Description

Friday Harbor Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 2

I’m an adorable petite cottage fully furnished with laminate flooring, tile counter tops, a ¾ bath, deck on three sides, private parking and quiet surroundings 4.5 miles from Friday Harbor. A small well-mannered dog could be my friend, but you need to take your dog with you when you leave. My walk-in closet is off my one bedroom with a queen bed and I have ample storage cabinets as well as a stack washer-dryer. The kitchen is fully stocked with all necessary accoutrements for cooking and eating (food not included). Free WiFi is available. I will remain faithful for at least two days. My friends do no drugs or tobacco including marijuana.

The setting is quiet & rural with beautiful, safe walking and biking from my deck. A part-year stream runs through my property and there is a gas barbeque on my deck with outdoor chairs and a table.

About Dennis

Gayle has operated Bountiful Herbs Farm & Nursery for over 20 years and is active at the San Juan Island Farmers' Market. Dennis is retired and is Gayle's back office worker; he also takes on multiple part-time jobs including camp store clerk at Lakedale Campground, tour bus driving all summer and others.

Dennis purchased this cottage in 1994

Why Dennis chose San Juan Island

It is quiet & away from the wind and cooler weather along the shoreline. The surroundings are more conducive to herb growing and uninterrupted walks on and about country lanes.

What makes this cottage unique

When we bought the property it was a house in a bowl. Through the blessings of God it is now a place of beauty and serenity.

Very nice cottage in lovely setting close to Friday Harbor.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our time staying in the cottage. It was very clean and well equipped and the setting was lovely. The location is very convenient to Friday Harbor and the roads are good. On the negative side, we thought the bed was uncomfortable which made getting a good nights sleep difficult. Also, because there is no internet we couldn't make reservations for a farm tour where it was not possible to call for reservations. As mentioned in the description by the owners of the cottage, the cell service is very on and off again, even texting is a challenge. We use t-mobile, so maybe other carriers are better.

Cozy stay on San Juan

  • 5 of 5

One of the best Experiences I have had with vacation rentals! This cozy cottage was nestled away from the main harbors but still convenient for our weekend. Upon arrival there was light music playing, very welcoming first step. This cute home had everything we needed for our stay. Warm coffee in the afternoon, hot shower and a comfy bed. My mom and I used this place pretty much just in the evenings but it was perfect. It's very close to the Duck Soup Inn, which is worth checking out. Overall, our San Juan mini vacation was the best, we ate a lot of island goodies, saw whales and even stopped to say hi to Mona the camel. Thank you Dennis and Gayle for a lovely stay on you herb farm. Can't wait to come back!

Clean, quiet, cottage in the woods but close to all the action

  • 4 of 5

Very nicely kept, quiet, cabin in the woods. Cute kitchenette. Just enough space for one or two adults. Respectful, responsive owners. Reasonably priced. Great location to see the whole island from, either by bike or by car. I'd stay here again.

A lovely sanctuary

  • 5 of 5

There is such a difference between "city quiet" and "rural quiet". Rural quiet is what I found at this cottage; the only sounds I heard most of the time were nature sounds. What a peaceful setting! The cottage is surrounded by beautiful trees, a tranquil pond, and pretty, natural grounds. I loved having my morning tea out on the deck and just listening to the quiet and the sound of the croaking toad, ravens, Northern Flickers, chickadees, etc. I visited the friendly resident chickens and rooster, whose cock-a-doodle-dos I loved hearing. :-) The cottage is well-appointed with everything a person could need, and the bed was SO comfy! I slept like a log. I appreciated the screen on the bedroom door leading to the deck, as I kept the door open a bit at night for fresh air. I hope that during my next stay I get to meet Heidi and Duke. :o3

picturesque cottage in rural setting

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is cozy but comes with everything to make a short or long stay comfortable for two and the bed made it even more so. However the shower is small with little room for toiletries. It is conveniently located a short distance from Friday Harbor but secluded enough to provide a lot of privacy.

Notes:
San Juan County is in a 'Rain Shadow' and receives about half the rain of Seattle. Tourism tends to be seasonal with the summer months being the most crowded and expensive, However, the fall, spring and even the winter can be very attractive, and less expensive, for those wishing a quieter environment. Consider it!
