This architect designed, (nominated for the Governor's award 2011) newly-built house on the canals of North Sound, is a perfect private hideaway for a couple wanting to get away from it all.
Situated on a corner canal lot facing into the cooling east winds with water on 2 sides, there's a beautiful dock to watch sunrises, sunsets, jumping fish and green parrots or egrets flying by. Or hop into our kayak and explore the canals or the beautiful marine reserve of North Sound (to the left)- just a quick paddle away.
One bedroom with a king size bed and walk in closet on the main floor, (a loft is for owner's storage but can be negotiated for use), a luxurious bathroom with rainshower, open style kitchen and living area with cathedral ceilings. Kitchen fully stocked, cable TV, WiFi, AC, washer/dryer.
The house has and indoor outdoor feel with a raised deck off the living area and surrounding the house on 3 sides giving a view of the water and lovely, lush garden for your evening barbeque. (You might even get a visit from our friendly neighbourhood dog, Koda!)
If you are looking to party-hearty on 7-Mile Beach then this is not the place for you.
But if you are looking for a great little getaway that offers peace and tranquility, unique flora and fauna, and all the sunshine you could want, then this is the place for you. Your own perfect home in paradise!
My husband and I will be happy to welcome you to the Cayman Islands. We are Canadians who live and work here in Cayman. Five years ago we did a 2 year clockwise circumnavigation of the Caribbean in our 42ft classic wooden sailboat. Out first port of call was Guatemala and our last was Panama. On returning we bought our canal lot and built our house while living aboard our boat. Our house is a reflection of our love of sailing, cruising, and traveling. The house and all of the grounds are at your disposal. As we live on our boat when we are renting, the west end (40ft) of our 100 foot dock is primarily for our use. Palm trees and a wooden screen ensure complete privacy. It's paradise here and we want to share it and get to know guests from all over the world.
I think our guests (from another rental site) can explain more succinctly than we can about "why this property?"
Mary Anne and Peter were fantastic hosts! They were incredibly responsive to correspondence sent before our stay and the home was as beautiful as described. My boyfriend & I ended up getting in at night and they were kind enough to leave the outdoor lights on to make our arrival easier. Goodies were thoughtfully left in the refrigerator for us and a short guide was available to help us navigate the home. The property is about 30 mins from SMB and 45 mins from the east end, so a rental car is necessary. The location worked out great for us as we dove on the west, east and north sides of the island. We found the local phone left for our use to be indispensable - it was nice to have as our phones only had data while on wifi. Our stay was for 9 days and we wished we could have stayed longer! Casa Kosa would certainly be recommended if you're looking for somewhere to stay that is away from the Georgetown/SMB area, but not too far out of the way.
What Melissa loved about your listing:
The home was a wonderful place to stay! It was a nice space for the two of us for the week. The thoughtfulness of the hosts and the amenities they left for us were fantastic!.
Simply divine 2 years in a row! I absolutely adore Mary Anne and Peter's getaway in Grand Cayman. Located in a beautiful neighborhood, you feel totally immersed in the local environment. This feels like my home away from home...a perfect fit. All you need to bring is a selection of swimsuits, sundresses and a tooth brush!
What Debra loved about your listing:
Love staying at this fabulous home as it feels like my own! A perfect fit in every way. I feel like I never left the island.
Mary Anne and Peter were fantastic hosts! They were incredibly responsive to correspondence sent before our stay and the home was as beautiful as described.
Mary Anne and Peter were fantastic hosts. They communicated with us quickly over email, made us feel at home immediately when we arrived, the house was spotlessly clean, and they even left a bottle of white wine in the fridge for us (we used it to cook some fresh fish we bought at the market!). The house is adorable, with tons of windows for light and to let the breeze in, with fans and a powerful A/C to keep cool at night, and a big kitchen that we used almost every day. It was perfect for what we were looking for: a romantic getaway for two. The house is on the canals in a quiet neighborhood, so we rented a car. It was about a ~30 minute drive from Seven Mile Beach and Ambassador Divers which we drove daily, and Mary Anne helped us avoid traffic by taking the scenic route at strategic times. Even though it's not "on the beach", we just had to walk a few feet north to the North Sound to watch stunning and romantic sunsets over the water.
Overall I loved staying at this wonderful house and will definitely go back.

Mary Anne and Peter were wonderful hosts! They were very attentive and eager to help if we needed anything. The house was centrally located and convenient (about 30 mins from everything), out of the way of the really touristy vibe, which we were looking for. Their home was comfortable and had everything you needed. I would say they really have it down :) The accessibility to their kayak added a magical aspect that you just wouldn't find elsewhere on the island. We were very happy with our stay and would recommend it to others looking for a home out of the way on their trip.

Peter was waiting for us when we arrived. Maryanne had sent us instructions and communicated on how to reach their lovely home. " A piece of paradise" fits it for us. We wish we were still there. Quiet, breezy home. Great deck for eating. It was close enough to town to drive and get groceries, snorkle grab a bite out. Hated to leave. Dawn
A charming small house with a nicely landscaped yard surrounding it, right along a canal leading to the North Sound. Walking only one block gets you to the Sound where you can watch some beautiful sunsets. The house is perfectly situated in the middle of the island to provide quick, easy access to either west or east coasts. A grocery store is also conveniently located only 5 minutes or so by car down the road. The house has every convenience necessary and a wonderful shower! It is perfectly situated to catch all the breezes, so we didn't even need the a/c even though evening temperatures only dropped to the mid to upper 70's F. Mary Anne was the perfect, helpful host. Thank you for having us. Hope your car is feeling better!. We hope we have the opportunity to visit again soon.

Very cool and comfortable property centrally located on Grand Cayman. Owners were very accommodating and property specifics were well communicated! Would stay there again for sure! Thanks to the Kosa's for opening up your home to us!
We had a wonderful time and very much enjoyed our hosts Mary Anne and Peter.
We were looking for a quiet spot that was centrally located so that we could go out each day exploring. That is exactly what we found. While there is no pool we weren't looking for one. We are snorkelers and the snorkeling from various beaches and entry points was amazing. We researched the snorkeling on the internet to find the best places. Just pick a spot on the island the wind isn't blowing from for super clear, and warm, water.
The house is new, very clean, and very well appointed island construction. There is a full sized refrigerator with an ice maker. There are ceiling fans and there is AC for those hotter nights. A cooler, ice packs, and beach chairs are available. Kayaks are also available and the Mangrove areas around the house are interesting to explore.
As for finding the house it isn't as difficult as others have written if you know two tricks. First, when following signs to the Eastern Districts there is just one stop sign at a "T" intersection. Turn left there. As you go around the next bend there is a road between two blue walls. Turn right between them and you are in the development.
Finally, the best thing I can say is that when we return to Grand Cayman we want to stay here again.
This stay has taught me what to ask for in the future. I made it perfectly clear that steps were difficult for me. The entrance to the home has STEEP steps. What may be simple steps for some can be an insurmountable obstacle for people with disabilities. There are handrails but the owner has installed lights that make it impossible to grasp the handrail the entire climb. In the future I will ask more questions.
I failed to consider our pet dander allergies. The dog hair made our stay uncomfortable, again I will be more selective next time I book.
There is ongoing construction nearby that starts early in the morning and the rains almost make the road to the house impassable.
I place the blame for our difficulties with myself.
We stayed at this unit for 12 days in February and it was really wonderful. Mary Ann and Peter are great hosts and provide everything you will need for your stay. The location is perfect on a lovely canal, food store 5 minutes away and Georgetown about 20 minutes. We liked being in the center of the island so we could go in either direction easily. This makes a big difference if you want to explore the whole island during your stay. The unit is very comfortable with a lovely deck, comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen, also very good air conditioning. (Important if it gets very hot and humid). The island itself was so beautiful with so many lovely beaches and terrific snorkeling. We hope to return someday and would definitely recommend staying here to friends and family.
We spent two idyllic weeks on Grand Cayman in Mary-Ann & Peter's gorgeous little house, away from the hustle & bustle of the tourist strip, yet only a 20 min. car ride to picturesque George Town & convenient for the local supermarket. It was very homely & comfortable & the location was perfect. Our hosts were very kind! A holiday we will long remember.
Here are some visitor reviews from another rental site we use.
We visited Grand Cayman for 7 days in February. Our trip was great. The beaches were safe and clean, the waters were crystal clean and the snorkeling was world class. Mary Anne and Peter were wonderful hosts. They met us at the house and gave us information about the island, suggestions about the beaches to visit, restaurants to try and sites to visit during our stay. They provided us with those little personal touches that made our first bnb experience remarkable. We appreciated thier kindness and attention. The house is magnificent. Mary Anne and Peter have designed an island house that is one of a kind. We especially enjoyed the porch where we took our morning coffee and enjoyed star gazing and a glass of wine in the evening. The house is in a central location that is close to everything but away from the crowds. There is a small shopping center with a grocery store and a liquor store close-by. I highly recommend staying ith Mary Anne and Peter.
We spent 8 days in Cayman and I just can say.. what a paradise !!
The island in incredible, we felt in love.
And what can I tell about Peter and Mary Anne? they are wonderful !! What a big couple. Really nice, cute.. I have no words. They will help you in every thing and detail you could need.
The house: I have to say that is even prettier than in the pics. I should insist them to sell for us. ;) Really, spacious, cool, nice.. a place to stay !!
We will miss, also, Koda, the dog.
Without any doubt, we will come back..soon.
We cannot imagine a more perfect spot away from hectic 7 mile beach but still acccessible to all parts of the island via rental car. Feel like you are living on GC rather than just visiting in this precious achitectural gem of a one bedroom, one bath home. The wonderful hosts have created a one- of-a- kind water and boat lovers home with wrap around deck and a cooks kitchen. They were true friends by the end of the week but never intrusive and rescued us during a health emergency for which we will be eternally grateful. But I digress.
Let me tell you more about the space and neighborhood. When you first arrive the directiions seem daunting from the airport to the home as you will be driving on the opposite side of the road to the opposite side of the island if from the USA.. Worry not! After one day we felt like we knew our way around completely as the hosts provide a detailed street map of the entire island worth its weight in gold. MaryAnne gave us a house orientation, introduced us to Mr Koda the neighborhood dog who is a sweet fellow, and showed us where all her spices and cookware were to be found. The space is immaculate and compact- but large at the same time- as the wrap porch and then lower level deck leading to their large wooden sailboat blend into your world. Fresh grown herbs and limes abound and we were welcomed to fresh lettuce, herbs, and tomatoes in season. We chose to have lunches out while exploring the island and then eagerly looked forward to a home cooked dinner at home waching the yachts go by from time to time on the canal. You are very close to the ocean and the air and breeze are delightful. Bugs were minimal. The neighborhood is a series of streets on canals and it is a mixture of pretty homes, some simpler homes, and lots and homes yet unbuilt. The nearby shopping center has a nice large groecery, pharmacy, pizza hut, chinese restaurant, etc, etc. It is large and ample and looks very new. If you like to be right at the beach when you awaken, I would not stay here as it is a drive to the beach from 10-30 minutes depending on your choice for the day. But if you are a more adventurous exploring type of traveler who enjoys creative architecture, cooking at home, getting to know people who REALLY care about quality of life and people, then you are meant for this slice of paradise. We will be back as soon as possible and cannot thank our hosts Peter and MaryAnne enough for a wonderful experience and all their kindness. Judi and Frank.
Our stay at casa Kosa couldn't have been any better.
The house was amazing, the location out of the bussle of 7 mile but still just a short drive away, ... friendly neighbours + dog.
We immediately felt at home.
Would have loved to stay longer.
I don't think you can find a better place on the cayman islands.
My husband and I had the most amazing, relaxing holiday in a long time. The house is in a fantastic location, by the water, where the only thing you can hear is the birds and the occasional boat going by. Georgetown is about 15min away and there is a little shopping centre with a supermarket and a bank about 5 min from the house. The house has everything you need, fully equipped kitchen and a great veranda to sit outside and have meals. We did get a lot of our meals from the hot food counter at the local supermarket.

Recently the Cayman Islands Government has required that all tourist properties be licensed and certified by the tourist board. We have paid a yearly license fee and had inspections qualifying us as a registered guest house. We are now licensed but unfortunately have to apply a 13% tax on the rental fee. For your own protection we strongly suggest that you insure that whatever property you decide to rent, it is properly certified/licensed.
