Why Kevin & Cathleen chose Indian Harbour Beach

Because it has the best views, and it's a paddler's & fisherman's dream! There's nothing like fishing off your own dock, or launching a kayak right from the backyard among the dolphins & manatees. There are several private islands within paddling distance where you can dock, explore or have a picnic. Our favorite restaurants are within walking distance or a short bike ride away. Walk or ride the beach bikes to the Ocean. Shopping & everything you need is conveniantly nearby!

What makes this house unique

Wake up to the tinking of sailboat masses and the sound of dolphins splashing. Have your coffee or tea on the deck overlooking blue skies, waterfoul, tropical trees and the Salty Banana River. Enjoy watching the Space Coast Rowing Teams pass by in their skiffs, and many water enthusiasts in a variety of different water craft. Also, have a front-row seat to all Space Coast rocket launches from your 60-foot deck overlooking your particular harbour. A waterlover's dream!

Couldn't have been more pleased!

  • 5 of 5

This was such a wonderful place for our family to stay! The house is so beautiful and comfortable and well-stocked. On top of that, the extras were so very much enjoyed - kayaks, SUP, bikes... And if all that weren't enough, the owners made us feel so welcomed and were available for any need. We enjoyed a day away at Universal Studios, but were glad to stay "home" the next day so that we could enjoy this place. I've already recommended this place to friends and family and highly recommend to anyone!

GREAT PLACE TO STAY!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here-the location is perfect: very close to the beach (and great beach access), within an hour of the Space Center (thoroughly enjoyed a day there), the airport and Disney (perfect as always)! The bedrooms, living area, kitchen and dining room were spacious and very comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed -there was no appliance or equipment we wanted that wasn't there-and seemed to have been recently updated. Very nice! The back deck was perfect and HUGE! We used the gas grill and enjoyed the deck several times a day, every day! It overlooks the canal and we watched enjoyed watching the ever changing coastal Florida weather every evening from out there! There were kayaks, paddle boards, bikes, beach equipment and even fishing equipment to use-we took advantage of most of these frequently! The owners were very welcoming and attentive, although we really never needed anything! There is a Publix less than an mile away, a Walmart just slightly farther, so if you forget anything-it's very convenient. We have rented from VRBO many times over the last several years-all over the country-and these folks know how to do it! Thanks Keven and Cathleen!

Sittin' On the Dock of the Bay

  • 5 of 5

Kevin and Cathleen are superb hosts, and their house presented a perfect opportunity for us to enjoy the Florida coast. They gave us an awesome tour of the house and equipment. They also followed up with us immediately anytime we had questions about the house or local area. Here's our brief review:

LOCATION: We were initially looking for a property right on the beach, but this location sitting right on the marina was actually much better. The many yachts just feet away are picturesque, seeing wildlife coast by the house is even more exciting than watching the waves, and being able to launch a kayak for a quick morning outing is priceless.

HOUSE: The kitchen is clean and has windows with views. Two of the three bedrooms are quite spacious and the third is the perfect size for two twin beds. The dining room is also quite spacious, with dining space for 6-8. The deck is nice enough for outdoor dining in moderate weather or viewing the marina.

EQUIPMENT: There's a large assortment of equipment available. As expected from frequent use and the humid environment, some of the items are aging close to the point of failure. However, we found enough chairs/umbrella/buckets to support four people on jaunts to the beach a couple miles away.

SUGGESTIONS: Perfection is difficult to achieve, so we have a few suggestions for the owners. The kitchen knives were all VERY dull, with no sharpener to be found. We also could not find lids to fit any of the large pots/skillets. The living room could use some more lamps. It appeared that the bath towels were washed/dried with fabric softener, so that it was very difficult to dry off with them and they also smelled mildewy when we pulled them out of the cabinet.

CLOSING: Thank you Cathleen and Kevin for helping us to have a great vacation.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great revue; We love when our guests have enjoyed themselves to the fullest. You folks are a great family. Your daughter's story about running out to see the dolphin wo her clothes on, still cracks me up. Not sure why the towels were not absorbent, they definitely were not washed with fabric softener. Sorry they did not smell good. We have a front loader washing machine and sometimes when you leave items in the washer they get smelly. I would have re-washed them had I realized. (Hubby must have done that load) :-( Also, thanks for letting us know about the dull knives and beat up beach chairs. We're going shopping today to get replacements. It's great suggestions like yours that help us keep everyone's experience optimal.

The property was beautiful and kayaking was fun... However, not somewhere I would ever stay again.

  • 3 of 5

The property had everything we could imagine to need for our stay. The kitchen was perfectly set up. The home was clean. The beds were comfy. The kayaks were in good shape and plenty for each of us to use. The owners were nice and did a good job showing us around and offering info of good restaurants and entertainment near by. My only complaint which is huge to me is the AC unit. The owners had a remote control lock on the thermostat and we were not allowed to adjust the temp inside the home. They owners set temp at 74. The back French doors and kitchen windows have no window coverings and because the balcony/porch is not covered, the sun would beam through the windows and become unbearable in the kitchen/living area in evenings while trying to cook and prepare for supper. I messaged the owners to please adjust temp especially at night while we were there and they dropped to 73 degrees which really never made a difference. Very Very disappointed in that for the money that we paid to stay.. We never saw dolphins or manatees from the harbour home, but their are tours nearby that offer to take you out to see them at a reasonable price.

Owner's Response: Melbourne broke a record for the hottest day of the year during their stay. We actually programmed the temp down to 72 after they asked us to, but someone adjusted the temp back up to 74, which made us think they were comfortable. We left it unlocked. We are very easy to work with, but sadly nothing further was said.about being uncomfortable and it seems someone in the house preferred it warmer. Interestingly, when we went to clean the home, there were extra blankets and duvets pulled out and left all around as if people staying there were freezing. Awhile ago we ended putting a lock on the thermostat because at times people staying cranked the AC down leaving windows and doors open. Unfortunatly, our AC unit was blown from one family. We want everyone who stays with us to be super comfortable and happy during their stay and will do everything to make it wonderful. I think in this case, family members liked different temperatures. We hate to see our guests not completely satisfied and plan rectify the situation. As for not seeing manatee and dolphin, that's a first. The dolphin don't always come down the canal, but as we let the family know, if you kayak toward the end of the canal late in the day, there are multiple pods that feed right there daily. We also left directltuons for a short drive where manatee can be spotted at different times of the year. Sorry the family may not have read "Our Favorite Free Things To Do" guide sitting on the kitchen table.

Wonderful location, just what we wanted.

The description says it all. There were 4 of us sharing the house. Had a great week on the water. Kevin and Cathleen were wonderful hosts and we would definitely book this spot next year.

The Indian River Lagoon is North America’s most diverse estuary with more than 4,300 species of plants (2,100) and animals (2,200), including 35 that are listed as threatened or endangered — more than any other estuary in North America. The Lagoon serves as a spawning and nursery ground for many different species of oceanic and lagoon fish and shellfish. The lagoon also has one of the most diverse bird populations anywhere in America. Nearly 1/3 of the nation’s manatee population lives here or migrates through the Lagoon seasonally. In addition, its ocean beaches provide one of the densest sea turtle nesting areas found in the Western Hemisphere. Red Drum, Spotted seatrout, Common snook, and the Tarpon are the main gamefish sought by anglers. Between 200 and 800 Bottlenose dolphins live in the Lagoon & can be swimming and playing regularly.
