top for rock climbers of all ages. It has miles of hiking trails but no houses. Cloudland Canyon State Park is only 15 minutes away on Lookout Mountain and it is worth the visit. There are very few places this private that specialize in large groups that can stay together. The Lodge of McClemore's Cove takes pride in doing all that it can to insure that each group has a memorable time for all the right reasons. Always clean on arrival and doing our best to make sure that everything is in good working order is our pledge to our guests. Large log cabin in cove near Pigeon Mountain
This 7 bedroom log cabin (The tower room gives you a fantastic view but not a place to those that might not like heights) and extra housing (3 bedrooms down hill was amazing. Views from the wrap around porch where you can watch the stars, wildlife or stare at amazing mountains and scenery in view. Kitchen was well stocked with essentials that you can use. Stoves & refrigerators, utensils and cooking supplies were available for our use. The main room was great where we gathered for a Family Trivia Night, puzzles or just to relax.
Bedrooms were very comfortable and accommodating for us to put our clothes and extra personal items. Bathrooms were supplied with towels, toilet paper and soap.
The pool had to be our biggest draw and loved to use it either for a time each day or all day. The place provided many umbrella tables. They also provided many games --cornhole, horseshoes, volleyball net, board games, and Jon our host also provided a fantastic scavenger hunt which was a hit for all the youngsters. We also took a hike to wade in the creek and find treasures along the way. Internet was sufficient in the main house which was used to stream 3 couples in our family in on a Trivia game. Kids enjoyed movies a couple nights from the vast library in the house. Puzzles and games located in the bench seats near the dining table gave many hours of fun. ONE big attraction was the electronic game which included Pacman as well as other games. There was a shuffleboard as well as a foosball table. In the extra house there was also a ping pong table and air hockey game.. Also in June, you may pick fresh blackberries--DELICIOUS!
Jon Afman is the perfect host that greeted us the first day and showed us the property. He told us he would stop by and pick up garbage daily to keep it clean and he also made sure the pool was well supplied with chemicals. He said call him day or night if we have any concerns.
This place is one we want to put on a list for a return to the area. We did not get to visit many of the sites in Chattanooga TN (we did visit the Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls (do not miss this attraction-a cavern with a waterfall underground), Chattanooga Aquariums --2 of them!)that is about 45 minutes away. Jon also directed us to sites we might want to see to make our vacation. He also directed us to close area grocery and convenience stores--he has a great little map that gives you an idea of the area around the house. :)
We had an incredible time! Only wish the weather had been better, but we made the best of it. The house was spacious, comfortable and the owner was always available.
The house was fantastic--did not disappoint at all! The owner, Jon, was very accommodating and great with providing all necessary information and answering all of our questions! Our group had a small corporate retreat--great location for a relaxed weekend. We also hiked to the nearby waterfall, which was a beautiful break from meetings! Thank you!
Couldn't be better
Our Indiana group of teachers held a retreat here. The space was perfect -- space to meet, discuss, rest, recreate, and reflect. The host was exceptional in his accommodating spirit and hospitality. We all left feeling that Chickamauga would be an awesome place to visit again. P.S. The Pigeon Mountain Grill was a treat.
My family and I were in awe of this property! We had more space than what we needed! My daughter graduated from UT Chattanooga and she wanted her family to be there and cook her a graduation dinner. Not only were we able to accommodate her wish, but we were able to do it under one roof, since we had to travel from Memphis, TN. The main house has 2-kitchens, so we were able to cook without being in each other’s way. I can’t do this post without mentioning Jon - he was awesome! He came to meet my family and continuously checked to see if we needed anything or if we were having any problems. He even gave us a map on how to get to Walmart and other places in the community. My grandson misplaced his tablet and Jon contacted me to let me know they had found it and will send it to us free of charge! Jon made our stay so comfortable that we’re going to book this property again next year for another graduation!!
Beautiful lodge for family gathering.
We had our annual Christmas family reunion at the lodge with 24 family members ranging in age from 4 years to 86 years. Everyone loved the lodge and the views. It was large enough for all of us to be comfortable, yet cozy at the same time. Jon was certainly a gracious host and responded immediately to all inquiries. If you're looking for a true country cabin in a beautiful, pristine setting, you will not be disappointed here.
McClemore's Cove is an outdoor enthusiast and nature lovers dream come true. Pigeon Mountain is a wildlife refuge area and is full of trails and adventures. The pocket waterfall is 2 miles away and is a gorgeous 80 foot waterfall that is only a 10 minute hike from the parking area. Pigeon mountain is also one of the top rock climbing destinations in the southeastern US and boasts the deepest cave in the southeast. Hang gliding is available off of Lookout Mountain as well as famous Rock City and Ruby Falls. Hiking to the creek on the property is always an adventure and wildlife viewing is constantly on display. The stars at night are incredible as there is no light pollution so make sure you brush up on your constellations. Driving through McClemore's Cove is a must see as the scenery is breathtaking.
Downtown Chattanooga is only 25 miles away and it boasts a never ending supply of family fun activities. Walk across the Tennessee River on the walking bridge and ride the carousel at Coolidge Park or let the kids play in the water fountains spraying from the ground. The Tennessee Aquarium, Creative Discovery Museum, IMAX Theatre, countless dining options of all cuisines make Chattanooga one of the top family destinations in the country.
Not to be missed for meals are the Pigeon Mountain Country Store and BBQ which is 5 miles from the lodge and serves great breakfasts and BBQ and burgers. The Canyon Grill is 15 minutes away on Lookout Mountain and has been picked as one of the top 10 restaurants in Georgia several times. Dress is casual and the food is delicious.
