Welcome to our Mango House! This is our second home that we would love you to enjoy as much as we do! We are located in Sunset Villas, a guarded condo community. We are the first private house past the villas. The house is less than a 5 minute wonderfully easy walk on flat ground (not uphill!) to the main strip of West End where you will find shops, more than 20 restaurants, dive shops, bars, a beach, world class snorkeling, and more.
There is a beach just across from the main strip but Half Moon Bay Beach is much better and is only a 8 minute walk or so down the road. West Bay Beach, which is the best beach on the island and one of the best in the Caribbean, is a 10 minute water taxi ride away.
West End is the island's hot spot for restaurants, night life, dive shops, along with the wonderful Half Moon Bay Beach! All easy walk!
We have access to the beautiful pool right across the street from us! It is a wonderful place to relax after a great day of diving, shopping, etc.
Our home is freshly remodeled, as we recently purchased it. Everything is new. All rooms have air conditioning,
We have a wonderful covered deck, which is furnished with new outdoor furniture, along with hammocks and a propane grill. It runs the entire length of the house, and overlooks our gardens, and depending on your time of year, you may be able to pick fresh bananas from our trees. The deck opens right into the large, open living space of the home. Very large, fully stocked kitchen, with everything you'll need for simple cooking to more festive entertaining type cooking.
Large eating area, with table for six. Family room area with two large couches, chairs, TV, cable, DVD player, internet, a complimentary telephone and lots of games.
Two very large bedrooms, each with a large full bathroom. Master bedroom has king size bed and large wardrobes closet and drawers on one wall. Second bedroom has a queen size bed, along with a double bed, making it wonderful for families with children!
Also it's own full bathroom and wall with wardrobe and lots of shelves.
Above the house there is another deck looking over our trees right at the ocean. Great for sunset viewing, star gazing at night, and/or coffee as the sun comes up. A fun place for early morning yoga too.
Full size washer and dryer in lower bodega, which has a closet for hanging all your beach and diving gear.
A car is not really needed on the island, however if you do rent a scooter or car, we do have our own parking space at the house.
Each bedroom has its own safe that is locked into wardrobe and wall. You set your own code when you use it. Large enough for laptops, cameras, jewelry, passports, etc.
We love our home and know you will too. You have everything here at the Mango House. Lots of space to sprawl out and relax, easy walk to everything, and yet very quiet and private, tucked into our own garden of tropical trees and filled with the sounds of all the tropical birds.
We know your stay here will be very memorable, and we want to accommodate you however we can.
Electricity is quite expensive on Roatan. So Instead of charging fees for laundry, A/C , and so forth, it is easier and fairer to charge to for electricity instead. We read the meter at check-in and check-out, subtract the allowance, and use the previous month's bill to determine the charge per kilowatt hour. This amount is deducted from your security deposit.
HI!! We are Randy and Kat, new owners of The Mango House! We have been visiting Roatan for years and finally found our perfect island home to spend part of the year. When not here in paradise we live in NW GA, where Randy is a veterinarian and Kat runs our horse farm giving riding lessons and kids camps. We love being outdoors and between our two homes we really get it all from riding our horses in the Appalachian mountains to searching for the precious Seahorse right here in one of the world's best diving locations!
Kat Barbe purchased this house in 2013
After years of looking all over Roatan and considering everything from condos to private homes, we found our perfect lil paradise at The Mango House! We LOVE this home with its convenience to all the fun West End has to offer both day and night, and yet it feels very far away from it all, being tucked into our own private garden of tropical bushes and trees.
The first impression you'll have arriving at our home is the quaint island feel of the home. It's an island style built home, all wood, with a simple, open layout. You'll first walk onto the vast deck with views of our tropical trees and immediately you'll feel the relaxation of the island take over. Whether you come with just your family or a group of friends, you'll not feel crowded in this home at all, lots of space! And a fabulous pool right across the street from us.
We arrived here March 28,2015. Staff was absolutely nice and helpful. The house is nice, well taken care of. We have really enjoyed our stay. We got more than offered. The location is great. You have access to all the best activities in the island within a short walk distance. We totally recommend the property.

We had a great time in Roatan and it was very nice to come back to the Mango house at the end of the day. Very comfortable and relaxing.
Loved the Mango House. The spacious layout allows for ideal cooking in the kitchen, relaxation on the porch and pretty views from the upper deck. Watch the occasional cruise ship drift by in the distance or watch for meteorites at night. The proximity to West End is just down the drive and there is plenty of establishments as soon as you hit the main little road that runs through West End.
The Mango House also allowed for some indulgent down time, with a full line of TV channels, radio speakers throughout and Wi-Fi. All very helpful when being away for a full week and needing to check into reality once or twice.
We were remarkably comfortable and would go back in a heart beat! Maybe on our first anniversary!
Living on this island is unbelievably amazing and this house makes every bit of it even better. The house is beautiful and well kept; only 5 min walk from the beach and everything West End has to offer. It's perfect for me going on a dive trip and I will stay here every time I come back!! I couldn't be happier with my stay at the mango house :) thanks for a great trip!!
We so enjoyed staying at the Mango House! The location was perfect, just a short walk into town with restaurants, groceries and shops and to nearby water taxis. We enjoyed relaxing on the patio in the evenings and the kids loved the hammocks. The house had all the amenities we needed for cooking. We definitely plan to return!
Mango House is perfectly located to all West End activities and the water taxi to West Bay, with its pristine beach, is less than a 5 min walk. Reef Gliders Dive Shop is our highly recommended dive shop. They are all wonderful. We've been diving here for years and they are like family! And connected to Reef Gliders is C Level Bar, a total blast!

Rates do not include electricity. Electricity is quite expensive on Roatan. So Instead of charging fees for laundry, A/C, and so forth, it is easier and fairer to charge to for electricity instead. We found that including electricity in the price made people want to get their money's worth by leaving the A/Cs constantly on at full blast and every light in the place on. Not only is it eco unfriendly, it meant we had to tack on an extra $250 / week to the rental rate.
Assuming there are 4 people in the condo and you turn the lights off when not in use but do use the ACs in the bedrooms at night, the electricity should be about $5-$15/ night (my guess would be around $8). One couple that rented the unit only used $6.85 over their allowance for a 2 week stay. Another couple used $70 and another $150 in a week. It really just depends on how aware you are.
The internet unlimited wifi. It is fast for Honduras but average by US standards. But you can stream music and movies as long as you don't mind some buffering.
