About Rowland C Fellows Sr

My husband and I built this cabin in 1962 in part so that our 5 children could enjoy the wonderful environment of Lake Tahoe. They grew up however and as they romanced and married we no longer took advantage the cabin and leased it full time for 20 years or more.

Now that we have grandchildren, we have totally remodeled the cabin and our children are using it much as we did. To help cover the cost, we are making it available to others so they can enjoy it too whenever we are not using it.

Rowland C Fellows Sr purchased this cabin in 1962

Why Rowland C Fellows Sr chose Lake Tahoe West Shore CA

We built this cabin on family owned land which was in the family long before we inherited and decided to build.

What makes this cabin unique

Staying and relaxing in this cabin is a complete change from living and existing in suburbia (as much as you might enjoy your home, wherever that is). Although all the amenities are there in the cabin, none seem to intrude on the peaceful and restful environment. The almost transparent walls of windows bring the outside in without the vagaries of weather.

Wonderful house

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed staying here. Close to the beach and hiking/running trails. The house was beautiful and well-equipped. We especially liked drinking our coffee on the deck.

Very nice place to stay, very spacious

  • 4 of 5

We just spent 4 days in this cabin, we so loved it, it is very spacious and has everything needed. It is convenient to access Homewood ski resort and close enough to Tahoe City to do groceries and pick up dinner!

Only downside: was not super clean at arrival...

Charming cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

I really loved the big windows in the main room. We came up on a weekend when the sow was deep and it was nice & warm.

The cabin is just as described and well maintained. The owners responded promptly. I would recommend the place and come back.

Access to the Ashley cottage at 4000 Walnut, Tahoe Pines:
The cottage has a lock box with the front door key (and the key to the pier) to the right side of the front door. The combination is 18.
Also, the cottage is bear protected with an electric fence when the cottage is vacant.
To disengage the fence, turn off the switch (left side of the front door), then unhook the bungie cords and leave hanging until you depart. Do the same with the bungie cords across the sliding door in the kitchen.
Place the keys back in the lock box, reconnect the cords and turn the system on when you leave
You can easily turn on the heat by the thermostat ion the wall in the entry
I think you will find about everything you need- kitchen stove, garbage disposal, trash disposal, bbq (charcoal) , oven, washing machine, dryer, bicycles, TV, DVD player, DVD movies ,books, computer for email and google, phone, tools (in laundry room) broom, dust pan, mop etc., etc. My`guest computer is not currently working. osted instructions in the kitchen for most things.
Obexer's in Homewood ( about 2 miles south) has a convenience store for many emergency items including morning papers (?). You will need to provide most of your own food but certain essentials such as salt, pepper, sugar, flour, etc. should be in plentiful supply
Call me at 415 461 2383 if you have further questions.
