About Carla Sundblad
Dave & Cathy and Al & Carla are co-owners of this beautiful vacation home. Dave and Al were both born and raised in the Annandale area and have always dreamed of owning a home on Lake Sylvia and are excited to offer it to others! We all met in college and have remained much a part of each others lives! Al and Carla continue to live in the Annandale area while Dave and Cathy reside in Bemidji with lots of family ties in Annandale!
Carla Sundblad purchased this Cabin in 2013
Why Carla Sundblad chose South Haven
We all love this area and especially Lake Sylvia. With the crystal clear water and the many bays to explore, it's a boaters dream. We enjoy cruising along the shore line in the pontoon, checking out the many beautiful homes and greeting the many friendly people around the lake. The area has many lakes to visit, great fishing and all around recreation. This home seemed to be the perfect fit for us, with the spacious outdoor living areas to the amazing 75 feet of hard bottom lakeshore. The year round home is 1,859 square feet, and has an open floor plan and vaulted ceilings, perfect for a family get away while allowing for some privacy when needed! The landscaping is extraordinary and provided beautiful foliage through out the seasons.

Incredibly charming house on the lake; quiet & serene
This house is GORGEOUS. The owners take very good care of the property. The house was situated on a lake that was quiet and serene. I was recovering from an illness and spent most of the weekend indoors or on the deck, and I never felt like I was missing out. The scene from the living room was fantastic. The kitchen was fully stocked, the bedrooms pristinely clean, and we even played one of the games that was in the downstairs fully furnished area. I feel like it was a little slice of heaven. The main floor was airy, spacey, with a little loft on top. Carla and Al were welcoming and accommodating hosts, and honestly we can’t think of a bad thing to say about this place! It was perfect! We even enjoyed the fireplace and firepit, and if you want there’s a grill on the charming side deck. Great area, great people, great house. Would definitely go back again!
We were very glad that we chose to stay at Stony Point Vista. The house is modern and well-maintained, cozy without being too small. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need, from pots and pans to cooking utensils to food storage to sugar and spices! Our favorite feature (besides the lake of course) was the expansive front deck (which also wraps around to the side of the house, where there is a dining area). There is plenty of beautiful wicker seating from which to enjoy the stunning lake view. And you can easily move it about to be in the sun or in the shade, as you prefer. The sunbathers among us really enjoyed lounging in the chairs on the grassy area lakeside, and we all enjoyed the use of the kayaks and floaty toys in the crystal-clear, sandy-bottomed waters of Sylvia. Plenty of lifevests are provided, along with fishing poles if you are so inclined.
And --- since the house faces southwest, we were able to enjoy the sunny lakefront and water into the early evening, until it was time to take in the gorgeous sunsets! We are certainly hoping our schedules permit us to come back next year!
wish we could have stayed all summer
This is a great rental for families or adult groups. Everything is in perfect condition in the house; there wasn't anything we needed that they did not have. We were up there with a changing cast of visitors: our kids and grandkids, groups of friends and other couples. We even had a few days to ourselves over the two weeks. The layout is excellent: the upstairs could have been an open loft but there is a very nicely done sliding door that means privacy for the sleeping area. And the lower level had a door at the top of the stairs for privacy for the pull out couch. The pull out is an air-dream blow up mattress and it is very comfortable. All the beds got great reviews from their users.
The dining table is large with six chairs so there is plenty of room for everyone. There is also a counter between the table and kitchen with four stools. All the furniture ( beds, chairs, stools, living room love seat and davenport, deck furniture and rocking chairs were extremely comfortable.
The only thing that wasn't provided was shampoo and bath gel (maybe we just didn't find it).
The view from the upper deck overlooking the lake was exceptional. You felt like you were right at the water's edge. You could watch loons, fishermen and boaters or just enjoy the view. There is also a grill provided and a very nice outside dining area right next to it. The overhead solar lights and the pergola made us feel we could have been in Europe rather than Minnesota. Great spot for dining.
The landscaping and hardscaping is incredible and really add to the ambience and the feeling of being somewhere special. There are neighbors on either side but with the screening from trees and a fence you don't notice that they are there. You really feel like you are the only ones on the lake.
The granddaughters really enjoyed the pontoon rides; it's an easy lake for an inexperienced boater to get around on. There are very few shallow spots and lots of bays and coves.
The only quibble we would have about the home is that there are no railings along the steps down from either the parking to the house or from the house to the lake. A few of our friends are getting up there and an un-obtrusive railing would have helped them navigate the stairs. The home is just outside Annandale and only an hour from the Twin Cities. Couldn't be a better locations. Nice sandy bottom to the lake by the shoreline was good for the kids.
Great home/great owners
family get together
We stayed at this cabin for a family get together. Even though the weather was a bit rainy, the view was still so relaxing and beautiful! When the sun came out it was even better to sit on the deck! The pontoon ride around the lake was also very relaxing. The cabin is very spacious, modern and clean. The owners were very accommodating. We will definitely be returning soon! Thank you!!
Annandale is the Heart of the Lakes with 30 lakes within a 20 mile radius! Lake Sylvia is indeed the most beautiful lake in the area, with clarity that exceeds 17 feet you may want to bring your snorkel. Enjoy spending time cruising the lake, fishing and getting to know the many loons and eagles that call Lake Sylvia home. There are 4 golf courses nearby so don't forget your clubs! If you like to hike, Stanley Eddie Park Reserve is made up of three separate units totaling 879 acres with scenic rolling hills, lakes, and marshes. The Northern Unit has four miles of snowshoe/hike/equine/biking trails, picnic sites, and toilet facilities, while the Southern Unit has 3.5 miles of ski/hike/equine/bike trails, picnic sites, and toilet facilities.
