A very disappointing experience!

  • 1 of 5

My husband and I, a senior couple, stayed here with our adult children and two grandchildren for 6 nights at the end of June. I paid for our family getaway in full well ahead of time, including a damage deposit and a service fee. We brought everything with us, including all our bedding, towels, food, etc. and even t.p.! The weather was unusually cold and wet which was disappointing but we made the best of it. The owner had given us a detailed checklist to follow on departure. Well that raised flags for me and I was right! We carefully did it all, washing, and drying all dishes, cleaning the barbecue, beach, and firepit (we had to supply our own wood), turning down all thermostats completely off,.(it was freezing upon arrival) We also removed every piece of garbage and recycling, we scrubbed the kitchen until it was spotless and cleaned the bathrooms daily as we were a group of 8 and are not dirty people. Unfortunately when we returned home I received an insulting and nasty letter from the owner who informed me she had heard we had been "yelling and swearing" and there were unacceptable noise complaints well into the night, and there were "sticky spills" all over the floor. I was insulted and appalled as none of that was true. The noisiest we were was one night when my elderly husband played folk tunes around the fire on his guitar for his grandchildren. We were in every single night well before dark as it was way too cold to be outside. "Sticky spills" I don't think so - we left that place spotless, and as I said, we brought all our own bedding so the only thing the cleaner had to do was a quick vacuum and wipe out of stove and frig. Avoid this place if you have any trouble at all going up stairs - there are two weird narrow spiral staircases that were tricky, and the driveway was terrible. I kept thinking I would slip and fall every time I attempted to go down to the beach. The tap water was murky and not potable.and the downstairs toilet was unusable as there was a sign above it saying all t.p. could not go in the toilet! So we all had to use the upstairs toilet. A total misrepresentation. The owner refunded me half the damage deposit even though there was absolutely no damage done and all her claims were completely false.. Cash grab? Who knows but beware, for what we paid it definitely was not worth it. My worst renting experience ever. and now just a sour memory. .

Lovely property, wonderful house

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful lakefront location, house full of personal touches and very welcoming. Pool table and sauna were great for when the weather turned chilly; dock and firepit good outdoor gathering spots. Nice walk around lake via the Kettle Valley Railway path. Driveway could be tricky if you don't have 4-wheel drive.

We stayed at Jessica's place for my partners 40th birthday and it was a 10/10! Something for everyone, outstanding fishing, running trails and all the outdoor activities anyone could ask for.

Jessica was very responsive and the property was outstanding.

We will most certainly be back!
