Lovely setting, very comfortable house
Charming and lovely but hot in the heatwave
This is a lovely place, very well suited for families. There were child locks on the cupboards and drawers, a potty, bassinet, etc. It's comfortable, the view is beautiful and it's quiet but close enough to town. Braidwood is fun, Monga National Park is gorgeous, and the Little Bombay swimming hole was a treat. Our biggest issue was that the place needed some fans. We were there during a heatwave (40C) and is was uncomfortably hot and still in the house. Fans would have helped. But with good weather, the place would have been fabulous! And we saw a wombat trundle by early on 2 mornings!
Great country get away
We stayed at River Cottage for 4 nights. We loved the views and watching the cows and kangaroos in the fields. We were 2 families (6 people) and unfortunately it was wet and cold so the 4 children played a lot indoors. The communal living area isn't that big so can become rather noisy with little ones. The bedrooms are beautiful and really comfortable (electric blankets are a lovely touch!). The kitchen is well stocked and the fire place kept the living room cosy. Emma and Kane were very responsive with any questions we had. Braidwood is only 15 minutes away and has good coffee and food stores.
Really enjoyed our stay. The views from being on a ridge were outstanding - day and night!! It was very windy and cold on quite a few days but the fireplace and extra heating kept us very cosy. Loved the house decor, views from every window, the extremely comfortable beds. The scenery of the farm itself was very inspiring for painting and photography. The best part about Fairview is there are so many happy surprises - the photos do not do the property justice. Had a thoroughly great time and would not hesitate to stay again. Kane's client care was great - very prompt and caring and Emma answered all initial questions thoroughly. For increased comfort for your winter guests - would be good if there was a clothes horse that could be set up inside laundry on those very windy and cold days. We did find some drawers full of clothing and grooming items (main bedroom and bathroom) so some extra space for a guest to unpack their items, especially on a longer stay of a few weeks, would be good. Thank you Emma and Kane for sharing your farm. It's a beautiful part of the world. Miss the cows terribly!
