We enjoyed our stay very much!

  • 3 of 5

We were booked for the home "off the grid" but were contacted prior to arrival to ask if they could move us to their home in town due to a water shortage at the house off the grid. All arrangements were very organized and clear. We were to meet Consuela upon our arrival. She wasn't at the boat dock but we knew to head toward the Axios coffee shop and we found her along the way. Consuela took us to the house on her golf cart and then took us back to the golf cart rental shop. We were travel weary so it was an early night. Next morning we were surprised to find the shower didn't work. So we got on the golf cart and went in search of Consuela who was very concerned and promptly called for help. Unfortunately we arrived on Wednesday and didn't have a shower until late Friday but we looked at it as an adventure and took showers in the dark on the porch under a cold water pipe that was mounted to the wall. And Leonor sent a message offering to reimburse us an appropriate amount for our inconvenience. Certainly it didn't ruin our vacation. While there we drove out to see the original house we wanted and sure wish it had been available. The house in town is a fair distance from everything and the bikes were in pretty bad repair so we opted for a golf cart. We are also a bit unusual in the aspect we love to cook and the pans and utensils are in poor condition. However we were able to buy fresh lobster from the local fishermen and prepared a fantastic lobster meal. All in all the constructive feedback would be to replace the broken kitchen equipment, provide plastic chairs for the balcony, replace the hammock that is torn and provide a local map upon arrival. Oh and everyone needs to be warned about the sand fleas. Be sure to have baby oil on hand.

The property is amazing! Great location. Having said that, we got robbed three days in. somebody knew the code to our door and came in and took $600 from my kids and stole my laptop, Still had fun.

Great place, just watch your back and be aware....

Loved our stay

  • 4 of 5

We were originally scheduled to stay at this house but it was having water issues so they put us up at their other property. I could not find it listed on here. The substitute one was in a residential neighborhood and on the city water. It was 1 block from the ocean and an easy bike ride into the main town area. The house was great, clean and very comfortable. No AC though and the curtains did not block the sunlight so we were up early everyday. My only complaint would be the bikes provided at the house needed serious maintenance. I know that the salt water can be harsh but I would suggest putting them in the shed on the property versus leaving them outside. This did not put a damper on our vacation and we would stay at this property again. Leonor was a pleasure to work with and the caretakers were very nice!

Nice House

  • 3 of 5

We were originally scheduled to stay at another house through the same owner. The original was on the ocean and more secluded, but had some temporary technical issues. A few days before our stay the owner offered us this one as a substitute. This one is in a residential neighborhood, and although I was disappointed to not be as close to the ocean as planned, it was a clean and perfectly comfortable house. The bikes provided with the house made easy enough access to the ocean. The "wildlife" we had kind of hoped to see ended up being local folks going about their daily lives. That was sort of interesting, and overall it was a fun stay. The central part of the village was only a short bike ride away. The caretaker was very helpful and everything in the house functioned well.

Great getaway

  • 4 of 5

What a cute little house complete with friendly iguana and a surprise visitor in the backyard. The distance from town was a perfect way to get exercise by walking or bicycling. Very peaceful area, sit on the verandah and watch the various birds. The house is off the grid so don't expect hot water or TV. Be sure to bring a flashlight for the ride home on the path in the dark. The property managers were very helpful. Bedding and beds were comfortable.
