About Melissa Osborne
We are life long Mainers growing up on the coast in Bucksport, Maine. I attended school at the University of New England, and went on to graduate school at the University of Maine in Orono. I work as a scientist at The Jackson Lab in Bar Harbor, and my husband works as a builder in the Bucksport area. We share our home with our two St. Bernards, and one Newfoundland. We are adventurists and we love the outdoors and in particular the fun that Northern Maine has to offer.
Melissa Osborne purchased this Lodge in 2001
Why Melissa Osborne chose Millinocket
Our family would often summer at Jo-Mary Lake Campground, this is where we fell in love with the Millinocket Region. In 2001, the opportunity to purchase Ambajejus Lodge came along and we jumped on it. It has been a special place for making memories for our family. My husband and I are avid hikers and we were married at Pamola Peak on Mt. Katahdin in 2004. We continue to hike all over Baxter State Park every year. The lodge held a special place in my dad's heart, it was his pride and joy. He loved to have guests up to camp, and there was always room for many. He passed away in September of 2013, but he always wanted to be at camp. He loved to take our guests on a party boat tour of Ambajejus Lake. Those who come here to play, to relax and to unwind should know they will always have a kindred spirit watching over them. We have had weddings, family reunions, receptions, Thanksgivings, Christmases and Easters all at camp and each one is a special memory. The lake takes hold of your soul and brings you peace, and we have found it a great comfort throughout our lives.
What makes this Lodge unique
One of the nicest things about this property is the vast amount of space both inside and out it has to offer. We have had as many as 14 people staying at camp with us and there is never a time when it felt crowded. It offers privacy both inside and out, and there is nothing finer than getting up before everyone else and grabbing a cup of coffee and sitting on the dock.

Great place to stay
My family and I have stayed here many times. As usual, we rented kayaks, climbed Mount Katahdin, hiked to Katahdin Falls and enjoyed our family time. Supermarkets are about half an hour away but the lake store probably has what you need in a hurry. Can't wait until next summer!
You will be pleasantly surprised!
The pictures do not do this place justice! 10 of us stayed here... the place is huge, and very well equipped. The fire pit by the lake is such a nice place to kick back at night. You will find everything you need in the kitchen to cook your meals. Plenty of room for family/friends to spread out. We hope to book again for our annual trip.
Awesome place to stay
Great place to stay. We made some wonderful family memories. Everyone wants to go back.
Perfect getaway spot central to Baxter and Penobscot River
We enjoyed our stay very much at the lakeside retreat. First impression was that the home was even better than the pictures. 3 living room areas and more than enough space to sleep 10. Kitchen was well stocked and Keurig coffee maker is nice. Sandy entrance to lake or swim off the dock. Public launch right around the corner and you can walk to a store and restaurant. Only items I would change would be a bit cozier beds and fans in bathrooms as there are no windows.
We LOVE this house and property.
This house is spacious and the property amazing. A beach with sand that is perfect for our kids. A dock for fishing (and jumping)! Gorgeous views all day long and no matter the weather. We love it here.
Beautiful spot on the lake
House was very accommodating and very spacious. Waking up to hearing the Loons in the morning was wonderful. My family thoroughly enjoyed fishing and kayaking. It was truly a wonderful family vacation. Would definitely return there again! Thank you Melissa!
Ambajejus Lodge is located 10 miles from the Togue Pond Gate (Southern Entrance) to Baxter State Park. Baxter State Park harbors Maine's tallest peak - Mount Katahdin. It also has numerous trails for day hiking as well. We have been up every trail in the South Basin of Katahdin and several of the surrounding peaks. There is a hike for every level. We are also located near Katahdin Air, taking people on daily scenic flights around the region. Also nearby is Penobscot Adventures offering river rafting tours. Ambajejus Lake is among the Pemadumcook Chain Lakes and is home to some great game fish. In addition, we are located in moose hunting zone 10, with plenty of room for your entire hunting party. If you are into snowmobiling or ATV riding, ITS 85 is located directly across the road from the lodge. The Northern Timber Cruisers Club House is also approximately 7 miles from the lodge, and this group maintains the Katahdin Region Multi-Use trail system, the first of its kind in the state!
