Beautiful setting, gorgeous place. But quite far (2-3 hrs) from yosemite.

- No cell phone coverage

- Internet connection crawls, hardly even dial-up speeds

Loved every minute being here! Cabin and location were awesome. We had 7 people in our party and never felt too crowded. We will definitely be back!

Great family cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This home is ideal for a large family. Downstairs family room and dining are very roomy, plus everything you need in the kitchen, tons of fun games and quick access to skiing. Cozy upstairs with one bathroom but there is another downstairs w shower too. We loved our stay- very comfortable and clean!

Perfect fit for our family!

  • 4 of 5

House had all we needed for a great time and the perfect memories. Nature had a plan but we survived, we had no electricity for a period of 24 hours. However, this became an adventure that we will never forget!

Rustic but functional and a good fit.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is spacious - with all sleeping areas upstairs and open concept living space down stairs, we never felt crowded. If you are skiing at china peak, the location can't be beat. It is a cool little neighborhood that is only about 5 minutes from the mountain. It is 20 minutes from shaver lake, so come prepared.

We also loved that it backed up to open space so we could just walk out the back door and go exploring with the kids and dog.

The cabin was stocked with all necessary cookware and the light switches and cabinets are all labeled which was helpful. The washer and dryer was key (especially the dryer) after snow days. Remember to bring your own laundry soap, it is not provided.

I would also recommend bringing emergency supplies if you are coming in the winter. We had a bad winter storm while we were there and there were no candles. Also bring your own fire wood (or pickup the pressed sawdust logs at shaver lake sports on the way up) - the firewood was wet.

Some of the negatives - the cabin is older and some items have not been maintained as well as they could. The forced air heat has been replaced by two wall units - I would assume as a cost saving measure. The upstairs thermostat was not functioning properly, so while we had heat, we did not have control of how much heat. The bathrooms have heater vents from the old forced air system, but are pretty cold because they are further away from the wall units.

Don't expect a luxury cabin, but it is dog friendly and that was important to us. We were a little bit nervous because we had read a review that the neighbor dog was aggressive. The neighbor has 2 dogs that are unleashed and roam freely. Our 9 month old, in tact, male chocolate lab had no problem with one of them. The other was fine at first but then seemed to become slightly aggressive. I did not feel like he was vicious, but did decide to end their playtime early. The two neighbor dogs went home and we never had an issue.

We would definitely stay there again.

Great Cabin for a group vaction

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was great and had plenty of room for all ten of us to stay. We went on Super Bowl Weekend and the large kitchen was great for cooking and we were all able to watch the game in comfort. I would highly recommend this cabin and would love to come back again!
