Come enjoy our piece of paradise! We've been with Honua Kai since it was just a blueprint, and, as previous Honua Kai owners, we've held out for just the right 2-bedroom. Our 6th floor, interior location maximizes the views and ambience, providing morning sun and summer sunsets. We love to sit on the lanai at dusk when we have the classic Hawaiian scene of resort pools, the flickering torches and thatched roofline of Duke's Beach House restaurant, and beyond to the shimmering waters of Molokai Channel and the island of Molokai itself. Of course, the view is mesmerizing all day long and whale-sightings from the lanai during the winter add a special touch. Our interior location means that the trade winds are gentle and you enjoy the sounds of lapping waves and chirping birds instead of the highway sounds more prevalent with exterior units.

The condo is situated across from the shorter arm of the building, providing a wide-open, expansive view not possible with other units that we considered. You are close enough to hear the waves, but set back just far enough to avoid seeing the older neighboring condo developments...exclusive Honua Kai views!

As for access to resort amenities, the elevator is conveniently located just 40 feet down the hall and delivers you to the ground-level entrance opening directly to the pool area and just steps from Duke's and the beach. Very convenient! By the way, Duke's was just named as one of America's top 100 places to dine al fresco!

The condo itself is perfect. The beds are super-comfortable and outfitted with custom touches and high thread-count linens. Also, we spent a week criss-crossing Maui collecting art pieces by local artists. We think that these extra touches will enhance the laule‘a charm of your visit. Be sure to open the floor-to-ceiling glass doors to the large lanai and enjoy the seamless indoor-outdoor island experience. We have yet to take a meal anywhere other than the lanai with its breathtaking views. An added bonus are the floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open to the lanai from the primary master. The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped with high-end appliances, dishes, and cooking utensils. We even provide BBQ utensils so that you can cook up your favorite steak or seafood using the resort BBQs located near the pool. The secondary master is perfect for another couple or, with advance notice, we can separate the king bed into twins. The living room is very comfortable with a sofa that folds out into a queen bed. We also provide a pak 'n play for little keikis. Of course, the unit comes with a washer/dryer and laundry detergent. You'll also find a couple of boogie boards, two beach chairs, and an umbrella. The luxury baths have full-size tubs for soaking, separate showers, and double-sink vanity areas with make-up mirrors and blow dryers. Resort-wide high-speed internet access, cable TV, and free calling to the U.S. and Canada are also provided.

Honua Kai is top-rated for good reason. It is the first new whole-ownership beachfront property built on Kaanapali in decades and has all the expected features of a luxury resort. Besides the beach, enjoy an elaborate kiddie pool complex with a 40-ft slide and lazy river, a separate adult pool with private cabanas, fine dining at famous Duke's on-site restaurant, organic deli selections at Aina Gourmet, on-site BBQs, work-out facilities, underground parking and more. By the way, Duke's was just named as one of America's top 100 places to dine al fresco!

Honua Kai is conveniently located within a 5 minute drive to Lahaina and a 10 minute drive to Kapalua. About Barbara

We have been visiting Maui for years. In fact, my husband worked his way through college by spending extended summers managing employees on the local Maui Land & Pine pineapple plantation in Napili. The site of the Honua Kai resort was previously one of his pineapple fields-no wonder it's such a sweet place!

Why Barbara chose West Maui

Given our affinity and connection with West Maui, we were thrilled to hear of the conceptual Honua Kai. As the first new whole-ownership resort on Kaanapali in decades, we loved the idea of a 5-star resort on the quiet end of Kaanapali near Napili and Kapalua. We've watched it rise from an old pineapple field to a beautiful resort and couldn't be happier!

What makes this condo unique

As mentioned, we selected this unit because it provides the best combination of setting and comfort. Most important was an interior location that feels like it's in a different world. Our entire view is of the resort and the ocean. The interior setting protects us from wind gusts, and the only sights and sounds are of the resort and the ocean beyond. The Hokulani tower is nicely oriented to take in the island of Molokai and our location in the tower provides expansive views. Inside, the unit is very conveniently located 40 feet from an elevator that opens directly to the pool area, BBQs, Duke's and the beach. We own this property and are invested in making it our Maui home - we are happy to share it with you. I am very committed to being available to our guests during the booking process, and offer personalized service.

Perfect spot for two couples. Beautiful new condo

Everything was great. The place is well equipped and really nice and new which is unique to this side of the island. The view from the balcony is way better than the pictures do justice, the beds are nice and the kitchen is really nice and modern. The whole place was very comfortable. We lived the location too and proximity to a lot of things we wanted to do.

Exceeded Expectations!!!

We stayed at this condo late January 2017. Everything about this rental exceeded our expectations -- from the initial communication and Q&A with Barbara to the condo condition and amenities! Arrival was easy, meeting with Michelle, the property manager, who showed us everything we needed to know for our stay. The condo is well stocked with everything you need for the stay -- including quality beach chairs and boogie boards! Everything looks new and in great condition and it was incredible to sit on the balcony every morning with coffee and watch the whales! We were also pleasantly surprised that many "afterthought" items -- like coffeemaker filters, salt, pepper, sugar, etc. -- were already there in the condo! The underground parking allowed us to rent a Jeep and never have to put the tops back on. The beach in front of the Honua Kai is a bit rocky so it's not ideal for swimming, but the sunsets are beautiful and it's a great place to just sit and relax. The on-site restaurant is a little pricey (as is everything in Maui) but the food and atmosphere are great. Overall, the Honua Kai is a beautiful and upscale resort and this condo is a great rental option. Thanks again to Barbara for the great hospitality ... we'll be back for sure!

Good & Bad

We stayed at this Condo Thanksgiving 2016. The good: nice bedrooms & spacious bathrooms, beach chairs/towels/boogie boards all provided. The bad: very unfriendly, rude & aggressive property manager. Beds were not made up as we requested. Light bulbs were missing. There are three (3) wine glasses in a unit that sleeps four to six. Furniture in living/dining area starting to look worn with stains. This seemed to be a very, very windy area - we could never sit on the lanai or have a meal outside. The beach is small in front of the Honua Kai, we spent our days further South where there is plenty of beach, it's sunnier & it isn't as windy. The pool looks nothing like the picture(s) shown- there is construction going on and be prepared for lots of small kids.

With Kaanapali Beach only steps away, we love to set up our Tommy Bahama beach chairs and umbrella and spend the afternoon watching for breaching whales while enjoying picture-perfect sunsets. A hidden gem is the Kaanapali Beachwalk, a boardwalk which originates in front of Honua Kai and stretches for over two miles along Kaanapali past Black Rock and the other resorts to the south. A great diversion for walkers is on the mauka (mountain) side where the former pineapple fields are now planted with coffee and stretch up to the West Maui Forest Reserve. We also love an occasional drive on the narrow road that leads around the backside of West Maui. We always stop at the bright green Julia's Banana Bread in Kahakuloa for a tasty treat. Remember that this drive is on 'island time' and is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. The backside of West Maui also has some great hikes through tropical forests. If you park for a side excursion, be sure to leave your car unlocked and a window cracked so the locals know not to be curious. Ok, last tip and then a recommendation. While on island, we try to make multiple stops for shave ice in Lahaina at Local Boys. The shop is right across from the famous banyan tree and, with Roselani ice cream in the bottom and flavored ice heaped high, the shave ice treat is ONOLICIOUS! With so much to do on Maui, we recommend that you read 'Maui Revealed.' It is the best guidebook that we have found for both well-traveled and little-known attractions on Maui. So much to do, so little time. Or, just indulge yourself and kick back at our beautiful Honua Kai resort! It's all good!
