Welcome to the beautiful River Edge Lodge, nestled along the “Martin Creek” (also known as “Old Stillhouse Creek”), with a rushing waterfall, privacy, walking trails and plenty of wildlife. Enjoy the wonderful outdoor fire pit, positioned to take full advantage of sights and sounds of the boldly flowing stream. The decks, hot tub, outdoor cooking area and seating are also available to enjoy the outdoors. In the evenings, enjoy roasting marshmallows at the creek.

You will be very pleased with the quality of this home. The main level boasts a spacious living room with 25-foot ceiling and widows overlooking the stream and waterfall, a gorgeous stone, wood burning fireplace (firewood and fire starters provided), a 32-inch Satellite TV with Premium movie channels and DVD player and L-shaped sofa together with two leather chairs. The dining table will seat eight. The kitchen features wooden floors, tile counter tops, and walk-in-pantry. There is a door from the kitchen leads to the large covered deck, hot tub (7), and outdoor cooking area, including refrigerator, sink and gas grill. There is also a reading room/sitting area with leather sofa and comfortable chairs.

There are three bedrooms in the main house, including the Master Bedroom, which, indoor fireplace, Satellite TV and access to the deck area. The Master Bath includes hot tub/sauna. The second bedroom includes a queen bed and the third bedroom includes two twin beds and Satellite TV. Also, a full bathroom is off the bedrooms.

As a bonus, there is a 1000 square foot apartment above the garage with an additional bedroom, full bath, kitchen and large family room, perfect for the kids. There is x-box 360 and large Smart TV. Great area for kids or guests to hang out.. Also provides additional sleeping area. Total living area of main house and loft above garage is over 3700 sq. feet.

Please Note: This home is accessed by a private gravel road, where you will cross two beautiful stone bridges, driving over Martin Creek and enter gravel drive way. The garage stalls are in use and will be locked.

We have decided to share our mountain home and this beautiful setting along the stream, (outdoor fire pit and large deck with cooking availability) for those families who want to enjoy a wonderful mountain experience in a private setting, yet close to Blowing Rock and Boone. We also enjoy traveling and renting around the country and recognize the necessary elements for a comfortable and care free vacation. Our enjoyment to this area led us to purchase an additional 180 acres three miles off Main Street in Blowing Rock where we have completed the construction of a new home on the John's River. This home is also available for rent and can be located by property number 744556.

This property is extremely unique, with a beautiful setting along the stream. If you enjoy the outdoors for walks, wildlife, outdoor night fires, outdoor cooking, hot tub, etc. this is the home for you. Also, we purchased this home for the setting and the additional apartment above the garage, which offers our kids and their friends freedom and privacy, while allowing the adults to gather in the main house. There is a loft, full bedroom, full bath and kitchen above the three car garage.

What makes this house unique

To make this an enjoyable vacation, we provide all the necessary amenities. Outdoor fire pit along the river (fire wood included), books in library are available for your enjoyment to read, WiFi, Xbox above garage, large screen TV's in main house and above garage. The only area that will not be available is the garage.

There is a loft area over the garage that is seperate from the main living area. This loft area contains a bedroom and seperate kitchen. It would be great for multiple families traveling together, as in-law suite, or for children.

River Edge Lived up to its Billing!

Our extended family of six adults spent eight nights at River Edge recently. The stream, the sound of the water fall, the fire pit, the gourmet kitchen and many other features make this mountain retreat special. It is very private, but also 20 min away from Blowing Rock. Each of the 3 couples had privacy with our own baths. One couple stayed in the adjacent carriage house apartment above the garage for extra privacy. River Edge was a terrific place to spend a week and enjoy one another's company in the generous Living Room, around the large Dining Room Table or (especially!) the Fire Pit. As an aside, our dog may have enjoyed the stay most of all!

Very nice stay but a little too isolated for our active family.

This property was beautiful. Hearing the roaring stream was better than I could have imagine. Plenty of room for the seven of us. We go to the mountains every year, and we have never stayed by a stream but always wanted to have this experience. This was the perfect place to do that. That said, we think we prefer a view of the mountains. In addition, it was a little too isolated for our busy, active family. We did have trouble with internet reception, couldn't get dishwasher to work, but most of our meals were eaten out. Overall this was a lovely place, especially if you want a tranquil setting.

As you know, this location is in a remote setting within Blowing Rock, NC but yet not too far away from popular restaurants and shopping boutiques, which most occur on Main St. only 10 minutes away from the property! We do apologize in regards to the dishwasher issue - the dishwasher was purchased and installed less than a year ago and functions properly by not only shutting it completely but by securing the latch to begin the cycle - we apologize for the miscommunication of it's use during your stay! In regards to the property Wi-Fi - Hughes Net is the supplier of not only our property but most - if not all - surrounding properties for the Blowing Rock community! We apology for the slow speed and poor connection during your stay - large groups, downloading movies and gaming can all contribute to the delayed Wi-Fi connection + speed! Amazing home!

The cabin and surrounding property are amazing! The! Jeff was great and made sure we had everything we needed before our stay. The hot tub worked great and we had plenty of towels. There was a ton of firewood for the fire pit and indoor fireplace. The outdoor kitchen area was perfect for a family cookout. We ended up having beautiful weather, but even if it had rained, the outdoor kitchen was covered. The Wi-Fi worked great and it was only about a 15-minute drive to the grocery store. Our family made lots of memories this weekend! Thank you!

Wonderful home! The creek is literally at the back door and we all enjoyed sitting on the back deck to take in the beauty. Home has everything you need and is great for families or couples. The owner, Jeff, is super to work with and we've already booked our next get away at this home.

Amazing beautiful property in a perfect location

Two families stayed here for part of Spring Break. The place is great. It's conveniently located near Blowing Rock and Boone and yet you definitely feel like you in a mountain get-a-way. House is clean and exactly as described but the best part are the grounds. The hot tub. The fire pit along the river. The waterfall. It's all amazing. Jeff was super helpful but not intrusive. Can't wait to go back.

Very Dissatisfied with the owner and condition of the property

I will start by saying that the home itself was not a complete bust. It is nicely appointed and once you arrive, the home is comfortable. However, to say it is off the beaten path is an understatement. Its 3 miles down the mountain in one direction and 2 1/2 from the road is unpaved most of the way. There is a gravel that runs 1/4 mile up the hill once you arrive to Stillhouse Road. There is zero cell reception once you depart the main highway and WIFI is spotty at best inside the home especially with more than 3 people using it at a time. There is no Directv in the guesthouse either. We arrived to find the refrigerators ice maker handle broken, which I made Jeffrey aware of immediately but nothing was done. The BBQ was unclean but we didnt make a fuss about that. There was food left over from the previous guests in the refrigerator which we threw away. There is also an infestation of stinkbugs which I was told was "normal".

A few weeks after return home, I wrote Jeffrey and asked where my deposit was, only to receive a response that we had left significant damages according to the cleaning the tune of 7 hours of cleaning for 2 people. I was never informed in wiring or otherwise and this was clearly a gross misrepresentation by either the cleaning people or the owner himself. Not until i inquired about my deposit was I made aware of these matters. I received a 50% return and have an email and follow up where Jeffrey stated he was returning the monies to me and then a follow up saying the money was being sent out on March 1st, however I have not received that check.

If you are looking to ski Boone, Beech or Grandfather, there are homes that are far closer and more affordable. It is a minimum of 10 minutes to the main road in either direction and 20 to Food Lion. If you need a Walmart you will drive 3 minutes. Beech which is the closest mountain is a 30 minute drive. This is not the most ideal location unless your goal is to get off the grid and disconnect for your length of stay.

Owner's Response: In three years of renting three properties, this is the first response we have received in such a manner and we are very disappointed, however, Tony has elected to take this position due to his lack of respect for the property. Our cleaning team has been with us for many years and this was the first time they sent us a email when they arrived to clean the home describing the poor condition of the house. Also, I have documented pictures of the property, including stains on the rugs, food substance along the arm of the chair spread onto the cushion, and other issues that are just not worth elaborating further. Upon our guests departure, we had the rugs and furniture professionally cleaned and the cleaners required additional time to clean the home given the condition, which was extremely disappointing. It is as simple as that. When I confronted our guest to assist with the damages, he became aggressive and mentioned hiring an attorney. I truly thought he would share in the responsibility and I offered to share the expense with him, however, he wanted 100% of his security deposit returned. Please keep in mind that I have not withheld a security deposit since inception at any of the properties. It is also interesting to me that I received Tony's gratefulness and satisfaction with the property until I requested his assistance with the damages. In terms of location, we have great skiing, Appalachian Ski Resort is 8.1 miles from the home and 18 minutes from the house. Appalachian is operated by a great family and one of our favorite ski mountains. We have expert and beginner skiers in our family and this mountain works well for all levels with 12 slopes. We provide unlimited long distance phone service for guests, Hughs Net wireless and Direct TV. Our plan at Hugh's Net is 10gb per month and during his stay, he mentioned the wireless was slow. I contacted Hughs Net within two hours and they indicated that all 10 gb's of the monthly plan were used, of which most of the gb's were used the last several days (downloading movies with multiple devises). I requested and paid for an additional 10gb's from Hughs Net. Please keep in mind that no other guests in the last several years have used more than the monthly 10gb plan. In conclusion, we are disappointed with Tony's response, but I think you can see from the past and recent reviews that families genuinely enjoy wonderful experiences at the River Edge Estate.
