Saraphina`s Cottage is located in Paradise Shores, right on Sarasota Bay, just south of Harbor Acres, in one of the most sought after and beautiful neighborhoods in Sarasota.
Saraphinas Cottage is a historic home, designed by architect William Magill Thompson in the 1950s, having been completely, lovingly renovated over the past few years. It is unlike any other, retaining the romantic cottage appeal, evoking the irresistible charm of Old Florida with it`s beautiful cedar plank ceilings, 1950 style beach blue fridge, gas stove and dish washer, wainscoting, gorgeous hardwood floors, built- in book shelves and entertainment center, new kitchen, laundry room and bathrooms and beautiful details throughout.
The house was taken down to the studs, expanded in some areas and completely remodeled between 2010 and 2013. A garage was added, the pool and spa were re-surfaced and a gas heater was installed; the yard was re-designed and beautifully landscaped and fenced in.
The furnishings are new, tasteful and complement the style of the cottage perfectly. You will have all the comforts of home and more.
Everyone who enters the cottage is in awe of its beauty and captured by its unique charm. Enjoy the privacy of a fully fenced yard, your own dock to watch the stunning sunsets, a heated pool and spa, screened patio, the breeze and the beautiful view.
Live the good life, relax, find peace and serenity, enjoy the therapeutic effects of just sitting and gazing over the water. See dolphins jump, watch the sea birds and the tide go in and out. Whether you stay for a week or stay all winter- you will never tire of this.
You`ll love being close to everything that this fabulous town has to offer- the world famous beaches ( Siesta Key was voted # 1 Beach in the USA), the top restaurants, spas, galleries and shops.
Many of the wonderful things Sarasota is known and loved for are within walking or biking distance! The neighborhood itself is terrific for walking and biking, with beautiful tree lined streets, friendly neighbors, and gorgeous homes to admire. Stroll to Southside Village for dinner at one of the many nice restaurants, shop the little boutiques or go to Morton`s Market for groceries, gourmet treats and bakery items. There is also the new E`lan Skin Spa, to pamper you.
If you love coffee, you will not want to miss Perq, the new coffee shop in Southside Village where the coffee is out- of -this -world!
Take a walk to beautiful Selby Botanical Gardens, famous for it`s Orchid display and the scenic bay front location. It is also a great place for kids to enjoy nature and the new rainforest gardens kids area.
Walk or drive to downtown with its many beautiful shops, galleries and restaurants. Catch a movie at Historic Burns Court Cinema or see the latest Hollywood Releases at the Hollywood 21 Movie Theater.
Enjoy the Saturday morning Farmers Market and stock up on local produce and crafts while watching local artists perform.
Visit St. Armands Circle and enjoy a great meal at one of the many wonderful restaurants. Stroll around the circle and shop the beautiful and unique boutiques and galleries. Then top off your evening with a home-made ice cream cone at Kilwins.
Once you stay, you will want to come back again and again.

About Anny Bredlau
My husband bought the house in 1989 and lived in it until we got engaged in 2006. We then decided it was time for some major renovations and moved out to undertake this project. It ended up taking a lot longer than anticipated, with multiple changes in plans and having to follow the strict building laws on the water. We also were blessed with our beautiful daughter in 2011 and decided to stay in our current home for now, where we have a little more play room for her. We have been enjoying the cottage with family and friends and decided to make it available for vacation rental starting 1/1/2014. We live in the same neighborhood and love it here! I am originally from Germany and came to Sarasota in 1995. My husband grew up in Schenectady, NY, and has lived here since 1985.

Why Anny Bredlau chose Harbor Acres
My husband fell in love with it the first time he saw the view and it has been his little paradise for many years.
What makes this House unique
Saraphina`s Cottage ( we named it after a beautiful Mermaid Sculpture we bought as decoration for the cottage and named her Saraphina) has a unique charm about it that captures the heart of everyone who walks through the door. We put a lot of love and hard work into this place and it shows!

Charming, Very Clean, Great Location
We loved this cottage. It’s beautifully decorated, super clean (I’m pretty picky about that), and the view is gorgeous. We loved being directly on the bay. The neighborhood homes are all well taken care of and beautiful, too.
We enjoyed sitting on the dock and also renting a deck boat for a day from a marina only a mile or so away. We saw manatees and a stingray right from the dock. We also saw many dolphins from our boat. I don’t care how many times we’ve seen them, we’re still in awe every time.
The beds are so comfortable, the bathroom towels are plush and the kitchen is well stocked. It was very convenient to have beach towels supplied as well.
The pool is small and shallow but perfect for cooling off. We spent time in the spa every evening. Magical.
We walked the neighborhood and shopped in town many times during our stay. Morton’s Market will be missed, for sure! Loved that place.
Anny is a dream to work with and she was very professional. We will rent this beautiful home again if we get a chance to return to Sarasota.
This lovely cottage was immaculate and charming! We loved the location on the water and within easy walking distance to many shops. The owner was easy to work with and attentive to our needs. Kitchen and cottage were well equiped. We hope to revisit the cottage soon!
Excellent Property and Location!
We had a great time staying here this past week! The property is awesome with a wonderful view of the bay. Location is close to all the restaurants and attractions in the area. The pool is perfect as is is partially shaded to get a break from the sun while still enjoying it. The beds were very comfortable and everyone slept great. We will be back! Thanks Anny!
As good as it gets!
We loved our stay and the host could not have been more accommodating. The home is extremely clean, well organized and positioned beautifully for exploring Sarasota and beyond.
Great neighborhood, private pool and hot tub made it a perfect for our little four year old.
If you are interested in being a VRBO host I would recommend taking a class from these home owners as they have it covered. Highly recommend staying here!
We had a wonderful time at Anny's beautiful and well-appointed cottage. It was really hard to leave at the end of the week. It was truly a home away from home. We traveled with our three kids ranging in age from 8 to 13. We all thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, fishing off the dock, naming the pelicans, and it's amazing location between Siesta Key and Lido Key.
We were so relaxed by the end of the week, we toyed around with the idea of cancelling our work commitments and spending another week.
Also, as a side note, we were at the cottage for Easter. Anny left us a gorgeous Easter basket with all sorts of treats. We were even able to have ourselves an Easter egg hunt.
I`m so glad to hear you were able to relax and enjoy the comfort of the cottage, it`s gorgeous view and the convenient location! Loved having you and your beautiful family and hope you will return!
The home was spectacular with amazing views. Anny has literally thought of everything that a traveller would need. The house is equipped with state of the art appliances, a beautiful pool and hot tub, glorious sun porch and every possible need of someone on vacation.
I`m so happy you enjoyed your stay! I strive to make the cottage feel like a "home away from home" for all my guests and I look forward to welcoming you and your family again!
