Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an amazing first anniversary here. The accommodations were superb. Can’t wait to come back in the fall to see the changing leaves and enjoy a warm fire in the crisp air.

Immaculate and Complete -- Jeanne and John are Great Hosts

  • 5 of 5

This was a great VRBO experience, and we'll be back with pleasure.

We stayed here to escape Hurricane Irma, which meant that our plans wound up changing at the last minute.

Jeanne and John, who could have told us to wait until our booking, were happy to be flexible about our early arrival and when we asked to stay a couple more days than we had planned (as we waited for the power to be restored at home).

I asked Jeanne about telecom because we needed to be able to get some work done. She was forthright about the ADSL internet and we decided to try. The ADSL service is a little slow, but we were able to run some teleconference software without too many glitches. I wouldn't want to work like this every day, but for a "keeping up" basis during an evacuation, it was okay. The wifi in the cabin was able to run both of our phones through the "wifi calling" setting, as there is no AT&T service anywhere we went. Hopefully you'll be here to relax and it won't matter.

The cabin itself is *very* well set up. Anything you might think of is there, including a full kitchen and a lot of the stuff you might need. We cooked most of our meals with no problems. There's also a charcoal grill. Everything worked, and it was *extremely* clean when we arrived. The washer and dryer were a big help too.

Jeanne made a point of telling us that there are two cabins on the property (they were staying in one while their house was being finished), but we didn't hear them at all. They are probably 50 yards apart and unless there's a party next door, you probably won't hear anything but the trees rustling.

You'll want to pay attention to Jeanne's thorough notes. When she points out that the nearest grocery store is 45 minutes away, that doesn't mean that you can run down to the 7-11 for anything you forgot (there isn't one). Coming from Asheville or Waynesville, the Ingles at the beginning of the country road is your last shot. You'll probably want to fill your gas tank too.

Another thing you'll want to note is that you'll need to bring your own adult beverages, as this is a mostly dry county. You can get a beer (actually, a pretty good selection of crafts) at the tavern in Hot Springs, but if you want anything stronger, you'll need to stop at the package store in Asheville (no joke).

Last thing: print out your driving directions, as your GPS may not work.

Overall: this was a terrific getaway. Book with confidence and have a great time.

Amazing week at the cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was awesome. We stayed the first week of August 2017. We spent a lot of time at the cabin in the hot tub and by the fire, we watched 3 of the 50 or so movies, cooked amazing meals (kitchen was well stocked), and relaxed a lot! The cabin came with a lot of extras that are usually not included that made our stay feel more personal. We highly recommend this cabin, whether you plan to spend most of your time there, or as a home base. While we were there, we visited hot springs spa (got a foot massage and soaked in the tub), went to Cherokee and the casino (I won!!), and spent a day in Asheville.

Thank you Jeanne and John for a wonderful, relaxing stay! And for the veggies! They were amazing!!

If you're interested in an unforgettable trip to the North Carolina Mountains, Hot Springs NC is a secluded mountain paradise made famous by the naturally warm water mineral springs that were found here more than two centuries ago along the French Broad River and Spring Creek. Today, Hot Springs North Carolina is a popular, yet secluded, hideaway that many visit for a great North Carolina mountain vacation. Our cabins are a convenient place to stay for those looking to hike the Appalachian Trail in Madison County NC, go whitewater rafting, tubing, zip-lining, fishing, horseback riding, or just relaxing!

About 10 miles away from Mountain Valley Cabins is Max Patch Mountain. From atop Max Patch, you can see panoramic views of the Great Smoky Mountains which rise and fall in the distance, as well as parts of the Pisgah National Forest that pass through Madison County North Carolina.
