About Ian and Heberto

Ian and I have been friends for almost 15 years and business partners since 2013, when we founded 'The Central'. We bought and remodeled these unique townhomes to provide our guests with a comfortable space to stay during their vacation. Ian has been operating a successful vacation rental business on Capitol Hill for the last 7 years and I am excited to partner with him on this venture.

Ian and Heberto purchased this townhome in 2013

Why Ian and Heberto chose Central District

We chose our property because of it's large, well designed, townhouse style units, all with private outdoor areas. The Central is located on a quite residential street in one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Seattle, close to downtown, Seattle University, the hospitals on First Hill, and the Pike/Pine corridor.

We know you will enjoy our units and their location and will ensure you have a comfortable and memorable stay in Seattle.

What makes this townhome unique

Townhouse style units with open living space and private outdoor areas.

Exactly as promised! Great property close to all the places!

  • 5 of 5

This unit was very clean, exactly as the description said. Three great rooms for each one of us in the group. The location is fantastic just a 5 minute drive to safeco/centurylink as well as Capitol Hill. The owners were very easy to deal with. All in all a great trip, with a great place!

Decent Value in a Good Location

  • 3 of 5

I stayed here for a few nights with my 82 year old father and my sister - we were all visiting from various points out of town (California, Canada, Alaska). We have stayed other places in Seattle and this was fairly convenient with a much appreciated off-street parking spot. The townhouse was clean and tidy - simply furnished and the photos are accurate to the space. The living space upstairs was very comfortable and the gas fireplace quickly took the chill off the cold day. It's remarkably bright with the plethora of windows and skylight - despite the weekend being very gray and rainy typical of Seattle at times. It would be a good walkable location to a few places for most people (not with my older father in the pouring rain).

Communication and check in was super efficient and easy - the door lock code emailed to us worked perfectly and made arrival and departure simple.

The bedrooms are on the ground floor and are very small - with no real place to put any luggage except on the floors of the closets. The third room in which my father slept has a bunk bed (double bed bottom, twin top) which was fine but had no bedside tables or any other furnishings on which to put a phone, keys, etc. My sister found the master bed comfortably firm. The home itself is quiet in a quiet area. At night I could faintly hear the train in the distance but certainly not close enough to disturb. Neither was there any bothersome street traffic - truly a pleasant neighborhood.

We didn't use the washer/dryer or the exterior patio given the short duration of our stay and the inclement weather so I can't comment on those.

My only recommendations would be:

(1) to add a few convenience items - a bedside table and lamp to the third room, a couple of luggage racks so you have somewhere to put your bags. An end table or two in the living area to put a mug down on.

(2) The kitchen is adequately supplied with pots and pans and dishes for preparing simple things but would not be suitable for any real meal prep - half the reason I choose a home over a hotel. Some basics like some Tupperware for food storage (there were only two and the lids don't really snap) or Ziplocks?

(2) to fix the sliding shower door in the bathroom between the bedrooms - it doesn't slide properly and seems like the inner glass panel may fall at any time. Perhaps some shower soap or small bars of soap? Most people who fly bring travel size shampoo but not always soap.

Great location for minimalist apartment!

  • 4 of 5

Amazing location! Bus service to this neighborhood is amazing - a 10-minute walk and half-hour ride get you literally anywhere in Seattle. Groceries are a bit far away, so plan that walk accordingly. Restaurants/cafes on 12th Street provide a lot of fun nearby options.

The apartment is hyper-clean and very spartan. Don't expect any little knick-knacks cluttering up the place, and likewise be sure to bring anything you need. I wish I'd remembered a 1/8" headphone cable for the portable iHome speaker (or bring an iOS device with AirPlay abilities), a pen, and pad of paper for game scoring. Plan to buy all ingredients you need for cooking - the kitchen has nearly nothing stocked. Note that if you have a loud & large group, this space doesn't really provide anywhere for group members to "escape" - you can hear upstairs conversations from the downstairs bedrooms, and the upstairs living area is one continuous space that comfortably fits 4-6 people (we stretched to 7, it wasn't too bad, but not everyone could sit at the dinner table).

Note to owner: Please check on lighting. Several lamps over the kitchen work area were out, making cooking difficult. We looked around for spare bulbs to replace them on our own but didn't find any.

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

The townhouse is in a great location! It's in a nice and quiet neighborhood, and is a pleasant 1 mile walk to Trader Joe's, or the Central Co-Op, and a bit more to Safeway. It's also walkable to the Seattle Pinball Museum, which was a ton of fun with our family, and it was on several convenient bus lines that our family used a lot on the way to/from downtown (Pike's Place, Space Needle, airport, etc.)

The house is also very nice and cozy, with a lovely gas fireplace, open kitchen and living space, so the cooks don't collide with others, and has comfortable beds and temperature controls in each room, which worked great with our family that had a variety of people from cold and warm climates to adjust their rooms to their ideal sleep temperatures as needed.

The kitchen was stocked with all the basics you'd need, coffee pot, frying pan, pots, spatula, knives, cutting board, glasses, plates, bowls, silverware, etc. We cooked in a few times, and the only thing we didn't find were measuring cups (but we still successfully made apple turnovers without them :-))
