Enjoy two of the world's finest resorts at this 2 bedroom 2 bath luxury ground floor condo at Kumulani at the Uplands of Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii. This peaceful gated community is on the Hapuna/Mauna Kea Resort property just above the hotels. Enjoy beautiful ocean views and sunsets from most of the unit. This unit offers the most privacy of any ground floor unit. It is perched above and to the side of the pool to enjoy beautiful views from a location with little to no foot traffic other than your own out to the wrap around lanai and grounds in front of you.
Available with your reservation is an extension of our membership in the popular Club at Mauna Kea Resort, which allows you to enjoy the amenities of both luxury Hotels located here – Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Hapuna Beach Hotel. You may choose this for a fee which is paid directly to the hotel with your guest registration that will be sent to you separately (see below) or you may enjoy the world famous Mauna Kea Beach and Hapuna Beach from the public parking access at no cost to you. Hapuna Beach has unlimited public access at the South end of the beach and Mauna Kea allows 40 cars per day at the public access parking lot at the South end of the beach.

We provide you in our unit with beach chairs, beach towels, boogie boards, cooler, and plenty of beach toys for the little ones. A cabinet full of books and cookbooks is provided along with puzzles.
With purchase of the amenity package you have unrestricted access to both the Mauna Kea Beach & the Hapuna Beach Hotel facilities with keycard parking at the private access. Please note that Guest Registration Fees changed for all guests renting private homes and condos for reservations made after 8/1/15.
The Mauna Kea/Hapuna amenity package/Guest Registration Fee schedule has been revised per the chart below. Please note that this is a daily fee per home/condo up to 20 days and a flat per stay fee for designated periods thereafter. Note all fees are plus tax.

This condo sleeps 4. Master Suite has a king bed, TV, large tub, walk in shower and closet. Enjoy beautiful views to the ocean or walk out to the lanai. Guest suite has king or 2 twin beds made to your preference and private bath.
High speed cable with wireless is included along with 2 LED TVs (Great Room & Master Bedroom). A telephone is provided for local calls and free long distance to mainland USA and Canada!
Your kitchen is well appointed and fully furnished including many spices and items to cook wonderful meals. “Da Fish House” is only 5 minutes away where you can purchase that day’s catch and grill up on the grill on your own lanai. Plenty of fresh groceries are obtained at the nearby Foodland or enjoy the numerous fine restaurants on the hotel properties or nearby.
Washer/Dryer along with all products you may need are provided. It is fully air-conditioned and has ceiling fans in the great room and both bedrooms.
Besides the Club at Mauna Kea, Kumulani has its own private pool and hot tub.
This condo is located 30 minutes from Kona International Airport (KOA) with many upscale restaurants and shops either on the resort grounds or within a short drive.

Susan & Tony purchased this condo in September 2013. After many visits to all the islands we knew the Big Island was the place for us and we visit often. Activities abound and the diversity of the Island offers endless opportunities for exploration. Tennis is our game and there is nowhere more beautiful to play than the courts at Mauna Kea. We also love to snorkel and have found the beaches on the north end of the Big Island to be the most beautiful in all of Hawaii with the best coral and variety of fish. We continue to find secret coves all over the North Kohala coast for easy snorkel access. We hope others will experience what we have found: a place to restore your spirits, ease your mind and delight your heart.

We have stayed at the condos at Kumulani many times and at the Hapuna Beach Hotel - they never disappoint! No matter where we travel, we always know our favorite place is the Beach at Mauna Kea.
Our family of 6 (including grandparents and 2 kids age 3 and 2) spent a wonderful week at the condo. The condo is clean, quiet, and nicely decorated. It has all the amenities we need for a week (well stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, beach toys for the kids, plenty of beach towels, etc). Although there are other buildings around, the complex is well designed that you do not have much of the view of the other houses. Instead you have a gorgeous view of the beach (albeit far) and the mountains. The complex is also well maintained.
The owner, Susan, is delightful to work with. She is helpful, accommodating, and quick to reply.
The location is convenient too. It is very close to the Mauna Kea beach and Hapuna beach. Foodland, where we did most of our grocery shopping, is about 15 minutes drive.
We highly recommend Susan's condo and will stay here again for our next visit.
If you like amazing sunsets, dark, starry nights, privacy, proximity to 2 great hotels, beaches and golf courses(Mauna Kea and Hapuna), and helpful communication with the owner, this is your place. We hope to return soon.
This was our first time renting from Susan and we could not have been more pleased. The condo was as advertised, great location, very clean and well stocked. We hope to be able to return someday.
My wife and two kids (7 and 10) and I just returned from a week at Kumulani in this unit, and loved it. It's spacious and comfortable, with beautiful views of the ocean. It's also very peaceful and quiet; I don't think we saw a single other person in the four-unit complex the entire time we were there. Very ready access to Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea. The daily amenity fee of $65 charged by the hotel in order to use the pool and beach and other facilities adds up -- but we ended up saving a considerable amount of money overall. We had a couple of pricey but delicious hotel meals, including a fabulous brunch (and fruity alcoholic beverages by the pool every afternoon), but mostly bought our own food and cooked in the home, so it was a great combo: access to the hotels and the spectacular, world-class Hapuna Beach (where I spent a good part of my youth growing up in Hawai'i), along with the privacy and comfort of our own place. I'm certain we came out ahead when comparing the price of the hotel vs. the price of this unit. We found it very well-appointed, especially the kitchen. We were very comfortable there, and appreciated having a washer, dryer and full kitchen. There was ample room for all of our stuff: tons of storage space, a nice walk-in closet, and lots of dressers. Everything was nice and clean and well-kept. Excellent air conditioning; ceiling fans in every room; and a nice large wrap-around terrace on the ground floor. Communications with the owner Susan were really easy; she responded almost instantly to every query, and was warm, flexible and helpful at every turn. Mahalo nui loa Susan!!
It was such a lovely condo with views of the ocean and peaceful outlook onto green and native grasses as we sat at breakfast. The kitchen was so well set up with all the condiments as well as dishes, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils we needed. The bedrooms were very attractive and comfortable and bathrooms well provisioned with nice soaps, shampoos and hair dryers. The TV's were easy to use and it was comfortable to sit in the living room watching the Olympics when we were not down at the beach enjoying the wonderful swimming or visiting with friends and family. I would and will certainly highly recommend Kumulani I-2 to anyone interested in staying near the Mauna Kea and the Hapuna Beach Hotels with convenient access to both.
