About Nancy Heard

The property is owned and operated by Dean and Nancy Heard who lived and worked in the Houston area for years before permanently relocating to a slower pace of life in Washington Texas.

Why Nancy Heard chose Prairies & Lakes

The property has been in Nancy's family for over 100 years. The farmhouse was her Great Grandmother's House but was restored by the couple and was their weekend getaway from life in the city. They now want to share that getaway with others wanting an escape from the city.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The property is not only centrally located between Houston and Austin but centrally located between College Station and Brenham, simply a great location!

Mornings and evening are the best! Listening to the birds, cows, horses and roosters, watching the deer and feeling the breeze. Enjoying the beautiful sunsets and wonderful sunrises! Laying on the hammock at night watching the stars!

Beautiful quiet surprise in the country

  • 5 of 5

My BFF in Houston and I took a short and sweet escape from Houston to spend quality time together to gather some photographic material for future paintings. This vrbo was clean, quiet, had fabulous beds and was decorated so sweetly. I even had no complaints about the cooking gadgets in the kitchen! The special non stick pans were so good I made sure I knew what they were to go and buy one for myself! Nancy provided some horse treats and fish food for us and we had a great time feeding the critters. We wished we had stayed longer! I will certainly try to go back.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay at the farmhouse! Just a short weekend, but we antiqued in Navasota and explored Washington On The Brazos Park. This place has everything you need from the comfy beds, great shower, and fully equipped kitchen. Nice views from the windows, big TV and cable, great place to be lazy! Thanks, Nancy!

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit and had an excellent experience both times. The last time was during Easter Holiday with our family including our grandchildren. We could not have chosen a better place for time with family and a great Easter egg hunt. Love the horses (and the brownies)! The home is lovely and Nancy and Dean are terrific hosts.
