Comfortable, clean and great location
We have rented here before and really enjoyed it. The property is nothing fancy but it is comfortable and clean. I would go back again however this time there were a few glitches during our stay. Nothing that could have been prevented but it did keep us from thoroughly enjoying our Christmas stay there. From day one we had no gas because of a gas leak so that meant we had no use for the stove or the oven making cooking for Christmas day very difficult. The owners bend over backwards to bring us electric skillets to help with our cooking. No gas also meant no fireplace which is the main source of heat. Again, the owners provided us with two space heaters however we could only use one because when we tried to plug them both in it blew the fuse and we had no electricity. There were a few other minor problems but I will not go into those. The owners were very gracious and helped us every way that they could. I do feel that because the rental had some major issues that some of our money should be refunded. That is just my thought not sure if that will happen. Again these were issues that could not have been prevented and the owners were very helpful but it did damper our stay to some extent. But I would go back again in a heartbeat it is a great place to rent when everything is working.
My family and I loved this house. Excellent location and wonderful views. Suzanne and her husband were extremely kind, helpful and accommodating. The house was nicely decorated and the kitchen had plenty of dishes, utensils and pots and pans if you choose to cook in. My family thoroughly enjoyed all of the amenities. We had no issues during our stay.
We will absolutely book this property again in the future.
Good location on the beach
The property has a lot of potential but due to several things we were not happy. The beachfront location is good and the views cant be beat. Its close to many nice restaurants, stores, the pier and farmers market. There is much to do within walking distance and the neighborhood seems safe. The property is not very private. We had a group of young boys doing flips off the sand bank 2 feet from our deck while we were eating. ( I enjoyed them but my family was annoyed )The home is on a corner lot and the only thing that separates you from sometimes heavy pedestrian traffic is a 5 ft privacy fence. People were literally a couple feet away from us while we sat outside for meals and relaxation.
The house was not clean. The bottoms of our feet were black after walking barefoot so we kept our shoes on the whole time! The appliances, pots and pans etc were old and in poor shape. The rattan end table by the extra bed had clumps of dog hair matted to it. My brother in law had ants crawling on him in bed when he woke up. We saw a mouse run across the kitchen floor into a hole under the kitchen cabinets. To top it off, the hide a bed was broken/bent so we were unable to use it. The home was advertised to sleep six people but without the hide a bed it slept only 4. If this home was clean, well equipped with updated pots and pans, toaster and a new hide a bed it would have been a lovely place to stay.
We are grateful to be made aware of the shortcomings of our vacation rental and thank the guest very much for bringing these to our attention. We are currently addressing each and every one of the issues listed. Cleanliness is, of course, of utmost importance and the first issue being taken care of.
The issues in the first portion about the surrounding area, are not under our control, as it is on the beach, and with that, there is a trade-off between having an epic view and the sand right there, and having privacy. Our long time repeat customers have opted for being right on the beach and in the middle of the restaurant scene. We have consistently had a good rating and our hope is that we can soon achieve that status again.
Place was great
I was worried about the few reviews and low price. But place was great, owners were great, location was good. Patio is right on the beach, opened up the window and slept to the sound of the waves! The only down things were that the place was dog friendly (yay!) but the beach right out front isn't. It was a short, nice walk though to get to the dog friendly beach area. There were some really nice green areas close by as well where dogs can be. Nice shops around too! Parking close by. I did notice some ants crawling on the floor. I would stay there again.
Fall asleep to the waves!
If you want to stay ON the beach without busting your budget, don't even think twice - book this property. Will definitely be booking again.
Great hosts! Unbelievable location in Imperial Beach, ON the beach, near several local restaurants. My wife and I (from Houston) were surprised to see majority of houses with wide open windows/doors, and unlocked bikes - SAFE. A little bit of a drive to get to Mission Beach, Downtown, La Jolla - but more than well worth it to stay in this gem.
Perfect for our family!
Super affordable dream vacation for our kids!
It was our first time using vrbo and we were nervous, but these owners were very kind and helpful! The location cannot be beat. We didn't want to have to drag beach gear down a street, so this was amazing! We enjoyed the quiet nights and lack of tourists. If you want an exciting nightlife town, this isn't for you. But it was perfect for a family of 6, kids ages 6 - 15. We want to come back every year for spring break.
The kids found numerous sand dollars and shells. They posted "strong current" flags while we were there, but it didn't bother us. The boogie boarding was fun with all the waves. There were people on the beach but you still had a good space around you to enjoy it and not have some almost naked couple fondling next to your kids.
The house was older but nice and comfortable. Very generously stocked with kitchen items and towels. Husbands only complaint was the small tv. He suggested a big screen above the fireplace would be perfection. ;) We never heard or saw the upstairs tenants either. I slept great with the sound of the sea air and waves.
Imperial Beach is located within 15-20 minutes drive from downtown San Diego, Little Italy, Balboa Park, Lindberg Field, Old Town, Sea World, the S.D. Zoo, Coronado, and many other points of interest in the area. The beach is level and good for walking, surfing, and is near the City's fishing pier. With a population of about 29, 000, it is a classic little beach town.
