About Martina

We've been visiting the Blue Ridge mountains and Valle Crucis for almost 20 years, and want to continue making family memoirs here.

Martina purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Martina chose Blue Ridge Mountains

It has a great open floor plan with large entertaining areas for large dinners and relaxation. It's very private but only 15-20 minutes from most restaurants and activities. Four wheel drive vehicles are required for roads and driveway during snow and ice season.

What makes this cabin unique

This home features hardwood floors throughout every room and no carpet.

Great Mountain Getaway!

  • 4 of 5

We decided to plan a mid February getaway - such a great place to stay! Lots of space (we had a total of 8 people, but had plenty room for more) and the amenities are great. One thing isn't a big deal, but the fans in the bedroom had lots of dust on them. The upstairs rooms were a little warm so the dust flew off when those were turned on. A great time was had by all and we will definitely keep this place in mind for futures visits to Valle Cruis.

Owner's Response: Lauren, Thank you for choosing our cabin for your weekend getaway. We appreciate your feedback and want you to know we had just hired a new property manger in late January to clean and manage our cabin. They have done an amazing job but it has taken some time for them to completely over haul our property. Your feedback was forwarded to them directly. We are very pleased with all of the improvements and the cabin is extremely clean for each of our guests.

January Mountain Vacation

  • 4 of 5

As stated in the previous review, we booked this home with 3 other families in early January. While the home was beautiful and well appointed, we did run into a few issues during our stay. The main level was comfortable, however the basement was entirely too cold for a family with a 3 year old. While we did leave early due to myself and my son coming down with strept throat, we also left because another guest had painful insect bites on her arm that came up while we were at the cabin. I did reach out to Martina with this information and she acknowledged that we ran into this issue and she assured us it would be addressed and that the home would be inspected for any issues. Please rest assured that the previous reviewers comment were correct and not exaggerated and were spot on as to the issues we ran into. This home was beautiful and comfortable on the main floor, however I would not recommend the basement for a family who plans to stay there on a cold winter night. Aside from this, the space was perfect for a large party, the kitchen was well appointed and the cabin is located in a beautiful location. It's a great option for any large party looking for a peaceful getaway!

Owner's Response: As I stated earlier with facts of this stay, we had the entire lower level of our cabin inspected my the Pest Control company that we use monthly. The entire bedroom bedding and furniture was removed and no insects of any kind were found dead or alive. Our property manager also inspected the lower level with no bugs period. It is truly possible that the renter may have been bit prior to her stay, or it could of been an allergic reaction. Its very unusual to have insects in the mountains especially in January period! We have over 10 Five Star reviews for a reason, our house is not cold nor has anyone ever complained !! Our family stays here frequently and my children and family members sleep in the lower level basement and no one has been cold over the past 3 1/2 years. We welcome anyone to come and enjoy our piece of paradise, beautifully appointed with everything you will want for your stay including central heat...if you need it!

Luxury cabin up, cold and bug-infested down

  • 2 of 5

Traveled with 4 families and it is a beautiful property and well located but I volunteered for the basement room without knowing it was heated by only space heaters. It was cold and annoying to set up and move heaters. One night, while sleeping, I was bitten by either a venomous spider or a fire ant and have 8+ bites on my arm that hurt over a week later. Families vacated cabin early due to insects and owner is unwilling to refund or respond to concerns. Not a place for young kids with topography and décor. Also would not be able to reach property in snowy or icy weather. Will not stay again.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately, Karen W. rented our cabin for her group(not Jennifer L.) and Karen emailed me after leaving a day early stating "We had a great time, thank you. Unfortunately, my 3 year old and I came down with strept threat, so we all headed home early". In addition, our cabin's basement is heated and cooled by the HVAC system. The space heaters are provided for convenience only. The area was inspected by our Pest Co and found no evidence of spiders, and indicated that fire ants do not live inside the home. Our property mgr also removed bedding and mattresses and didnt find any bugs. We recommend 4 wheel drive vehicles in the winter months, and our driveway is always salted and plowed during snow and icy weather. This was communicated as well. The property is very accessible during the winter climate and we have had no problems. We personally drive an all-wheel drive Jeep with no issues.

Perfect vacation home for our family

  • 5 of 5

The home was very clean and organized. Great size bedrooms and comfortable beds. The heated toilet seat was a hit too! Great size living area for our family gathering and the kitchen provided everything we needed for cooking. Wonderful balconies and decks with great size rocking chairs. Instructions for the stay and check out very simple easy and clear. Would definitely recommend this home as a vacation rental.

Wonderful Thanksgiving vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful time in this lovely cabin for our Thanksgiving holiday. We had a bit of a challenge finding a location that would sleep 9 comfortably and accept dogs, so we were very pleased when we came across this listing. The cabin is beautifully decorated and well maintained. The kitchen was spacious, which is critical for Thanksgiving cooking. The pinball machine was the highlight of my trip and led to many hours of cheers and groans from the whole family, and the only downside was that we didn't figure out how to play multi-player until the night before we left. (For future guests, after pressing start the first time you have to use the flippers to select a country and then you can press start again to add additional players.) Martina was wonderful to work with, and when she became concerned that we wouldn't have enough propane to last out the vacation, she quickly arranged for a delivery on the night before Thanksgiving! I am very pleased with how this vacation turned out. Thanks, Martina!

It's a winner. Ideal location, spacious layout, and bedroom configuration with fun amenities.

  • 5 of 5

This home was a perfect fit for our group and we look forward to coming back. No bunk beds, no futons, no parking restrictions, central air, great beds, big kitchen, clean, well maintained. Overall a much higher quality experience and value than thru the agency cabin rentals we've done.
