Why Rachel Becker chose South Lake Tahoe

It is close to everything. We walk to restaurants down Ski Run, or down to the water. A short cab ride at nighttime brings us to the casinos.

What makes this cabin unique

We have a closed in front porch and an enclosed back yard for our dog. NO CATS ALLOWED.

We have property to the right and left of the house for playing, running about and in winter time, trekking in the snow.

Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here over the long labor day weekend - great place! Loved the fenced yard for the dogs too. Our kids live in the area, so it was a great place to have a family gathering and share some family meals. The kids also enjoyed some "playful" competition with each other at the ping pong table in the garage. There's a bbq grill in the backyard as well as a picnic table and plenty of chairs. There's also a fire pit, but sadly we weren't able to use it given the restrictions this time of year. There's also two very large trees in the back yard next to the patio and perfect for that portable hammock, so bring it when you visit. I've added this place to my favorites, so we'd definitely stay here again. The enclosed front porch is a definite plus, especially during the snow season for all the snowboarding gear. Even though you can't book and pay for this place on the website, Rachel made the rental process pretty easy. If I had any "negative" comments, and this really isn't that big of a deal - there weren't enough towels. If we had had a house full staying there the whole (long) weekend and everyone taking showers, there wouldn't have been enough towels (and I didn't see any cabinet/closet with extra towels). I had read that comment in another review, so I did bring extra towels as well as beach towels from home just in case. Thanks Rachel for sharing your home with us - we hope to be back some day.

Owner's Response: La Donna, Thank you so much for the review. And honestly that's why we love honest reviews, so we can improve. I have been meaning to get more towels so the cleaner can leave them out. Call us anytime. Cheers, Rachel

Convenient and close to everything

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 5 nights during the middle of summer with 2 adults, 3 elementary school kids and 2 dogs. The cabin is a short drive to everything that South Lake Tahoe has to offer, really. That really was a big plus as the traffic in and out of South Lake Tahoe can get kind of heavy at times, especially during the weekends.

The cabin itself can comfortably sleep 5 to 6 people as there were 3 full bedrooms and a futon in the living room. The cabin has everything that you would expect in a home. The kitchen is stocked with all the appliances and amenities (plates, cups, utensils, storage bags, paper towels, etc.) you will ever need. The bathroom looks like it was recently remodeled and the best perk about it was the walk-in shower with the raindrop shower head. The backyard is fairly sizable as there was a gas and charcoal grill, a teeter toter, a bench, and a playhouse.

The 2 bedrooms on the second floor were comfy although the stairwell leading up to the second floor was somewhat cramped.

The neighborhood itself is a quiet one but you probably should bring a flashlight with you as the street does not have any streetlights. We even got to meet the neighbors across the street and their dog, Rusty.

This was my first time booking thru VRBO but Rachel, the owner, made the entire process a simple and worry free experience. She always responded to my emails within 24hrs, if not sooner, and answered her phone when I needed to talk to her. Overall, I would not hesitate to book this lovely home again.

Cozy, convenient

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 5 nights over Christmas with 4 adults, two children and two dogs. We were skiing at Heavenly and this location is extremely convenient for that, being located a <5 minute drive (in heavy snow) from the California lodge. There are lots of restaurants nearby on Ski Run and on 50. The Safeway is a short drive as well. KItchen is equipped with everything you need to cook meals. Storage is a bit short but between the counterspace and the refrigerator we made it work. Kitchen table seats 6 no problem could probably put 2 more there. There are board games and cards as well as Cable TV and wifi which both worked flawlessly. Wood stove puts out a LOT of heat! Nice to have a washer dryer and use of the garage as well. Sleds in the garage, we took them to Van Sickle State Park and had a good old time sledding. Neighbor came by and blew snow off the driveway. He would have done the walkway as well had I not already shoveled it. You may need chains to get out of the street onto Pioneer Trail even if you don't need them elsewhere in South Lake Tahoe. Backyard was enjoyed by the dogs. Careful with small pets there are coyotes in the neighborhood. Cabin was overall clean and comfortable. We found the couches comfy and the King bed downstairs was very nice. Decent pillows too and plenty of blankets. Only one towel for each potential guest (7 total) would have been nice to have a few "burner"towels for dog paws or whatnot but we are low maintenance so it worked for us. Having the enclosed porch to leave boots, etc. is nice.

Would stay again, would have stayed again if the place were available for our next trip in Feb. Communication from Rachel is very good and I think her prices and policies are quite reasonable.

Wonderful time in their cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family of four and our dog thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were in south Lake Tahoe for a family reunion and the location was perfect. Just a heads up for those with young kids - the bathroom has been very nicely redone, but there is no tub. Luckily we were able to convince our 2 yo that showers were fun, but it could've been an issue. But other than that, the place was great for our family.

Awesome location and great cabin with new bathroom

  • 5 of 5

I can't say how great the location of this cabin is. You can walk down to the water or hit up the casinos in under 25 minutes. Went during the summer at peak Tahoe time and we had no noise problems. The property was up to date, clean and advertised correctly. They had lots of board games and beach gear. I meet the owners in person and everything was handled fast and friendly. I will recommend this cabin and stay here again.

  • 5 of 5

Great House and perfect size. Fits 6 people and dogs very comfortably. Location was awesome-close to everything. Backyard was convenient for the dogs. Couldn't have asked for a better cabin. Owners were responsive to all correspondence and very easy to work with. We are already looking at booking it again for the winter
