Moose Mountain Lodge - located in scenic Breckenridge, Colorado, a town that offers fun year-round. Winter offers world class skiing and snowboarding, along with snowshoeing, sledding, and ice skating. In the summer and fall months, Breckenridge offers golfing, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and shops that will make you drop.

After working up an appetite, visit one of the many fine restaurants, or prepare a home cooked meal in our fully-applianced kitchen. Relax at night in front of the fireplace or in our private outdoor hot-tub. We have large screen TVs in the living room and loft, ShowTime, Starz, Encore, Huge video library for all age groups, sound bar, and wifi. There is also a TV/DVD player in each of the bedrooms and the loft, as well as a private outdoor hot tub. There is a fully applianced kitchen with granite countertops.

We know once you see all that historic Breckenridge has to offer, you will want to return each year.

We do recommend a 4WD vehicle when driving in the mountain areas of Colorado during the winter month.

About Tom & Kris Chiapete

We had both wanted to visit Colorado someday since we were young adults. We first visited Breckenridge during the summer of 1990 while trading our timeshare and totally fell in love with the town. Two years later, we purchased a condo at Beaver Run which we owned for many years and had many great vacations with our then young sons. We later decided to sell our condo and build our own home for our extended family and especially for our dogs to enjoy Colorado

Tom & Kris Chiapete purchased this house in 2002

Why Tom & Kris Chiapete chose Northwest

We built our log home in 2002 so we could enjoy hiking year round with our dogs one block from our home. We want anyone that stays in our home to truly enjoy their family vacation. For us, that means their entire family, including pets, which is why our log home is pet friendly.

What makes this house unique

When looking at floor plans to build this home, we wanted a very open concept which we have. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are all one huge room, with the loft overlooking this great room. We also wanted a first floor master suite for family members and guests that have difficulty climbing stairs.

The location gives you a sense of privacy and remoteness in the forested mountainside yet is but a few minutes drive into the great shopping and dining of Breckinridge.

Great Get-A-Way

  • 5 of 5

Well what can I say that hasn't already been said. The owners were kind and courteous. They really wanted to make sure our stay was memorable. The cabin was perfect for those that want to get away, but not be too far from a store/city/etc. The views from the jacuzzi allowed you to really enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Heck even the drive up the mountain from Breckenridge to cabin and back was scenic. Many trails and views surround the cabin. This place is perfect if you are one that likes to beat the trail on vacation or like to just relax. Also, the locals were very kind to us which made for an enjoyable trip. I hope to revisit this place soon. Best wishes from the great state of Louisiana and GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!

Cozy, comfortable, beautiful mountain home

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation in Breckenridge and the home is very spacious and has all the amenities we wanted. We loved the decor and the beds are very comfortable. The home is close to hiking trails and a short drive to town. We would definitely like to stay here again.

Excellent and very comfortable mountain home that comes with a residential Bull-Moose

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week hiking the local trails around Breckenridge and down towards Aspen via Rt 91 and 24. Tom and Kris' mountain house is very comfortable, well furnished, relatively remote (trees on both sides provides some privacy from the neighbors), and fully equipped for our work-vacation stay. Bonus was the hot tub which was a perfect way to relax after a full day of hiking from 9,000 feet to 13,000 feet for 4 to 6 hours. Couple of items for future guests to note: (1) The house is located at 9,800 feet. So, plan for a couple of 3 to 4 days to adjust to that altitude for sleeping, walking, and exercise. Drink plenty of water! (2) The days are warm and the nights are cool in August....the master bath on the first floor doesn't get a lot of, prep your feet for a chilly tiled floor on your wake-up visit to the bathroom. (3) The road to the house is mostly dirt from both the summer, a regular 2-wheel drive vehicle is all that is needed.....but, in the snow months, I highly recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle. (4) The wifi is excellent and fast. Both of us had work to do, and good wifi and cell services are a must for our vacations. (5) The commute from Denver International Airport (DIA) is roughly 2-hours if traffic is flowing. Caution....if you arrive at DIA and travel on Friday afternoon, be prepared for a long trip to Breckenridge and any other place heading west on I-70 as many folks from Denver head to the mountains for the weekend. Same situation applies if you're returning to DIA on a Sunday. And, (6) a big thank you to Tom and Kris for an effortless rental and providing such a wonderful house to stay. I use VRBO to find all my vacation rentals both for personal and my ski and scuba dive groups. Tom and Kris' house information on VRBO is very accurate, except Tom needs to include a note about the residential Bull-Moose that likes to have a sunny nap in the backyard. The Moose showed up twice during our stay....around 3pm and left around 6pm.....wandering in from the side of the house with the hot tub, down the back hill feeding, then coming up the hill on the other side of the house to settled down for a nap in the sun. Pretty cool and I took some awesome pictures without having to disturb or make him anxious about our presence.
